Commander Yu Zhen leaned against a pillar in the corridor, saying nothing, crossing his arms and closing his eyes, listening to his companions talking to each other.

"Why are you here again?" His good friend Hu Dengxiao asked lazily, turning a small blade in his hand. He turned to his commander, who remained quiet and indifferent - as if he was asleep.

"Idiot, have you really forgotten why?" The woman sighed and leaned her shoulder on Hu Dengxiao's arm. "I can't believe you have such a bad memory, but you are the chief strategist of our country."

Hu Dengxiao rolled his eyes and said, "You are just jealous that you lost to me in the last fight."

"It's just because I feel sorry for you." The woman Lu Tianbi retorted.

"If it helps, I lost on purpose so that you could win, but who would have thought that I still won?" When she roughly elbowed Hu Dengxiao in the side, he smiled down at her.

"You're making me mad," she scoffed.

"Whatever." Hu Dengxiao snorted. He turned his gaze to his commander again and sighed. The man deliberately ignored them.

Of course, he was. They bickered like little kids, not the awesome people they were.

"Who are we waiting for, then?" he asked.

"Why are you waiting here?" Lu Tianbi frowned and looked at the luxurious corridor. To her, Hanjian Palace was better than anything here, but that was because she was too loyal to her country.

"Indeed." Hu Dengxiao nodded slowly. "Why else would Yu Zhen pose as if he was ready to paint?"

He wrinkled his nose. "It irritates me, all he has to do is lean over here and the sun will hit him, even though I'm standing in the same spot as him."

Lu Tianbi sneered, "Just let our pampered prince be."

"Oh, what if he really fell asleep?" Hu Dengxiao chuckled, a mischievous smile on his face. He stretched out a finger and slowly approached his commander, who had the ability to immediately sense when something was coming towards him.

Seeing that Yu Zhen hadn't reacted yet, Hu Dengxiao's smile deepened. He poked the commander's shoulder with his finger and watched him slowly lean down, almost as if he was falling asleep.

At the last moment, Yu Zhen slapped the second-in-command on the head, and Hu Dengxiao was so scared that he immediately shouted, "Abuse!"

"Zhenzhen, how could you do this to me?" Hu Dengxiao pretended to sob and burst into tears.

Commander Yu Zhen sneered in disgust at this intimate and unbearably sweet nickname. "Who is Zhenzhen?"

"You fool!" Hu Dengxiao clasped his hands together and batted his eyelashes like an admirer of Yu Zhen. "Do you like it--oh!" He groaned when his commander hit him in the head again.

"If you hit me again, I might lose brain cells!"

"It's as if you already have it." Lu Tianbi rolled her eyes and sneered. When she saw someone approaching from a distance, she stood up. To be precise, it was a woman.

"Hehe~" Lu Tianbi laughed foolishly. "Let me guess, we are waiting for her? She is the candidate who spoke from Hanjian."

As soon as Commander Yu Zhen saw her, the tense expression on his face suddenly eased a little. When he saw her brave steps, a smile slowly appeared on his face. The way she walked was like she owned the place. It was interesting to see that someone as confident as her could be easily confused by suggestive words.

"Oh~" Hu Dengxiao covered his eyes with his hands and looked at the woman.

"Aren't we here just to take a look at this brave lady who offended our beloved commander?" Seeing Yu Zhen's face darken, he chuckled to himself.

"She didn't offend me."

"Yes, your self-esteem has been fatally wounded." Hu Dengxiao laughed sarcastically. "I heard the emperor tell the candidates that they have the possibility of marrying the most outstanding 'Han Jianshuai', no matter who he is." He played dumb and shrugged after hearing the last sentence.

"She also rejected the position of candidate. Isn't it interesting?" Hu Dengxiao nudged Yu Zhen with his elbow.

"You talk too much. Someone should sew your mouth shut when you sleep." Commander Yu Zhen said softly.

