Chapter 065 An Unpleasant Breakfast
In the morning, when Eleanor woke up, Tom was gone.
She turned over and found that the bed beside her was still slightly warm.He must have just left, she thought.
She stretched and got up from the bed, when suddenly she heard a knock on the door.
"Sorry to bother you." The person standing outside the door turned out to be Cloris, who looked haggard and looked at Eleanor anxiously, "I just wanted to see if you got up. Uh...maybe we Can we have breakfast together?"
Cloris changed her previous arrogant attitude, and her expression contained obvious begging elements.
Eleanor knew very well why Cloris had suddenly approached her, but she had no objection to taking a companion to breakfast in the hall.
"Okay, let's go together." Eleanor replied, "But I need to freshen up first."
Soon, they left the common room arm in arm like a pair of close friends.Cloris' hand gripped Eleanor's wrist tightly, as if afraid she would run away.
In the hall, Eleanor saw Tom drinking coffee and reading the Daily Prophet. He looked relaxed, as if nothing happened yesterday.
She walked straight past him, and suddenly heard a voice calling out to herself, "Good morning, Alford, and Cloris."
Eleanor lowered her head, frowned and looked at the guy who made the sound, and at the same time felt that Cloris' hand holding her wrist trembled.
"Damn it, Lestrange, what do you want?" she said disapprovingly.
"Relax, I'm not doing anything." He gave a fake smirk, "I just wanted to ask, why don't you sit with us?"
"Oh, for God's sake, I don't want to spoil my appetite," said Eleanor.
Lestrange's expression instantly became ugly.He turned to Cloures beside Eleanor, and said in a blunt and cold tone, "Sit down, Cloures—with your new friend."
Cloris took a deep breath, forced a smile, and sat down on the chair just across from Tom.
Eleanor looked at Cloris in surprise.Immediately afterwards, she couldn't help noticing a smug expression on Lestrange's face.
He must have discovered Cloris' secret.Eleanor couldn't help wondering. That's why Cloris listened to him so much.
Eleanor suddenly wondered what Lestrange wanted to do.So she chose the nearest place, and sat down next to Tom.
And Tom read the damned Daily Prophet all the while without looking up.Eleanor glanced at his profile with dissatisfaction—is it so difficult to say hello? Is he really going to pretend that nothing happened before?
Just when Eleanor was thinking wildly, she heard Lestrange start talking again, still in his usual drawn-out voice, "So, you two really became friends? "
Cloris glanced at Eleanor, "Well, yes."
Eleanor didn't expose her, but frowned at Lestrange, "What are you trying to say?"
"You don't have to be wary of me all the time, Eleanor—can I call you that?" Lestrange said with a smirk. "You can call me Zachary, too."
"Permit me to decline. We haven't gotten to know each other that well yet." Eleanor said coldly, turning her head. "Would you please pass me that bowl of beans, Tom?"
Tom just raised his eyes from the Daily Prophet, and he said calmly, as if he had just noticed Eleanor, "Good morning." Then he pushed the bowl of weird beans with ketchup to Ellie. in front of Nuo.
"Thank you." Eleanor replied.
As she was scooping the beans, she suddenly felt that Lestrange was staring at her intently. So she knocked on the bowl with a spoon in dissatisfaction as a warning.
But Lestrange was still staring at her meaningfully, with an odd smile on his lips.He took a sip of black tea and looked up at Tom, "By the way, when is our next meeting?"
Tom put down the newspaper heavily, "I don't know, I haven't decided yet."
"What party?" Eleanor glanced at Tom.
Tom looked at her out of the corner of his eye, but quickly looked away when he realized Eleanor was looking at him too.
"I'll tell you when I decide, Zachary." His tone became much colder.
"So you'll come too, Eleanor?" Lestrange fiddled with the napkin, staring at Eleanor maliciously.
"Why should I attend your party?" Eleanor frowned.
"Oh, nothing." Lestrange shrugged. "I was just assuming that maybe Tom already invited you."
"Why do you think so?" This is what Eleanor said.
"What does that mean?" Tom said almost at the same time, and then he reacted as quickly as possible, and added coldly: "Of course there is no such thing."
Cloris looked at them in surprise.
Eleanor cast a quick glance at Tom.Oh hell, he's started reading that Daily Prophet again.
"But since you've got an intimate relationship with one of us, there's nothing wrong with coming to our party. What do you say, Tom?" said Lestrange.
"What's an 'intimate relationship'?" Tom said quietly, turning the newspaper to the next page.Eleanor could not help noticing that he had already seen that page long ago.
"I mean Cloris, since the two of them have become close friends, shouldn't Eleanor be able to join our small circle?" Lestrange said.
Tom glanced at Eleanor and sneered, "No, she is not qualified. You should know that we only accept people who are good enough to join us."
This sentence made Eleanor a little angry.Although she didn't want to go to any party, she also didn't want to be underestimated by Tom.
"Then what do you think is good enough?" Eleanor blurted out dissatisfied.
Tom looked up at her for a moment without saying a word.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I forgot that you are a Muggle." Lestrange said with a smirk suddenly, "We have the most basic standard, which is to be able to use spells at least at the fifth grade level. For example Say—turn this cup of tea into wine. It's a pity you can't do it, Elinor."
Lestrange's words completely aroused Eleanor's competitive spirit.
"Give me your wand," she said, holding out her hand to Tom.
Then she raised Tom's wand, and pointed at the glass, while all were watching in amazement.
"Tell me the spell," she said, looking down at Cloures.
Cloris opened his eyes slightly, and told her about the spell and the movement of his wand.Eleanor took a deep breath and said the incantation.
The cup looked unchanged.
Lestrange let out a short sneer.
"Don't be discouraged, because we don't expect you to actually do it," he said.
Eleanor sighed in disappointment. It seems that her spell does not work all the time.
But at this moment, Tom picked up the cup and put it to his nose to smell it.
"Champagne," he said coldly, "it looks a bit like black tea, but it's not black tea."
"Really?" Eleanor said excitedly, and quickly took the glass back from Tom's hand and took a sip. "God, I really did it!"
"What? It's impossible!" Lestrange exclaimed in surprise.
Eleanor narrowed her eyes and smiled and handed him the glass of wine, "The rest is yours. The taste is not bad."
Lestrange stared at the glass of wine, a scowl evident on his face.He put the wine heavily on the table and said coldly: "I thought you were a Muggle, Alford."
See, now he's calling her Alford again.Eleanor knew he didn't really want to get close to her, but what she didn't understand was why the fact that she wasn't a Muggle disappointed him so much.
"I don't know what's going on." Eleanor shrugged and said, "What happened to me is too bizarre. Don't forget, I came back from the dead. Or many of the previous 'suddenly become a wizard' Nothing surprising."
Lestrange suddenly became angry, "You're lying! No one suddenly becomes a wizard, understand? Muggles are Muggles, and they will never become wizards in their lifetime!"
"Why should I lie?" Eleanor looked at him strangely, wondering where did his anger come from?
"You look very proud, Alford." Lestrange said with a sneer. "You say that what happened to you is too bizarre-according to me, you are not a normal person at all, you are a A complete monster. I'll find out what's in you, just wait and see."
After he finished speaking, he grabbed his backpack and stood up. Before leaving, he gave Eleanor a hard look.
