Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 266 I Never Wanted Him
Li Xueyue wanted to take a nap but gave up because it would further disrupt her sleep schedule. Lazily flipping through the books in her room, she decided to practice archery and forget about everything for a while. When she was in this zone, nothing mattered except the target and the arrow.
She bent down and pulled the weeds. She rubbed them between her palms, drying the remaining moisture.
She held the grass high above her and then let it go, watching which way it fell to determine the wind direction.
Li Xueyue prepared her arrows and bow. Seconds passed, and time slowly turned into minutes and hours. Before long, the high sun drooped low, covering the sky with a fiery red cloak. Days passed, and the blue of the sky was replaced by the red glow of dawn.
"Are you done showing off?"
The sudden sound startled Li Xueyue. She was so focused on archery that she didn't notice someone entering the training ground.
She wiped the sweat from her forehead and looked up to find that the sun had already set. The afternoon passed too quickly.
"No one asked you to look." Li Xueyue put down her hand and said. There is no doubt that she will be sore all over tomorrow.
There was a familiar 'whirling' sound in the air. She turned her head to the right, narrowly missing the arrow that had pierced a lock of her hair.
Li Xueyue turned around and raised her eyebrows. "I should have let the arrow graze my ear so that I could blame you."
Li Minghua narrowed her eyes in annoyance. How could she dodge the arrow without getting hurt? "I was aiming at the target behind you."
Li Xueyue pursed her lips and chose not to respond. She didn't have time for someone like Minghua.
She stood up and walked towards the equipment rack. She handed the bow and quiver to the servant, who hung it up for her.
Li Xueyue sighed lightly and tied her long ponytail into a bun. She knew very well that she had let down her guard in front of Minghua. She didn't care. If the girl wanted to attack her, then attack. It will be used as evidence against her.
Li Xueyue tied her new bun with a rope and started walking towards the house. When she almost reached the steps leading to the corridor, Li Minghua blocked her way.
"What do you want?" Li Xueyue asked impatiently.
In the distance, her eyes fell on Jingxia, who looked unhappy to see the young ladies together. The head maid disappeared into the corridor in less than a second, most likely to report to the Duchess.
"I want you to get out of my house. You are not welcome here. Your time to replace me is over. Stop squeezing money from my family." Li Minghua said truthfully.
Li Minghua crossed his arms and looked down at her.
"What if I don't do this?" Li Xueyue thought.
Li Minghua took a threatening step closer. Her hair swayed in the relentless breeze that swept across the fields. Her eyes, gleaming with hatred and anger, were rough and dark, like the bark of a tree.
"I'm going to reveal your secret. You killed someone, so you're a murderer." Li Minghua said angrily. Seeing Xueyue's tense body, she raised a satisfied smile.
"It's strange that you would say that." Li Xueyue whispered. "When you killed the queen."
"You have no proof that I killed her—"
"How do you get a hydrangea hairpin?" Li Xueyue fired back.
"This has nothing to do with you-"
"Then you admit it." Li Xueyue retorted. "The funny thing is, I remember when Jin Kai took it from the Li family. This makes me wonder if you are both a thief and a murderer."
"Bai Xueyue, you don't understand anything. Just be careful. Who knows? Maybe one day when you wake up, your tongue will be gone." Li Minghua said angrily.
Li Minghua's face turned into a deep sorrow. She hated Bai Xueyue. What gave Bai Xueyue such a bold right? She was nothing more than a neglected viscount's daughter.
Li Xueyue's lips curled up into a gentle smile. A hint of amusement flashed in her eyes. "I just started to insult. Don't be so angry."
"you-"
"Contrary to what you believe, Minghua, I don't want to replace you. There's nothing in you that I want to be," Li Xueyue replied. "You should get over yourself."
"This is my house, my family, my life. You're trampling on it like you have a place here to begin with. You're just a girl they picked up off the street."
Li Xueyue shook her head gently, as if she were a mother disappointed with her stubborn child. If Minghua knew, these insults would not work on her. No one hated Li Xueyue more than herself.
"I don't like making enemies," Li Xueyue said. "Especially not with you, someone the twins and our parents cherish."
Li Minghua gnashed her teeth. She dug her nails deep into her palms. She hated Bai Xueyue's calmness, as if nothing in the world could upset her. She wanted to see Bai Xueyue explode with anger. She wanted to see her pretty little face covered in tears, kneeling down and begging.
"You took everything from me," Li Minghua argued. "You seduced the only man who truly loved me. You stole my brother, and now Chenyang hates me. He sided with you instead of me. You convinced my parents to like you more than me."
Li Xueyue's lips parted. Is this how she felt? "You can have Wen Jinkai. I never wanted him in the first place. The twins don't belong to you, and neither do our parents. You should learn to share."
"How dare you teach me a lesson? Who do you think you are?" Li Minghua hissed. "Everything you have was given to you by my family. You should respect me."
Li Xueyue shook her head slowly. Li Minghua's logic she couldn't understand. What's wrong with coexistence? She thought it was the behavior of a spoiled child. They thought everything in this world belonged to them. No request was too big, no wish was too greedy.
Even after two years in the palace, Li Minghua still had not learned to humble herself.
"Your behavior has already ruined you once, don't let it hurt you again." Li Xueyue said.
Li Minghua was caught off guard by her words. She didn't expect that a useless girl would make such an arrogant suggestion.
Li Xueyue took this opportunity to say goodbye. She despised Li Minghua, but she would never stoop to her level. She nodded in greeting and then walked past her sideways.
It didn't matter that Li Minghua didn't like her. In any case, the feeling was mutual.
