Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 64 Love you
"Why do you look so scared?" Wen Jinkai asked her worriedly. Various emotions flashed across her face, so fast that he couldn't detect them. Xueyue stared at her hands, her eyes trembling. He saw that the light in her eyes was dim like stars covered by clouds.
“Look at me,” he said tenderly, gently lifting her chin. He didn’t know he could be so gentle until he met her. He had never accommodated anyone. Yet, he sat in front of her, caring for a woman who didn’t want anything to do with him.
"what happened?"
"Please stop," she whispered, shaking her head. She tried to push his hand away, but he held her chin firmly.
"Stop what?"
"Whatever you want." Xueyue opened her eyes wide and looked deep.
Wen Jinkai was mesmerized by her eyes, which captured the brilliance of nature and the colors of ancient trees, and were wise and profound.
He vaguely remembered that her eyes were golden like honeycombs in the sun, but now, they were the darkest brown, alluring and mysterious, full of depths that he could not understand. Why were there so many anxieties and uneasiness in their hearts? What overwhelmed her? Who hurt her?
"I just want to talk to you."
"Don't. Don't talk to me. Don't look in my direction. Don't touch me. Don't act like you know me. I want you to pretend we're strangers to each other who've never met."
"Why?" He lowered her chin angrily.
His fingers clenched into fists, and his chin trembled with anger. He couldn't understand why she rejected him with all her heart. He didn't seem like a man who cared about women, but the first time he did so, she rejected him rudely.
"If you can't love me, then don't pursue me. I don't need unnecessary interference in my life. I don't care about your wealth, fame or titles. I am not a conqueror who must be shown to your peers. I don't want to be one of the many flowers in your garden. I want to be the only wife of the head of the family, not one of dozens of women in the harem."
Wen Jinkai blinked after hearing what she said.
"To love you means to hate myself," she whispered. "Unlike you, I'm not afraid of falling in love. I'm afraid of being the only one who falls in love."
"Is this what you wanted, fawn?" He stood up, towering over her petite frame. He was an intimidating man, cold and ruthless.
She would never escape his clutches. All she could do was express her hostility towards him and pray that he would leave on his own. This kind of person was already on the verge of danger. Someone could take her away against her will and imprison her.
"Unconditional love? Loyal only to you?"
"No." Xueyue shook her head. "I want an untouchable love. A love that cannot be destroyed by lies, rumors and outside influences. A love that is deeply rooted in the heart, based on trust, a love that is protected and strengthened by laughter. "Through all hardships."
"Commander, does my selfish wish scare you? Does it make you waver? Does it make you afraid? If you have any doubts or hesitations, even the slightest bit, then please walk out of my life and never come back." \"
She frowned. "Please set your sights on another woman who will be glad to have you. She will cherish the air you breathe, admire the floors you walk on, and smile with happiness in front of your other wives."
Wen Jinkai was silent for the longest time. He did nothing but stared at her with the same blank expression. She couldn’t break through his defense. No one could. His eyes were more guarded than her heart.
Li Xueyue doubted whether he had a heart at all. He was so indifferent to her, despite his possessiveness towards her. She didn’t want such a man. He would destroy her with a smile and never look back. He could recover easily, but she could never.
"I'm sorry," he said at last. Just two simple words, and she lost all hope in him.
Instantly, she became indifferent. She threw off the blanket and stood up. If he didn't take her home, she would find a way to go back by herself. She couldn't imagine appearing in front of him a second time and breathing the same air with him.
She was ready to walk out of this room and never look back on their brief encounter again. She was ready to never see him again, and if they ever did, she would pretend not to know him. It was the best thing she could do to protect herself from him.
"Have a nice day, Commander." She brushed past him, but he suddenly grabbed her wrist. Before she could resist, he pulled her towards him roughly. His arms were like an iron cage, pressing her tightly against him.
"I'm sorry," he said again, this time with a dark edge to his voice. She froze, waiting for him to continue. "Your words can't stop me at all. I'm sorry, Li Xueyue, your plan to push me away has failed. Whether you are willing to let me into your heart or not, I will make you mine. "No matter what."
Xueyue heard something from him that she couldn't understand. She could hear it, the unmistakable sound of a racing heartbeat. The only problem was, it wasn't hers that was pounding uncontrollably. It was his. Powerful, intense, erratic, he had unknowingly pressed her ear to his heart. His embrace was undeniably warm, comforting, and everything she'd asked for, but his words were heartbreaking and misleading.
"I'm sorry," he repeated in a sympathetic tone. She felt his large hand gently caress the back of her neck as a strong arm held her tight.
"I am not capable of love," he whispered to her, "but I can promise you, Li Xueyue, that I will take care of you until eternity. You will no longer have any desires, you will be pampered and coddled. Supreme adoration. Every maid, butler, servant, and soldier under my command will yield to your wishes.
He took a deep breath and smelled a faint scent of jasmine, which intoxicated him. "Love is a stupid thing. It blinds us to reality. What can I do with it? Some people are willing to die for it. Some people are willing to sacrifice everything to achieve it. I would be much happier without it."
"Then you'll be much happier without me," Li Xueyue said, and then pushed him away. When she raised her chin in the air provocatively, he immediately let her go.
His eyes darkened. "I think it's time to take you home."
"We'd appreciate it," she said curtly, rushing out of his room even though she had no idea where she was going.
The silence on the carriage to the tournament was deafening. Neither of them looked at each other during the entire ride. Even with all the windows open, it was tense and suffocating inside. The only sounds in the air were the clatter of horses' hooves and the pitiful calm of two longing hearts.
