That Alien Feeling
Chapter 21
As soon as he got there, Keza got out of the car and said coldly, "I hope you don't wait for me to pull you like a child. Go by yourself."
Harry followed behind him, watching his back, daring not to speak out.People's attitude towards Keza had always been somewhere between unfriendly wariness and fear, and Harry hadn't understood why before, until now.
Sean smiled and opened the door. The moment he saw Keza, his smile disappeared. He turned pale, then flushed red.
"I won't go." He opened his mouth to say that, with a stubborn expression on his face.
"I'll deal with you later." Keza pushed him away with his shoulder, walked into the house, and ordered concisely: "Close the door, Hachter."
Harry closed the door and folded his arms across his chest in a defensive position. "I'm not leaving either."
Keza turned around, shooting vicious eyes at them.Harry subconsciously took a step closer to Sean.He had to remind himself that this was his brother, not a stranger.Although he tried to relax himself, he still remembered the super vibe that Keza had exerted on him.It stands to reason that Keza's ability should not be strong enough to do those things, but he did.Maybe he had to admit, after all, that he didn't know Keza at all.
"Tell you," Sean said, throwing his long silver hair back over his shoulders. "I won't let you teach me like a child who has made mistakes. You have to speak straight and don't scare us."
"If you don't want to be treated like a child, then don't be so naive." Keza glanced at Sean, with a hint of sarcasm at the corner of his mouth. Then he looked at Harry. "It's up to you to explain."
Harry glared at him. "What else should I explain? You already know it all. You've read everything in my head—without asking me if I agree."
"What?" Sean turned his head sharply, staring at Harry. "He—but how could he do it?"
Sean knew how powerful Harry's senses were now, so of course he couldn't figure it out.Harry wished he knew the answer too.
Keza unbuttoned his coat and threw it on the sofa. "I didn't read them all," he said. "I was in shock. My brother who was supposed to bond had sex with a member of the ex-TNIT civilization."
Harry flushed. "You have no right to peek into my mind like that. You broke the law!"
"In this case, I think the parliament will understand," Kesa said. "If you hadn't behaved so dissolutely in front of that earthling, I wouldn't have forced my way in. Where's your bond?"
"The bond was gone before I last returned to Kaluvia from Earth," said Harry. "I don't want to rebuild the bond, and now all my senses are much sharper than before."
Keza glanced at him lightly. "I knew it was for this."
Harry pouted. "My senses have never been stronger."
"Hmm," Keza said dryly. "I saw how you used it to get to this city."
Harry looked away guiltily.Sean defended him and said, "You hypocrite, you invaded Harry's privacy in the worst possible way, and you have no right to criticize him." His green eyes narrowed. "Also, how did you do it? Harry is at least level 3 now, and you should be level 2. You should be."
"I didn't approve you to speak." Keza cast a cold look in Sean's direction. "Stand aside. This is a chore."
Sean gave him a sweet smile and blew a kiss. "But we're family, aren't we?"
Keza gritted his teeth. "Not yet."
"Never," Sean corrected him. "If you sneak into Harry's memory, you should know why I came to Earth. I also want to get rid of the bond."
Keza didn't show the slightest emotion on his face. "I have to deal with more important things now, and I don't have time to deal with your petty temper. Wait in another room, and I'll talk about it after I finish dealing with Hachter."
Sean blushed with anger. "You—you can't just—you can't do this to me!" He straightened up, glaring at Keza. "I am Prince Shin'enh' Waheli of the Third Clan, not your hapless slave."
"That's kind of princely." Keza dropped the words and stared at Harry sharply. "Stop worrying about that earthling, he's fine. I just removed that little memory of you crashing out of control."
Harry pursed his lips. "I don't believe you," he said. "You swear to me, you didn't erase all his memories of me." There was fear in his voice.Adam didn't even glance in his direction as they left the café.He's been scared ever since.
Keza was silent for a moment, with a look on his face that Harry couldn't understand.
"I haven't, but that's the best policy, isn't it?" he finally said. "If he forgets you completely, that's good for everyone. He'll never see you again."
Harry felt his eyes burning and his throat tightening. He begged Keza with his eyes.
Keza still had a sullen face. "You two, pack up and go. Leave nothing behind. You won't be coming back. Let's go."
Harry felt a pain in his chest. It was uncomfortable and painful, as if someone was ravaging his heart, squeezing out every drop of blood.
