Li Minghua's expression changed to one of dissatisfaction. Her eyes flashed with anger. A fire burned inside her, brighter and louder than the fire that enveloped the house at that time.

Li Minghua just waited for her to continue, knowing that the queen was a woman who loved monologues.

"My Jinkai loves me more than anyone in the world," said Queen Huiyun. "The people assigned to me are the best of men. As we speak now, their weapons are undoubtedly pointed at you in the distance."

"That's a pity. They will never touch me again." Li Minghua said thoughtfully.

"You should be dead now. Your protection has been removed. When you approach me with a weapon, someone will come out from the shadows in the corridor or outside the window, and you will fall to the ground dead."

Li Xueyue swallowed her saliva. This was a conversation she shouldn’t have eavesdropped on. She didn’t expect so many things to happen tonight. It was really too much for her to bear. As soon as Duchess Wang Qixing turned around, she was hugged roughly by King Li Chenyang. The only sound she could hear was his low breathing and unstable heartbeat.

"You're safe." King Li Chenyang whispered, he took a step back, grabbed her and checked her for signs of injury.

"Hah, dear?" Duchess Wang Qixing muttered.

King Li Chenyang found that his wife was still in a daze. Her eyes were on him, but her heart was not. When he saw the tears in her eyes, he knew that she was hallucinating again. He could do nothing but hug her again.

"It's just another illusion, dear," he whispered.

"No, no, not this time." Duchess Wang Qixing stammered. "I know it's not like this!"

“Hush.” King Li Chenyang held her frail frame tightly in his arms, knowing that the heartbreak was too much to bear. He thought she had gotten over Li Minghua’s death. What could have triggered it today?

"Let's go, we'll take you to a safe place first so that I can continue looking for Xueyue." King Li Chenyang said.

Lord Li Chenyang barely managed to evade the imperial guards before catching up with his wife and children. Fortunately, he was able to remember the layout of the palace grounds. The corridors were built like a maze, trapping suspicious people inside.
