On the quiet streets of the capital, no sound could be heard except for the occasional footsteps of patrolling soldiers guarding the city's safety.

A man walked leisurely along the empty street, then turned carefully into an alley.

"I know you're there." He raised his chin slightly and glanced at the man following behind him.

"I did it on purpose."

"You are so brave that you actually followed me in my territory." Wen Jinkai said, turning around and seeing the figure of a familiar man.

“I wouldn’t call it stalking.” Yu Zhen’s voice was full of laughter. The moonlight illuminated his features, revealing a calm smile on his face. It looked out of place, especially in his cold eyes.

"What do you want?" Wen Jinkai hadn't slept all night. He had places to go, houses to break into. His fingers clenched around the small jar of ointment in his hand. He wondered if the bruises would become permanent if he waited too long.

"Warning you." Yu Zhen shrugged nonchalantly. He didn't care that the soldiers patrolling the field were Wen Jinkai's men. He also didn't care about the possibility of being killed - if they could surpass his sword skills.

Wen Jinkai chuckled softly, amused by Yu Zhen's words, and a faint smile appeared on the corner of his mouth. "Last time I checked, this is my battlefield, and everything here is subject to my orders."

Wen Jinkai's face turned serious and grim. "If I want, I can return your head to Han Jian. Do you think I care about this alliance?"

Yu Zhen tilted his head, thinking: "It would be fun to nail your head in the city center and let everyone spit on it."

Wen Jinkai took a step closer, his face full of threats. "Try me."

This time it was Yu Zhen's turn to laugh. "You took the bait with just a little provocation. They weren't lying when they said that the Wuyi commander was just a hollow man."

Wen Jinkai's hand flew to the sword and he said provocatively: "Don't waste time on meaningless nonsense. You want my head? Come and take it."

Yu Zhen shook his head in disappointment. "Can't we have a civilized discussion?"

"The soldiers speak with their swords."

"Uneducated people speak with their fists." Yu Zhen smacked his lips, his hand resting comfortably on the hilt of his sword. He was at ease, his face as calm as ever.

"Just barking, not biting?" Wen Jinkai thought Yu Zhen's words made sense, so he greeted him. They all grew up in the right environment.

Yu Zhen shrugged. "That's not what your comrades said," he paused. "Oh, wait. Dead men tell no tales."

Wen Jinkai's expression became more serious. Immediately, he drew his sword, and Yu Zhen yawned and stretched.

"You get irritated too easily."

"What do you want?" Wen Jinkai roared and threw the scabbard of the great sword in his hand to the ground. The clanking sound caused a small commotion, but it was not enough to attract the attention of the soldiers. He wanted a fair fight.

"Stay away from Li Xueyue."

"Why should I?"

Yu Zhen's originally calm and composed expression suddenly became cold and indifferent. "A man like you will only destroy her."

Wen Jinkai laughed again, with a hint of darkness in his tone. A warning flashed in his eyes. "As if the cold sword's hidden arrows could not kill her, you are a prince, destined to be in the palace, do you think she will be happy in the harem where she is torn to pieces and fed to pigs?"

Yu Zhen just smiled. "Why don't you worry about your own court politics? Last time I checked, the people who raised you tried to send her to the enemy front. Now they're playing with her life."

Wen Jinkai said angrily: "I have it under control."

"How did Princess Hanjian treat you?" Yu Zhen snickered. "For the sake of the country, you were married off like an animal."

Wen Jinkai raised his eyebrows. "Do you want to meet her?"

"Oh?"

"I dug her lifeless body from the grave and prepared to throw it in."

"Will you kill an innocent woman?" Yu Zhen was furious and immediately grabbed the sword.

Wen Jinkai didn't even blink. "Why don't you go ask her?"

"Did you really kill her, you bastard?" Yu Zhen roared.

Wen Jinkai did not answer. "Fight me and find out."

Yu Zhen spoke with his actions. He untied the hilt of his sword and threw the scabbard on the ground, and the heavy equipment gleamed in the moonlight.

"You are the scum of the earth." Yu Zhen cursed angrily.

Wen Jinkai raised his eyebrows. "You make it sound like you're much better now."

"Does Li Xueyue know?" Yu Zhen raised the corner of his mouth.

"what do you know?"

"You defiled the princess before you killed her."

"As if I would touch that pest." Wen Jinkai scolded. "Don't mention my woman's name again."

"Your woman?" Yu Zhen laughed. "You couldn't even court her today. I saw what you did to her, bastard," he hissed, his fingers tightening around the sword. "You hurt her."

Wen Jinkai's stern expression cracked. "This was fucking unintentional—"

"Say that to the scar on her back," Yu Zhen said, then rushed towards Wen Jinkai, drawing his sword and preparing for a duel.

In the blink of an eye, their swords met, pure power radiating from both men. Their stances were perfectly balanced, both men retreating to defend, then charging again. Their swords collided, making a clanking sound, making a noise that neither of them cared about. The only thing that mattered was the blood that was spilled. When their swords met again, it was a whirlwind of steel, raw power and brutality, too fast for the naked eye to detect.

"Who's going there?!" The guard shouted behind them, holding a lantern to lead the way for them. Seeing the murderous look on the two commanders' faces, they immediately fell to their knees.

The atmosphere is thick and tense, filled with the promise of brutal death.

"Commanders, we were not aware of this confrontation. We are very sorry!" They said with a low bow.

Wen Jinkai curled his lips in annoyance. He became depressed because of the distraction.

Yu Zhen glared at Wen Jinkai. "This is my final warning. Stay away from Li Xueyue."

"she is mine."

"She is not your property." Yu Zhen said with disgust, a hint of contempt in his eyes.

"She's not yours either."

"so?"

"You have no right to warn me to stay away from her." Wen Jinkai shook his head. "Besides, you can never keep her away from me. Whatever I want, I get."

Yu Zhen threw his head back and let out a thunderous laugh. "We'll look at this." He took up the scabbard and walked out into the moonlit darkness.

Wen Jinkai's face darkened, he closed his sword, and checked the jar for damage. None. He put it back in his pocket.

"Return to your post," he instructed the guards, then disappeared into the night, with a destination in mind.