Sean let out a distressed "Hmm", put his arm around Harry's shoulder, and glared at Keza. "You fucking are so cruel to your own brother? You bastard!"
Keza raised the corner of his mouth, revealing a mocking smile. "It's a good thing I know you're of royal blood, or else I'd have thought you were a scum of a Savakhu whore. Cut the swear words, kid."
Sean growled. "Don't call me a child!"
"Then what should I call the brat?"
Harry couldn't take it anymore.Looking at Keza's unmoved expression, he knew he had to go.Keza has made up his mind.Harry never came back.He will never come back.
He never saw Adam again.
"I love him," Harry said softly. "Isn't that even important?"
Keza and Sean stopped talking and turned to look at him.
Sean sighed. "Sorry, Harry."
But Harry didn't look at him.He looked at his brother's frozen face. "Doesn't it matter how I feel?" He chokes at the end of the sentence. He hated how weak he looked, but the truth was too much for him: his older brother, the one who taught him to ride Juke'chi and comforted him every time he fell, the one who made him look like a puppy when he was young. The person who seemed to be following around behind him—that Keza, didn't care whether he was happy or not.very sad. This is a different kind of sadness than the "never see Adam again" kind.
Keza's expression loosened a bit. "You don't love him," he said grumpily. "You're just obsessed with him. You're not used to being out of bondage, it's all so new to you, there's so much feeling you can't control yet. It'll pass."
Harry shook his head. "I need him," he said, looking Keza in the eye. "My spirit, my heart, my body, I need him."
Sean beside him choked, but Harry wasn't ashamed. It was too important to him to care about embarrassment.
Keza clenched his jaw.He showed obvious discomfort, as if he didn't expect Harry to be so blunt, so shameless.
"Sensuality and love, you're confusing," Keza said. "You're too young and unsophisticated to know the difference."
"Wait," Shane interrupted suddenly. "What does it mean? How do you know the difference?"
"None of your business." Keza didn't look at Sean, his silver eyes were still fixed on Harry. "Hacht, you think he loves you? I read his mind."
Harry opened his mouth blankly.Didn't Adam love him?
"He loves you like crazy," Keza admitted reluctantly. "But what got him obsessed was a cute and eccentric earthling he met in a coffee shop, not a sentient monster alien." Keza looked at him almost with pity. "You underestimated how the truth would change his feelings for you."
"Not necessarily," Sean said.
"Sure." Keza continued to stare at Harry. "I've seen a few incidents of contact with outlying civilizations like Earth. They tend to get pretty nasty. Aside from xenophobia, non-sentient races are always wary of sentient beings. They don't like being able to mess with their minds, manipulate Aliens who do everything."
"In my opinion, if you mess with Adam's mind, it won't play a positive role in changing this xenophobic situation." Sean mocked him.
"No, it won't change," Keza said. "So, even if I let you tell him, his reaction would break your heart, Hachter. I don't want you to be hurt."
"You've hurt me," said Harry quietly.Even if Keza was right—even if Adam reacted horribly to the truth—it couldn't be worse than this terrible sense of loss and guilt that wrenched his stomach. He wants Adam.He wanted to see him, to snuggle up to him, to hide in his strong arms.He wanted Adam's kisses to fall behind his ears, to hear Adam call him baby, to tell him that as long as he was around Adam, everything would be fine.Even with Adam's worst response, Harry wanted the chance to explain everything and say goodbye. This is what Adam deserves.Adam should not have been kept in the dark.
"Please," said Harry, looking into Keza's eyes, opening his mind to him so Keza could see.
Keza looked away with a bitter face. "It's pointless to talk too much. You can't continue like this, we need to rebuild your bond with Leilan 'Heaney' Gull as soon as possible."
"why?"
Keza sighed, a look of annoyance flashing across his face. "Not long after you left, Leilan 'Heaney' Goul and her parents arrived at the palace. They reported that she could not perceive you. Her bond was still there, but something was wrong, and it had weakened. I reassure them that it's just the distance between you, but they're already nervous and suspicious, especially now that you've disappeared. We need to rebuild your bond before they report it to the council."
"Why?" Harry looked at Sean.Sean was silent for a while, which wasn't quite his style. He was looking at Keza with a strange expression.
"Because they can't find out that your bond is gone," Keza said. "If found out, how do you think they will react?"
