[HP] Riddle's Spirit Behind

Chapter 066 The Sorting Lie

Eleanor stood in the principal's office, looking at the battered hat in front of her.Just a few minutes before, she had been called into the principal's office and asked to put on this shabby hat.

"The Sorting Hat?" She looked up at Principal Dippet standing in front of the window.

"Yes," replied Headmaster Dippet, "if you want to stay at Hogwarts, you will have to be sorted. Of course you can choose to leave and go back to your Muggle world, but I strongly recommend that you stay." Come down, Eleanor. I've heard about you, and you're evidently a wizard. All English wizards are educated at Hogwarts."

"Actually, I really want to stay." Eleanor said, "I'm happy to learn magic here."

Principal Dippet smiled and nodded, "Then put on that sorting hat."

Eleanor picked up the limp pointed hat and put it on her head, thinking she must look funny now.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

"Oh, please wait a moment," Dippet said loudly, and then walked quickly to the door of the office.

While Principal Dippet was talking to the visitors at the door, Eleanor heard whispers in her ears.

"What can I do for you, young lady?" said the Sorting Hat.

"Well, I wonder which house I should belong to," Eleanor replied.

The Sorting Hat pondered for a moment, "Well, it can be seen that you have many obvious excellent qualities... Bravery, kindness, and good magical aptitude... Ravenclaw is a good choice, but I think you should go to -"

After listening to the Sorting Hat, Eleanor quickly took it off and put it on the table.

- Gryffindor.

The Sorting Hat just said that she should go to Gryffindor. But Eleanor didn't want to go there, because she was used to the basement of Slytherin being warm in winter and cool in summer, and her friends were all in Slytherin.

While she was thinking about what to do, Principal Dippet returned to his desk.

"The Sorting Hat just told me that I should go to Slytherin." Eleanor lied, while holding down the hat with her hand, in case it suddenly opened her mouth to expose her lie.

"Slytherin?" Dippet looked at her in surprise. "Are you sure, Eleanor? From my point of view, you don't seem to be a good fit for that house."

"I didn't say that, it was the Sorting Hat." Eleanor said without blushing.

Principal Dippet doesn't seem to have completely dismissed his suspicions. But he muttered under his breath "Slytherin has a lot of empty dormitories", as if he had accepted that Eleanor was going to Slytherin House.

"So, I can go to class right away?" Eleanor said.

"Oh yes, of course."

"I can take classes with fourth graders," she said hopefully.

"No, no." Principal Dippet shook his head, "Actually, I would rather you start studying systematically from the first grade, since you have not received real wizard education before—"

Eleanor's eyes widened, "What? Let me learn the floating spell with the little ghost heads in the first grade? Please believe me, I will make up the lessons before the fourth grade by myself. Those are not very difficult for me , because I have already taken a class with Tom and the others."

"But at that time you were just listening in." Principal Dippet said patiently, "Magic must be practiced to be truly learned. Moreover, you need to learn how to control your own magic power. This is the most basic lesson."

"I can make up extra lessons and catch up as soon as possible," Eleanor pleaded. "It's just too embarrassing to be asked to take lessons with those children."

Principal Dippet was silent for a moment, "Okay, I agree to your request. But you have to take the exam a month later, so that we can know whether you can really keep up with the progress of the fourth grade students."

"I agree." Eleanor said quickly.

"Then it's settled like this. By the way, you need a wand, textbooks and school robes, Eleanor." He said, and he took out a few old textbooks from the bookcase and handed them to Eleanor, "I only have these few , for others, you can ask the professors who are teaching the class, they will be happy to help. As for the wand and school robes, you can go to Diagon Alley to buy them this weekend.”

A few minutes later, Eleanor left the principal's office with old textbooks and a small bag of heavy wizard coins. She was full of gratitude to the principal, and felt that she had to pass the exam in a month.

The next day, she flooed to Diagon Alley alone. She had been there before, so she found the wand shop with ease this time.

She ended up with a thirteen-inch wand of birch wood with a unicorn hair core.

She couldn't get enough of her new wand.It was slender, smooth, much lighter in color than other wands, and looked pure and innocent.

She bought another set of school robes that fit perfectly. She refrained from buying a light blue dress gown with lace trim, because she couldn't afford to squander the little money the headmaster kindly gave her.

She then bought essentials like quills and parchment.

