Just a bit twisted
Chapter 1
Mrs. Hawkins was going to kill him.
Sean looked at his watch and made a sad face.It was one o'clock in the morning; he had promised Mrs. Hawkins to be home by midnight.
Prepared mentally, he opened the door as silently as possible.Emily was always a light sleeper.
Sean closed the door, the creak making him frown.damn it.
"Mr. Wyatt?" said Mrs. Hawkins, rubbing her eyes and sitting up on the sofa.
Sean glanced at the twins, as if he didn't wake them up.He walked over to the children's nanny. Not long to go: the apartment is small.
Mrs. Hawkins frowned and looked unhappy.
"I'm sorry," Sean said before the other party could speak. "I'm really, really sorry. It won't be like this again, I promise. I can't be back early. Business was bad tonight, and I didn't get much tips. Give me enough money to pay you for the week, So I just had to wait until I had enough money.
Mrs. Hawkins pursed her lips. She sighed. "Mr. Wyatt - Sean. I understand your position - it's the only reason I'm here - but you must understand mine too. I have a family too, and I spend fifteen hours a day I'm staying here as long as I want, looking after two high-spirited four-year-olds. You're not paying me enough."
"I'm going to find another job," Sean said quickly, trying to calm down the panic that was building up in his heart. "I'll find a better job and give you extra money."
The other party sighed again and shook his head. "That's what you said last month, Sean." She looked at the little girls. "I appreciate your hard work, but it won't work. You're only 20 years old. You can have a better life. They can have a better life. Why don't you find them a good home?"
"No," he said, his tone hardening. "They already have a home. They have me."
"They don't even see your face. They ask about you all day. They miss you."
Sean looked down at them.Emily and Little Bee curled up together, their chubby little faces almost touching each other.
A lump formed in his throat. "I miss them too." He looked at Mrs. Hawkins. "Please. I'll figure it out. It's really not going to happen again." He took his wallet out of his backpack and handed him all the money in it. "Take it, please accept it."
She shook her head, but took the money anyway. "Think about what I said, Sean," she said, grabbing her bag and leaving.
Sean locked the door and went back to bed.
Kneeling by the bed, his chin on the mattress, he stared at the twins.
Their platinum-blond hair looked almost golden in the dim light. They looked like a pair of little angels.
Sean closed his eyes.God, he was so tired, but sleeping was the last thing on his mind.He didn't need to open the refrigerator to know that there was no food in it: he knew exactly how long it would last. After tomorrow, they can only drink northwest wind.
Despair hit his throat, followed by resentment and anger.
Sean put these emotions aside. It doesn't help to be angry that their parents died after running into huge debts, leaving their siblings with nothing. He has no time to waste on this.He needs money.Want it now.
But how to make money? He's already working two jobs.
"Sean?"
Sean opened his eyes.A sister woke up.When he realized that he couldn't tell which of them was which, a wave of panic ran through him.Is this Emily or Little Bee?
"Baby?" he said hoarsely, the words coming through the lump in his throat.
The little girl sat up slowly, careful not to wake her sister, and Shawn breathed a sigh of relief. This is Emily: she is more mature and considerate than the high-energy and nervous little bee.
Emily reached out to him, and Sean picked her up in his arms. "Hey, little princess," he whispered, kissing her temple and taking a deep breath of her sweet breath.
"You're home," said Emily, putting her little arms around his neck. "really miss you."
"Me too," murmured Sean, stroking her back.sorry. "Did you guys have a good time when I went out?"
Emily nodded. "We played for a long time, but Huo Laoying ① forbade us to go outside!"
① "Hawkins" is written as Hawkins, and hawk means "eagle". Here, Emily directly calls Mrs. Hawkins "Hawk".
"Don't call Mrs. Hawkins that." But he could only suppress a smile. "anything else?"
"A big man came after breakfast. He has a letter for you, but Huo Laoying won't allow us to touch it."
"A letter, isn't it?" Sean stood up, hugged Emily to his chest, and walked to his desk. "Let's see."
He picked up the envelope and went back to the lamp by the bed.Glancing at it, his heart sank when he recognized where it had been mailed from.
"What is it?" Emily asked.
Sean opened the envelope, took out the letter paper inside and began to read.
"...The score is not up to the standard..." "... If there is no improvement..." "...The student reaches a certain number of credits or the scholarship will be revoked..."
The letter slipped from his fingers to the ground, and he didn't even feel it.
"Sean? Is something bad going on?"
He looked down into Emily's large blue eyes and forced a smile. "No, Pumpkin. Everything is fine." Burying his face in her hair, he closed his eyes.
House seemingly endless rain.
