On Monday morning, Eleanor finally found the owl shack with the guidance of an enthusiastic student. She picked a sturdy-looking owl at random, and tied the wrapped parcel to its foot.

It was a birthday present from her for Uncle Tim, which contained a small pipe that let you blow smoke rings of various shapes. She didn't write her name on the package, but simply wrote "Happy Birthday".

Watching the owl gradually go away and finally disappear from sight, Eleanor suddenly felt a little sad.

She must go back to Little Hangleton once, perhaps this holiday season.she thought to herself.

She suddenly remembered about the Polyjuice Potion, and realized that she hadn't had time to find its formula. However, she thinks that this matter can be put on hold until after Christmas, after all, there is still more than half of the school year until the holidays.

After that, Eleanor began taking classes with the fourth grade students.People expressed surprise at her sudden appearance, but they were friendly to her.

A Slytherin boy who had never spoken before became Eleanor's partner in Potions. He is introverted and rarely talks, but he rarely makes mistakes in brewing potions, so he is still a good partner.

But Eleanor made a mess, and she found that the practice was too far from the theory. She almost added the wrong ingredients a few times, and accidentally overheated for ten seconds, so a large amount of green steam came out of the crucible, choking her to tears.

"Well, stop, Miss Alford," sighed Professor Slughorn. "Now, you and Mr. Seyfried will switch places."

By the time Eleanor discovers that Seyfried's current partner is actually Tom, it's too late.

She stood beside Tom, watching him expertly weigh dried nettles and cut salamander tails. She found that she could not help at all, and Tom had no intention of asking her to interfere.

"Do something, Miss Alford—Tom, give her a chance to try." Professor Slughorn said, he seemed determined to keep his eyes on Eleanor. This should be because she was the only one in the classroom who couldn't recognize all the low-level potion ingredients.

"Okay." Eleanor picked up a bowl of offal-like things that smelled like blood, and whispered, "What should I do?"

"Grind them," said Tom monotonously. "You should be able to do that?"

"Of course."

Resisting the urge to vomit, Eleanor crushed the livers of unknown animals in a mortar. They were so elastic that they often slipped under the pestle, which drove Eleanor almost mad.

In the end, she really lost her patience and smashed it hard. As a result, a large piece of "innards" flew out and accurately stuck to Professor Slughorn's bald forehead.

A snicker sounded in the classroom.

"Sorry, Professor," Eleanor muttered immediately.

Slughorn wasn't angry, but he didn't look all that happy either. He sighed, "Put down what's in your hand. In this lesson, you should see how others do it, Miss Alford."

"Yes, sir." Eleanor replied, hastily pushing the bowl of disgusting stuff aside.

Out of the corner of her eye she caught a faint smile on Tom's mouth.

"Damn it, you're laughing at me," she muttered under her breath.

"I haven't." Tom's tone was very calm, without a hint of a smile. But Eleanor was sure he was just kidding her.

The Charms class that followed was even worse. They would have needed to freeze a large cauldron of cold water with a freezing spell, but Eleanor boiled it.A large pot of hot water boiled violently until it turned into a puff of scalding steam.

"Damn it, why is this happening?" Eleanor looked at the wand in her hand in disappointment.

Through the water vapor, she saw Tom looking at him from the opposite side.

Great, yet another embarrassment.she thought.

Tom was the first to successfully freeze water into solid, thick ice.So Elinor figured, he must now think she was a hopeless idiot.

For some reason, she didn't want to be underestimated by Tom.Competitiveness drove her to make up her mind to practice these damn spells well.

On the second day of Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Eleanor finally found something she was good at.They learn a spell against Red Riding Hood - an evil pixie.

Eleanor was the first person to successfully cast that spell."Almost" first, to be precise, because Tom casts a perfect spell soon after she succeeds, knocking the red hat back in the cage.

But it was enough for Professor Mellors to praise her.

"Excellent, Eleanor," said the older professor. "Five points for Slytherin."

This made Eleanor can't help being a little complacent. She couldn't help but look at Tom, but he didn't even raise his head, but continued to bury his head in practicing his red hat expulsion spell.