In the end, she had only one Galleon and a bunch of Bronze Knuts left in her pocket, and she had only one other thing to buy.

She wandered around Diagon Alley for a long time, and finally settled on a shop and bought what she wanted.

After returning from Diagon Alley, she went straight to the library.Avery was there working on his Potions treatise, and Abraxas sat next to him doing origami.

"I know, I'm probably the weirdest student Hogwarts has ever had." Eleanor said to the two of them with a sigh.

"No, you are not." Abraxas replied, "They recruited a centaur student more than 300 years ago, and it is said that there was a giant student before."

"Well, one of the weirdest students." Eleanor was lying on the table and playing with a quill. She looked at Abraxas through the gaps in the feathers, "Where's your lovely fiancee?"

"She's gone to Hogsmeade." Abraxas replied casually, and then placed the folded paper crane on the table.

"Why didn't you go together?" Eleanor asked curiously.

"Why do I have to go?" Abraxas obviously didn't want to discuss this matter in depth, but brought the topic back to Eleanor, "By the way, so the Sorting Hat really sorted you out. Are you in Slytherin?"

"Of course, what are you doubting?" Eleanor put down the quill, pretending to be dissatisfied and said, "Am I not qualified to enter Slytherin?"

But Abraxas said bluntly: "That's right. Our college usually only admits pure-blood wizards. But you said that your parents are ordinary Muggles, right?"

"I don't remember." Eleanor shrugged, then raised her wand and tapped the little paper crane, hoping to make it flap its wings and fly, "Maybe they once turned the goblet into a toad while I wasn't paying attention, But I don't have any memory at all. I was too young when they died, so many memories are blurred."

"Then at least one of your parents must have been a wizard," said Abraxas. "There can be no doubt about it. We never admit wizards of Muggle descent to our house."

"Can you two walk away if you want to talk?" Avery raised his head and frowned. "Damn, I have to finish this paper tonight. This paper is due on Monday, but I have other things to do tomorrow."

"What the hell are you up to, Avery?" Eleanor leaned on her chin and looked at him. "What's your business on Sunday?"

"It's nothing, it's just a family matter." Avery lowered his head and muttered, and then continued to write on the parchment.

"What about you, Abu? You seem to be very busy recently." Eleanor asked lazily.

"Of course, as long as I can keep all my homework above good, my father is satisfied." Abraxas replied, "So I really have nothing to do now."

"Except for your fiancée." Avery grunted coldly.

"She doesn't need my company. She just needs me to teach her some homework problems occasionally." Abraxas said with a shrug. He tapped the paper crane with his magic wand and said a spell, and the paper crane immediately flapped its wings and flew erratically. up.

"Maybe you can teach me." Eleanor raised her hand to catch the paper crane hovering above the table, and said, "I have to take an exam in a month, otherwise I have to go with the first-grade children." The class is over. So I have to learn all the subjects before the fourth grade within one month."

Avery raised his head abruptly and opened his mouth as if about to say something. But Abracasas spoke first.

"Of course," Abraxas said, "If you help me choose Hannah's birthday present, she will have her birthday next month, but I don't know what girls like."

Avery closed his mouth and lowered his head with a resentful expression on his face.

Eleanor didn't notice Avery's strangeness at all.

"Okay," she said, "but you've got to make sure I pass the damn exam," she said, groaning loudly, "—the exam! I always console myself when I'm dead that at least I don't have to take any more exams." up!"

"Please keep quiet." Ms. Ma Kai, the librarian, shouted at them dissatisfied.

Eleanor grimaced.

"I'll go out first, see you later." She said to the two boys, and then trotted towards the library door.

"No running," Ms. Mackay warned.

Eleanor turned around and stuck out her tongue at Ms. Mackay, but accidentally bumped into someone.A familiar breath made her stop and turn her head.

Tom's face loomed up close in front of her, his hands firmly on her shoulders. She could even see her hair fluttering slightly due to the other party's breath.

Eleanor stared blankly at those dark eyes for a second, and then involuntarily slipped her gaze to the other's soft lips. What happened a few days ago came to her mind clearly.

Ms. Mackay let out a small cough behind them.

So the two of them separated immediately.

"Watch the way," said Tom in a low voice.

Eleanor did not answer him.She lowered her head slightly and walked away from the door quickly. She clutched her chest tightly, feeling her heart beating a little unusually fast.
