Li Xueyue began to doubt whether she should provoke him. It took her a lot of effort last time, so she decided to give up.

"Have you finished your work?" she asked, knowing that he must have been very busy before coming here.

Little Orange obviously didn't care. He crawled down from his coma, walked to Yu Zhen, sat down obediently, and rubbed Yu Zhen's legs with his head.

Little Orange has only one goal, which is to get snacks such as animal bones.

"Not yet, but it doesn't matter." Yu Zhen comforted her.

His work had been brought forward for several weeks. He had plenty of time to rest, but doing nothing made him uncomfortable.

His body was always craving something to do. Sitting around in the gazebo and enjoying the finer things in life was not something he enjoyed doing.

"Are you sure?" she asked.

Li Xueyue was worried that Xiaojuzi would disturb her, so Yu Zhen put his hand behind her head and stroked it.

"You worry too much." He smoothed the wrinkles between her brows. "If there was anything that was bothering me, I would tell you."

Li Xueyue nodded helplessly, knowing that he was right.

"But you need to know something."

"What's wrong?" she asked.

Li Xueyue found that he seemed to be upset about something, his brows were furrowed, and a hint of impatience flashed in his eyes.

"Are you good at geography?" he began.

Li Xueyue nodded. She had read many geography books in the Li Mansion, which were very useful. She also knew which countries were around the Han River.

"Not bad if I do say so myself. Why do you ask?"

Li Xueyue wondered if something had happened. Judging from his irritable eyes, the matter must be serious. His face was colder than usual.

Yu Zhen nodded, "There is a neighboring country east of the Han River, and we have always maintained neutrality with them."

Li Xueyue nodded again. If she remembered correctly, it should be the Nanhui Kingdom. The territory of this country is smaller than that of Hanjian, but the geographical environment is very good. It is surrounded by mountains and is difficult to ambush.

"What are they going to do?" she asked. Is there something wrong in Nanhui?

Yu Zhen stared at the ground. “Nanhui wants to strengthen its relationship with Han Jian.”

Li Xueyue also believes that a more friendly relationship between the two countries will benefit both sides.

Hanjian and Nanhui are adjacent to each other, and fighting between them would be too contradictory. Moreover, if they form an alliance, they can become each other's fastest reinforcements.

"This plan sounds good, but you seem a little unhappy. What's wrong?" Li Xueyue asked.

“Nanhui sent their favorite prince and princess to deliver gifts, and several of my brothers and sisters are doing the same thing.”

Li Xueyue raised her eyebrows. Doesn't that mean that the relationship between the two countries is already very good? She thought that the two countries must have started discussing the alliance long before she came to Hanjiang.

"I suppose the Emperor will greet them," she said.

Yu Zhen smiled bitterly, "If it was just him, I wouldn't care."

"What's the problem?"

Yu Zhen narrowed his eyes. He hated to let her bear some kind of burden.

“We will be there too.”

Li Xueyue blinked. She felt that there was no harm in this. "Oh, that's good. It's just receiving a gift."

Yu Zhen shook his head: "It would be nice if it were just that, but it's not the case."

"I do not understand…?"

"There's a reason why Nanhui sent their favorite daughter and only one son."

Li Xueyue's mouth opened slightly, she completely understood what he meant, Nanhui was not only sending jewelry and silk, but also the royal family, especially the princess.

Nanhui seemed to hope that their princess would attract the attention of the royal family, or perhaps just the opposite.

Li Xueyue suddenly became a little worried about her future daughters. Will they suffer the same fate?

"But Han Jian does not support the harem, and the emperor doesn't seem to want to do anything unnecessary." Li Xueyue did not need to question Yu Zhen's opinion on this.

He had promised her that he would not build a harem, and she believed that he would not go back on his word. After all, Yu Zhen was a man of his word.

"The Queen doesn't think so."

Li Xueyue pursed her lips. She thought the Queen was relieved by now. What else did the Queen want to see?

"But don't worry."