Harry folded his arms across his chest. "It was just an accident that I lost my bond, and I don't think they're going to arrest me for it. And, technically, they can't make me bond with Leilan 'Heaney' Gull again, because the Bond Law only applies for children."
Keza wiped his face and shook his head. "Don't be naive. Of course they can." He looked at Harry. "There is still a marriage contract between you and Leilan 'Heaney' Gul. Do you really think that the council will let you go? Their own sensibilities are suppressed by the bonds, how can you be the only potential one among them?" high-level sensor?"
Harry collapsed on the sofa, frowning deeply. "I'm pretty sure I'm only level 3 at most. I'm not that dangerous."
Keza looked at him with a headache. "Do you think they will accept your argument?" He sneered twice. "Tell me, how many civilizations have sensors above level 3?"
Harry bit his lip.He understood what Keza meant. He could only think of two races that had reached level 4 on the standard test of induction.
"Yogbus and Tajiksu," said Harry.
"Then do you really think that there are only two races in the entire galaxy with level 4 sensors? There are no higher level sensors?"
"You can get away with the test." Before Harry could speak, Sean answered quietly. "Maybe, the stronger the ability, the easier it is to deceive them."
Keza nodded. "They will never believe that you have a level 3 ability. They will always monitor you, which is only the most benign means. They will fabricate some misdemeanor charges against you, or use you as a tool to achieve their political goals."
"What political purpose?" Harry asked.
A trace of coldness flashed in Keza's eyes. "Certain members of the council insist that the results of the standard tests are not reliable, and that sentients should be banned from serving as clan leaders, as it would lead to abuse of power and be 'unfair' to unsensed members of the council."
Harry frowned. In Kaluvia, there has always been a certain degree of tension between those who are sensitive and those who are not. He also knows that this relationship has deteriorated recently, but it should not reach that point, right? "But the leaders of most clans have senses."
Keza gave him a helpless look. "Parliament is not just made up of clan chiefs. The royal family only has 24 seats, the rest are elected members, and most of them are insensitive, do I need to remind you?"
indeed.
"So you think they're going to use me to push their case?" Harry asked.
"Not to me," Keza said. "I know they will. You've used your telepathy on the Earthlings, and that's just the perfect excuse they need. So you've got to rebuild the bond, Hachter."
Harry's heart was getting heavier and heavier. If everything was as Keza said, he had no choice. He would never forgive himself if his mother lost the throne because of him.
"Instead of doing this, those insensitive people should find a way to abolish the "Binding Law,"" Sean muttered. "That's in their best interest. They're always complaining that their sensitivity is so low that it's close to nothing. Why don't they think of a way to enhance their abilities?"
Harry shook his head. "Because the abolition of the "Bond Law" may not be more beneficial to them. They must be afraid that the ability of the sensor will be stronger after the bond is lifted."
"Yes," Keza said. "Some people think that after the bond is released, the non-sensing person can probably have a level 1 sensing ability, but the sensing person will become...incalculably dangerous."
Harry flinched. On the one hand, he can understand why those who are insensitive are afraid. It is believed that High Sensers are capable of completely erasing or altering a person's memories. They can make you completely unrecognizable to your own mother. They can give you any idea.No spirit shield can help you against them. They can damage or lock down a part of your brain, paralyze you, or kill you. They can make you feel tortured. Level 7 sensors can kill people with their consciousness. They only need to move a thought to stop the vital organs that you depend on for survival.
The possibility of working with such powerful sentient beings is no wonder that the unsentimental members of Parliament feel uneasy. And Harry doubted that even the Sentinels in Parliament would support the abolition of the Bonding Act.Unleashing their potential may be attractive to some of them, but after the "Bond Law" is abolished and all bonds are lifted, who can guarantee that their abilities will definitely be stronger than others and not the opposite?Repealing the Bond Act could upend the current class structure, which is clearly not what Parliament wants. Those in power prefer to maintain the status quo unless change benefits them. The Bond Law will never be repealed. If the Council found out about Harry's loss of bond, he'd be a thorn in their side.
Harry slumped back on the sofa. "What choice do I have but to go back and renew my bond with Leilan 'Heaney' Gul?"
His brother looked at him with almost pity. "No."
"Bullshit," Sean said.
Harry turned to look at him. "Um?"
Sean stared at Keza closely. "You didn't bond with me, did you?"
Harry frowned. What is Sean talking about?
He looked over at Keza, noticing that his poker face was a little unnatural.
"I don't understand what you're talking about." Keza said lightly.