"Is this a threat? Tiantian, our commander is threatening us! We should report this to our superiors." Hu Dengxiao wailed, shaking his shoulders as Lu Tianbi rolled his eyes.

"If you don't stop shaking your shoulders like a child, I'm going to carry out this threat for him."

Immediately, he paused and pouted. "Grunge."

"What?" she hissed as he batted his lashes at her.

"I said you were beautiful."

She scoffed at his words and turned away to hide the light blush that was spreading across her face. He was one of the few men in the world who would compliment her. Few men liked a woman who could outdo them in every "manly" sport.

Li Xueyue opened her mouth in surprise when she saw Commander Yu Zhen surrounded by his companions. She didn't expect to meet him here, but then again, he should be meeting the emperor in the throne room. Is their meeting over?

"Hello, Princess." Commander Yu Zhen was too lazy to stand up. He continued to lean against the pillar, one leg crossed over the other. He lazily observed her face, their eyes meeting.

She pursed her lips, their first encounter vividly replaying in her mind.

He knew she was probably thinking back to their past encounter. He could tell by the way her cheeks had turned the lightest shade of pink, almost unnoticeable. Her skin was as white as jade plucked from the top of a snowy mountain.

"Have we met before?" She tilted her pretty little head and pretended not to know.

Commander Yu Zhen's playful smile deepened. He stared at her sharply, as if asking her, "Do you want me to specify where our first impression took place?"

She narrowed her eyes, almost saying, "Don't you dare."

"Oh, but I do," he winked.

As she tried to brush past him, he spoke up, "I'm sure we did, Princess. Remember? In-"

"Oh, yes, I remember now." Li Xueyue interrupted him with a frown. "In the garden."

"The garden?" Hu Dengxiao turned to his commander and repeated in confusion. "You were in the garden?"

Commander Yu Zhen tilted his head, "Yeah, is that so?"

Li Xueyue rolled her eyes at him and insisted, "Yes, you are. Do you remember?"

The commander smiled slightly when he heard her threatening tone. It had been a while since anyone had used such a voice on him. He was an uncontrollable cold sword. With a flick of his wrist, his head rolled over easily. Who dared to threaten him?

"Well, do I remember?" Yu Zhen put his finger on his chin and thought. "I can swear that I misunderstood you..."

"You mistook me for a simple lady." Li Xueyue looked at her companion's puzzled eyes and laughed nervously.

"Yes, I remember now." Commander Yu Zhen showed a friendly smile, his eyes curved into crescents. "We are in my—"

She threw herself on him and covered his mouth with her hand. Both of them stared with wide eyes, in disbelief. She thought they would fall, but his tense body held them in place. Specifically, his big hands had already grasped her waist, holding her steadily, preventing her from falling backwards.

His eyes twinkled with mischief, while hers were wide.

She said excitedly, "We met in the garden. Remember?"

Yu Zhen discovered how lovely her eyes were. Under the fierce sunlight, the fire in her eyes burned brighter and stronger. It was also the lovely color of the fertile earth, rich and deep, but full of vitality.

Her eyes seemed to grow wider and her heart more panicked. She hadn't realized yet how intimate their position was. She also hadn't realized how compromising this was for her. She leaned against him, her lower body resting on him for support.

Li Xueyue's smile deepened and she nodded slowly. She didn't believe he would keep his mouth shut about their experience, but what could she do?

She jumped when she felt something soft peck her hand. He kissed her. On it. Still, he kissed her. She pulled her hand away, but he grasped her wrist, his long fingers gently stroking the back of her hand.

"Are all women in Wuyi so bold?" he teased her, and she was surprised when he gently kissed her fingertips. He completely confused her.

"Are all Han men so shameless?" she retorted with narrowed eyes.

Slowly, a charming smile appeared on his face, revealing a mouthful of white teeth. "Only when a woman who is equally shameless appears." He looked down, and only then did she realize how dangerous their position was.

But before the two could react, a surprisingly stiff voice roared, "What's going on?"

Commander Wen Jinkai witnessed it all.