Yuzhen grabbed her hands, held them tightly, and comforted her: "You won't see them. As soon as they enter the palace, I will let them go."

"Do not."

Yu Zhen raised his eyebrows. He thought this was what she wanted. What happened? Her reaction was different from what he imagined.

"The queen and the court had long anticipated our reaction," Li Xueyue said. "This is another test."

Yu Zhen's face turned gloomy. He knew this was the truth, but he didn't want her to know that she was the kind of person who got something for nothing. He was worried about her physical and mental state.

Li Xueyue was smart, but not naturally so, and Yu Zhen knew she would put herself under great pressure to find a perfect answer.

He comforted her: "I will take care of my mother's affairs, you don't have to worry."

"I don't want to rely on you alone," she whispered. "I can handle my own battles."

"I did not mean that."

“Have some faith in me.”

Yuzhen is upset at her refusal. He offers her a shortcut, but she refuses to take it. Why not?

"Everyone thinks I'm weak," she whispered so only he could hear. "We don't need another reason for them to find fault with me."

"Who are the fools who would believe that?" he asked in a calm voice.

When Li Xueyue heard him say this, her whole body trembled, and silent anger came out. The air around her suddenly became cold.

Even the servants were scared and backed away. Everyone knew the prince's temper. Once he got angry, he couldn't turn back. Nothing could calm him down except a river of blood.

"I won't tell you."

"Why not?" he asked, his lips curled in a growl.

"You'll kill them."

"I won't."

Li Xueyue raised her head suddenly, her heart full of hope, "Really?"

"Yes."

She smiled, but it disappeared after a second.

"I'm going to cut out their tongues."

"Yuzhen!" she said angrily, knowing it was the truth. If he could get them, anything was possible.

He smiled down at her, his hand on the side of her face. "You won't be hurt."

"That's not what I'm worried about." Li Xueyue said anxiously. She placed her palm on the hand that was touching her.

"What if people call you a tyrant? What if there's a riot and people want you killed? I'm dreading the day you get hurt," she whispered. Her voice cracked at the end because she was filled with fear.

Li Xueyue couldn't imagine a world without him, how bleak and depressing that would be... She could already imagine how lonely it would be, her heart would turn to dust and drift away with the wind, just like the ashes of their love.

"I don't want to lose you," she confessed.

"You will not."

Li Xueyue glanced at the ground. She knew that he was a powerful warrior. His exploits on the battlefield were not a fable used to scare little children. It was real. He was a fierce soldier, a bloodthirsty commander.

But what if all the sins he committed came back to haunt him? What if karma was paying him back? If he took the wrong path, a lot of things could go wrong.

He held Li Xueyue's face in his hands. Li Xueyue shuddered all over. He lifted her head up and forced her to look at him.

She felt her heart being pinched by him. There was tenderness in his eyes. But he looked depressed, as if everything was not going well. Why did he look so melancholy?

“Why do you worry about others more than yourself?”

Is this why he is unhappy? Li Xueyue doesn't like to see him become a burden because of her. "Because you are more important than me."

Yu Zhen's frown deepened, and he shook his head firmly, "We must change your character."

"fine."

"It is not."

Li Xueyue didn't want to argue with him. There were enough such things. "I just like to think too much, Yu Zhen."

"You're putting too much pressure on yourself."

Li Xueyue smiled bitterly, "This is a bad habit of mine."

"Let me help you change it."

Her eyes widened in surprise. "No, you are already busy with work, and I don't want you to be troubled by my problems."

Yu Zhen sneered. Is this how he viewed their relationship? "Little hamster, I'm not weak. I can handle anything that happens to me."

"But Yuzhen——"

He pushed at her cheek until her lips pursed like a fish. She looked up at him, eyes wide and shocked.

Yu Zhen looked at her distorted face and chuckled, "Like I said, Yangguang, it's okay."

She glared at him, clearly disagreeing. He smiled back.

"We'll get through this together, Sunshine."

He saw reluctance in her eyes, but she nodded her assent nonetheless.
