The phone rang.

The phone rang again.

"Jamie," Ryan said. "Stop it."

"I've had enough of it," James said. "I'm tired of feeling guilty about my feelings. I'm really sick of it." "I'm tired, Ryan," Jamie's voice was almost inaudible. "If you still care about me, let me go. Go back to Hannah and be happy. You were happy with her until I got involved."

For a long time, only Ryan's breathing came from the receiver.

Then Ryan asked, "So what do you do?"