Eleanor soon discovered that Defense Against the Dark Arts was probably her best subject. What she is least good at are Charms and Transfiguration, because the results of casting spells are always quite different from what she wants.

"It's because you haven't received systematic magic learning," Professor Dumbledore comforted her, "so you can't control your magic well. If I'm not wrong, you are like a Children who have just shown magical powers, so the magic power is unstable to a certain extent. But this situation will disappear soon."

I hope so.Eleanor thought dejectedly. If she screwed up a test a month later, she'd have to go to class with a bunch of 11-year-olds.

After class every day, Eleanor had to soak in the library and read books. She has to memorize all the knowledge of the three school years in one month.

"You know that's impossible, unless you have a miraculous brain that can never forget." Abraxas pointed out mercilessly. At this moment he was sitting with Eleanor on the soft sofa in the common room.

Eleanor knew he had a point, but she didn't want to give up just yet.Whenever she encountered something she didn't understand, she would ask Abraxas, but she soon discovered that he was not really a good teacher. He often couldn't answer Eleanor's tricky questions.

"Don't worry, those things won't come out in the exam." Abraxas had no choice but to comfort her like this.

"Maybe," said Eleanor with a weary look on her face. She had been sitting at her desk for hours on end, and it was driving her crazy.

In the end, Eleanor fell asleep on the sofa with her Transfiguration textbook in her arms.

"What's wrong with her?" Avery who just came back from the outside asked softly.

"She's just too sleepy." Abraxas yawned big. "I'm going back to bed too."

Avery looked away from Eleanor's face.

"You go to bed," he said, "I'll stay here with her for a little while."

"Well," said Abraxas sleepily, "maybe you can teach her Transfiguration."

Avery carefully pulled out the book from Eleanor's arms and placed it on the coffee table, then slowly sat down beside her.He moved very lightly, trying not to disturb her as much as possible.

Soon, the last remaining students in the common room also returned to their dormitories.

Avery watched the last person disappear behind the bedroom door, and then turned to look at Eleanor who was sleeping soundly.

"Wake up." He whispered.

But Eleanor didn't respond, she was too sound asleep.

Avery stared at her peaceful sleeping face, suddenly not wanting to wake her up.He could barely take his eyes off her face.

For the first time, he noticed that her skin was very fair, even a little pale.It made her look even more like a ghost. Her chest was rising and falling slightly, and she was constantly exhaling warm breath from the end of her nose, gently blowing her black hair.

Her eyelashes are thick and slightly curled up.Avery could almost picture her clear green eyes when they opened.

Thinking of gems, Avery suddenly remembered the gift that had never been given. So he took out the little box containing the hairpin from his pocket. He opened the lid of the box and took out the hairpin.

He found that this gift could not be delivered because he could not find a suitable reason. He never even knew when Eleanor's birthday was.

He turned his head to stare at Eleanor, and suddenly came up with an idea.So he leaned forward and pinned the hairpin on Eleanor's bangs.

——Just as he had imagined before, this hairpin fits perfectly on her jet-black hair.Avery couldn't help being dazed, and then he slowly approached Eleanor's face.

He never knew that there was a fragrance in the girl's breath.

He felt his cheeks suddenly bloodshot.

But he couldn't stop himself.

He moved closer to Eleanor's lips until there was almost negligible distance between their lips.

At this time, he suddenly saw a person standing at the door of the boys' dormitory from the corner of his eye.

He jerked his head up to find Tom leaning against the wall in his dark green pajamas.Avery sat up straight suddenly, his whole body full of vigilance.

But Tom just looked away coldly, turned and went back to the boys' dormitory.

"How long has he been standing there?" Avery whispered to himself. He swore that he was absolutely right. Tom's gaze just now became extremely gloomy.

Tom hadn't given him a good look since the last incident, but Avery had never seen Tom look at him with that bleak look just now.If this wasn't the common room, he even doubted that Tom would cast him a curse.

But Avery couldn't figure out where he had offended Tom these days. When Avery set his eyes on Eleanor, he suddenly realized that Tom was probably angry because of the incident just now.

Perhaps Tom had just mistook them for a kiss—or rather, he was kissing her secretly.

If so...

Avery was taken aback by what he thought.
