Commander Wen Jinkai was furious. His eyes were full of menace and gloom, and his fingers were clenched into pale fists. His eyes fell on the woman's hand on her waist.

As Wen Jinkai took a step closer, Hu Dengxiao drew his sword and Lu Tianbi prepared his dagger. They might not look like it, but they were trained to be deadly killers since birth.

Li Xueyue tried to distance herself from Yu Zhen, but he gently held her back, his hand squeezing her waist. He was big and warm, and he moved it behind her head, almost as if to tell her, "It's okay. You're safe."

“Does he think I’m afraid of Wen Jinkai…?” she asked herself curiously, and her suspicions were confirmed when he stroked the back of her head in a soothing manner.

Wen Jinkai's eyes darkened and moved from Xueyue to the mysterious man in front of him. He discussed the possibility that she would be injured if he forcibly pulled her out of the man's arms.

Wen Jinkai didn't understand why he was so angry when he saw them together. It almost reminded him of what happened on that stormy night two years ago.

"I have places to go, Commander," she emphasized his distant title. She raised her chin and stormed off with the servant.

He watched her approach the announcer and then wander into the throne room. He sighed in disapproval and decided to go after her, only to be whizzed past by a man.

Wen Jinkai, who was competitive by nature, immediately walked towards the throne. There was only one person who walked away victorious, while the other was at a loss.
