Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 249 Jumping out the window
Prince Li Chenyang had an uneasy premonition of what was about to happen. He had foreseen the inevitable outcome from that scream. If it really belonged to the Queen, it could only mean one thing…
"We shouldn't crowd the Queen's chambers and rush in all at once," Lord Li Chenyang said. "It would be disrespectful and disturb the Queen."
Duchess Wang Qixing quickly understood the plan. If anything went wrong in the Queen's bedroom, Prince Li Chenyang would be the first to know about it.
"I agree." Duchess Wang Qixing said. "It's so rude for so many men to trample on the queen's bedroom..."
Hearing what the Li family said, the ministers hesitated. They were undoubtedly right.
"I am a woman, so I will go in first. This will protect the queen's reputation and privacy. If anything goes wrong, I will shout loudly to alert everyone." Princess Wang Qixing said. Her firm tone and serious expression made it impossible for them to refuse this suggestion.
King Li Chenyang nodded slowly. "Please be careful," he replied when the ministers reached the door.
Just as Duchess Wang Qixing knocked on the door, Marquis Ning and the Duke looked at each other.
"Queen, is everything alright in there?"
no respond.
Duchess Wang Qixing knew it was time to face reality. She gently opened the door a little and slipped in. She closed the door behind her.
Duchess Wang Chil-sing was greeted by the hand-carved folding wooden panels that formed a partition in the room. She hesitantly peeled it back and assessed the situation. But in her wildest dreams, she could never have predicted the outcome before her eyes.
"X-Xue Yue?" She whispered, noticing her daughter lying unconscious on the floor. But what was even more surprising was the pool of blood a few feet away.
To the shock of Duchess Wang Qixing, she saw the queen's limp body. A shining hairpin had pierced the queen directly. To be precise, it was a colorful hydrangea hairpin that pierced the queen's heart.
Duchess Wang Qixing's face turned pale. Could it be that... Li Xueyue killed the queen? She staggered back a step, unable to accept the fact that Xueyue had the ability to kill.
Duchess Wang Qixing knew she had to act quickly. She rushed to Li Xueyue's motionless body on the ground and hurriedly shook her awake. "Dear, there's no time!" She hissed, shaking her daughter's body violently.
"Um...Mom?" Li Xueyue muttered and slowly opened her eyes.
Li Xueyue touched her forehead. Her head throbbed with pain. "Where am I?" she whispered, confused and bewildered.
"Hurry up, jump out of the window!" Duchess Wang Qixing pointed at the window.
"W-what?"
"Do as I say." Duchess Wang Qixing whispered, forcing Xueyue to stand up. "You can ask later! Now, I need you to run as far as you can, and walk home if necessary. No matter what, don't let anyone see you!"
Li Xueyue had a lot to say and ask, but she knew now was not the time. She stood up immediately, but her body began to sway. Her world was still blurry and she felt dizzy. Despite this, she still walked forward with difficulty, toward the window.
Duchess Wang Qixing watched in horror as her daughter climbed out of the window. In less than a second, Li Xueyue disappeared.
Now, the only thing left in the room was the Duchess, the Queen's body. Duchess Wang Qixing approached the limp body and wrinkled her nose at the scent. With trembling hands, she reached for the hydrangea hairpin. She hadn't seen this beautiful accessory for a long time.
Duchess Wang Qixing's thoughts were in a mess, but she couldn't clear her mind. When she pulled out the hairpin, she jumped up and more blood gushed out.
Duchess Wang Qixing couldn't imagine seeing so much blood. However, she had more pressing issues at hand. She quickly wrapped the hairpin, which was still dripping with blood, with a handkerchief. She reluctantly stuffed the hairpin into her pocket for safekeeping.
If this hydrangea hairpin were known to the right person, it might be used to frame the Li family.
"Nothing..." she said to herself.
The next step in the plan must be executed.
Duchess Wang Qixing took a deep breath, closed her eyes tightly, and let out the loudest scream she could.
Without warning, the doors flew open and the ministers poured in.
Baron Han was the first to speak: "Princess, something seems to be wrong—" His voice gradually faded away. It was as if the rug was pulled out from under him.
No one expected the horrible event that was happening before their eyes. Duchess Wang Qixing fell to her knees, trembling all over, obviously shocked by the scene before her.
"The Fold took a long time to open, but when I finally got it to work..." Her voice trailed off, unable to finish the conversation, and then she broke down in tears. She sobbed and covered her face with her hands.
King Li Chenyang was the first to react. He approached his wife and helped her to her feet. "It's going to be okay, dear..." He comforted her while patting her back.
"Who could do such a thing?!" Baron Han was furious. The disturbing scene before him made the wrinkles on his face deepen. He couldn't bear to watch it anymore. He turned his face away from the lifeless corpse and covered his nose to smell the smell of death.
"Duchess!" Baron Han shouted, pointing his finger in her direction. "You are alone here. Did you see anyone escape from the window? Maybe the murderer is still in this palace."
King Li Chenyang was worried. His usually gentle smile twisted into a disapproving frown. He hugged his wife tightly with his arms and glared in the direction of the baron with dissatisfaction.
"You ask such a bold question to my traumatized wife at a time like this?" He exploded. "Baron Han, are you really that rude?"
"I'm just asking the most important question here. We don't have time for women to cry!" Baron Han exclaimed. "Your wife must have seen something, otherwise why would she scream--"
"Women are fragile animals. Of course they will scream when they see a corpse." King Li Chenyang interrupted.
Baron Han opened his mouth to refute, but froze. Facing the Prime Minister's threatening gaze, he broke out in a cold sweat. He had never felt such a terrifying aura from this calm man. In front of him was a vicious husband who would do anything to protect his wife.
Baron Han swallowed his saliva. He knew this was a losing battle. Most people here would support King Li Chenyang, especially when he acted like a husband.
"I just wanted to—"
"We don't have time." Ning Hou said. "This crime must be reported to the people immediately! Whoever does this to her will pay the price of his head and the extermination of seven generations of his family."
"I agree." King Li Chenyang said confidently. "We need to get out of here as soon as possible. I'm sure the chaos has subsided now. We must find the emperor as soon as possible."
King Li Chenyang must act as if he is not part of this greater plan, even though Ning Hou knows that he is. If Ning Hou knew what was for his own good, he would definitely keep his mouth shut.
Lord Li Chenyang knew that the best disguise was to pretend that the emperor was still alive. If everything went according to plan, the entire royal family should be dead at dawn.
