Just a bit twisted
Chapter 2
"What happened?" A familiar voice sounded, followed by an arm on Sean's shoulder.
Sean glanced at Christian, but continued on his way.Their next class was 10 minutes away, and he couldn't be late for this class. "fine."
"Fart. Say it quickly." The friend's big dark brown eyes stared at him curiously.
Sean shrugged. "I'm broke. Not only that, but if I fail three subjects, my scholarship will be revoked."
Christian frowned. "I thought you had explained your situation to Bates and Summers."
Sean sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "Yeah. But there's fluid mechanics."
Christian smiled wryly. "Rutledge."
"Yes," Sean said miserably.
As the youngest tenured professor in the school, Derek Rutledge is called "professor jerk" for no reason.Strict and demanding, he has unattainable demands on his students, and he sneers at those who fail to meet them.He has no tolerance for "laziness".Because Sean was constantly absent from his classes and often missed homework deadlines, he was probably one of Rutledge's most hated students—if anyone was ever to be seen. The possibility of Rutledge letting him down is simply not there.Rutledge won't let anyone down. His request was almost absurd, but in the eyes of the school board, Rutledge was doing the right thing, because he brought a lot of research funding to the school—that is, a lot of it.Sean had to admire Rutledge—it's impossible for a man to become a highly regarded scientific researcher at the age of 33 without his astonishing IQ—but that didn't change the fact that he was an out-and-out researcher. Asshole fact.
"What are you going to do?" Christian said.
"I don't know." Sean took their old seat at the front of the lecture hall: Rutledge had ordered him and Christian to sit there every time he caught them talking in class.Sean sat down and sighed. "what do I do?"
"I hope I can help you too." Christian took a seat next to him. "But you know I don't have a lot of money."
Sean nodded.Christian lives with his grandmother and helps her as best he can.His parents were working abroad and couldn't be of much help.
"Where's your aunt?" Christian said. "In my impression, doesn't she often help you through difficulties?"
Sean didn't speak, just glared at him. "She passed away last year, Chris. I told you."
Christian's face turned red all of a sudden. "Damn, I'm sorry—I somehow—"
Sean shook his head. "Forget it." It's not like Christian didn't take him seriously; he's just too popular, and has more friends than Sean knows. It's not surprising that he can't remember such things.
"Where's your cousin—is his name Sage?" Christian smiled sheepishly. "See, I'm not hopeless! I remember him!"
Sean laughed. "You're hopeless. He just got out of jail recently and his life needs to be sorted out. No need to make my troubles worse for him. Besides, I'm not asking for money. I mean lat Professor Leach. If I don't get good grades in his class, I'll lose my scholarship and have to drop out." Although sometimes Sean wonders if dropping out would be better: if he doesn't go to school, It is easier to find a decent job. It's just that if you have a college degree, you are more likely to find a well-paid job, and you can give Emily and Little Bee everything they need to grow up.
"Actually," Christian said abruptly. "I heard an interesting gossip about Rutledge."
"What gossip?"
Christian glanced around, as if making sure no one would hear them, then leaned over and whispered into Sean's ear, "Tuck said that Professor Rutledge has no resistance to fresh meat."
Sean blinked. "Impossible. He's fooling you!"
"It's all right, he's serious. Looks like someone bumped into Rutledge with some young man."
Sean choked out a laugh and shook his head. "Even if it's true, what does it have to do with me?"
Christian stared at him.
Sean opened his mouth, closed it, and opened it again. "Are you kidding me?"
Christian raised an eyebrow. "Tucker says Rutledge has a soft spot for blondes."
"In that case, you're out of the game."
Christian smiled and ran his fingers through his tousled brown hair. "Cut. Hair color wouldn't be a problem if I wanted to. But it's easier for you, blonde. Come on, man, it's the perfect solution!"
Sean looked at him sadly. "But, there's a small problem. I'm straight."
His friend looked indifferent; and he actually had a smile on his face. "So what? I didn't ask you to present chrysanthemums. But if the other party is knowledgeable, it can actually be very cool." Christian grinned, and Sean snorted.Christian is bisexual and outspoken.
"Chris—"
"I'm just saying you can be flirtatious and all that, don't be serious with him, you know? That's where you look. I mean - you're not my thing, but I'm not blind either. You're handsome Yes. Definitely the most handsome boy in the school."
"You're not an ugly duckling yourself." Everyone loves Christian.Although he is not handsome in the traditional definition, in fact, everyone thinks he is very attractive.Christian makes it hard to look away.Even though he's straight, Sean sometimes stops to stare at his friend's smiling face.
Christian blinked. "The ugly duckling is definitely not, but I'm not as beautiful as you, Your Royal Highness."
"Oh, I told you to see and see, Your Royal Highness!" Xiao En gave him a head lock, and the two laughed loudly.
"Student Wyatt, student Ashford, have you two had enough trouble?" A cold voice came from behind them.
Sean froze the whole person first, and then let go of his friend and sat up straight.Rutledge couldn't even look at the man as he walked past them to his podium. The whole classroom fell silent for a moment.
"Fuck," Christian murmured, as Rutledge stopped and stood in front of the podium without saying a word.
Sean bit his lip hard, and sneaked a glance at the professor.Rutledge's dark eyes fixed on Christian, his dark brows furrowed, his lips tightened in displeasure.Even when he wasn't displeased with others, Professor Rutledge's gaze was unsettling. When he was really dissatisfied, no one would want to bear his heavy stare.Sean thought he was like a hawk, always ready to swoop down to catch its prey.
Rutledge's eyes shifted from Christian to him.He looked more unhappy, if "more" at all, a muscle twitching in his cheek.Sean's stomach constricted. He licked his lips, trying to look as respectful as possible, forcing himself to keep eye contact with the professor. He's not a coward, damn it.Rutledge is just mortal.
Rutledge pursed his lips into a thin slit. "Mr. Wyatt," he said softly.
Sean swallowed nervously.Rutledge's voice has a quality, the lower the volume, the more intimidating it is. "Yes, Professor?"
"If you and Ashford are not interested in what I teach here, you can leave."
Looking at the man's cold face, Sean inadvertently thought of Christian's suggestion and almost laughed out loud—it was so ridiculous.
"No, sir. I mean, we're all interested." Rutledge's face remained motionless, and Sean added, "Actually, I wanted to talk to you about my credits after class. "
Rutledge looked at him for a moment, then replied dryly, "I don't have office hours today." He took a seat behind his desk and began his lecture.
Sean looked at him blankly, not sure what Rutledge's answer meant. Is it OK or not?For example, is it "I don't have office hours so you can come" or "I don't have office hours so you can't"?
very good.wonderful.
Sean sighed.