Sean laughed. "You think I'm stupid? The symptoms of Leilan 'Heaney' Gul you mentioned just now sound very similar to mine. I don't feel that you are on the other side of the bond, and mine is very Weak, very wrong." He tilted his head. "So, how high level have you reached? Level 4? Level 5? More terrifying? Or should I say, more powerful? I think we finally understand why you bastard is so overbearing."
Keza clenched his jaw, his muscles twitching faintly.
But he didn't deny it at all.
Harry glared at his brother. "Keza? Is this true?"
Keza looked at Harry, then at Sean, apparently calculating something.
"Erase our memory? Don't even think about it." Sean looked on guard. "My spirit shield is very sophisticated and has a distinct personality. You can't rebuild it without flaws. I will definitely find out that it was destroyed, and then I will go to the spirit. You certainly don't want them to find out what you did ——Or they find out that my bond is only one-way."
Keza pursed his lips.It seems that he did have the idea of erasing their memories just now.Harry couldn't believe he was doing this.
Sheen smiled and said, "So, you can be unbonded, but Harry can't, huh? What a fucking hypocrisy."
"It's different," Keza said.
Sean raised an eyebrow. "Give me some inspiration, what's the difference?"
"Our bond never worked properly," Keza said slowly, as if choosing his words carefully. "I'm not quite sure why this happened. Maybe I was too much older than you, or maybe I was well past the optimal age to form a bond. Or maybe the pain of my original bond's death prevented me from forming a new bond." Whatever the reason, our bond was flawed from the start. You never sensed me through the bond, so you didn't know it was abnormal. Leilan 'Heaney' Goole and Harry Your bond has always been perfect, so of course she'll find something's wrong now. You'll never know the difference."
"So you're using my blind spots against me, and I've been growing up wondering if there's something wrong with me." Sean's voice faltered, but Harry didn't think Ursa would notice.Sean laughed a little. "Very well. It's over, and I hate you as much as I can. I'm just curious: what were you going to do about two years from now? Pretend we're married? Play tricks on my brain and make me Do you think our bond is okay?"
Keza was expressionless.Harry suspected Sean was on to something.terrible.
"I haven't figured it out yet," Keza said. "But that's a way."
Shane paled with anger.
Keza ignored him, turning his gaze to Harry. "Anyway, it's none of your business. Leilan 'Heaney' Goole is sure to find out—she's already. You don't need to mention, she's not bonded to me, so I can't 'do her brains It's a trick' to make her feel like everything is normal. Even if it's going to fool you for a while, it's not going to work in the long run. It won't work."
Harry's shoulders slumped. In any case, manipulating the consciousness of Leilan 'Heaney' Gul was a poor thing to do.Fortunately, he said to himself, it didn't work out.
Keza said, "If you don't go back, her parents will report to the council. The consequences are... terrible. You have to go back, Harry."
Harry.
For some reason, it made Harry sad to hear his brother call him by his Earth name. Finally did not escape. He is going back.He has no choice.
Harry swallowed the lump in his throat. "Then let me write him a few words. I can't just disappear without a trace. I can't do that to him, Keza."
His brother studied him for a moment, then nodded. "Long story short. Don't mention anything that will get you in trouble. Come on. Our time is precious."
Harry turned and walked into Adam's bedroom. He found a pen and paper in a drawer in Adam's room.He had to concentrate like hell to make sure he was writing in English. The translation chip is not very good at writing.
Tears were blurring his vision, and his hands were shaking, making writing even more difficult. He wrote a few short messages, the words did not convey the meaning.
By the end, Harry could barely read the writing - he couldn't read anything.
He left the note on Adam's bed and wiped his eyes.
He looked around and his eyes fell on a photo - Adam with his arms around his parents. He had a big smile, was handsome and happy.
Tears welled up in Harry's eyes again.
Biting his trembling lips, he took the photo out of the frame, folded it carefully, and hid it in his pocket.
"Ready, Hachter? Time to go," Keza called to him from the door.Sean stood behind him, his face sullen, his wrist firmly in Keza's.
"Grab my hand," Keza ordered, extending his other hand to Harry.
Harry stared at his hands.
He looked around the room one last time, looked at the note on the bed, and took a step towards his brother.
Keza might have noticed the tears in his eyes, but he said nothing.Their hands clasped together, and the world—the Earth—was drifting away.Keza took them.
This time, it's forever.
