Chapter 24 Mirror of Erised
This is an empty room. The spider webs in the corners are covered with dust and there is a faint smell of damp and mold.
It seems that no one has been here for a long time.
The two people under the invisibility cloak looked at each other. After ending the tense journey of avoidance, they became vigilant and faced each other who appeared in the restricted book area in the middle of the night.
Alicia calmed her breathing and immediately let go of Potter's wrist when she realized that she was still holding it. She didn't give Potter time to speak and asked, "Why are you here?"
Harry was stunned by the sudden question. Perhaps because of nervousness, his cheeks began to turn slightly red: "Night... I was traveling at night, and I came to see this when I passed by..."
The girl raised her eyebrows but did not expose his poor lie. Harry seemed to have come to his senses and realized that his answer was inappropriate. He stared at the person in front of him and asked without showing any weakness, "What about you? Why are you here?"
"You know that Quirrell gives me detention every week. Today he suddenly ordered me to go to the restricted area to find a book about the vampire war. Professor Snape probably followed me because he was worried about me. As for Quirrell, he probably wanted to find fault with me." Alicia pulled off the invisibility cloak and stuffed it into the boy's arms, and quickly came up with an impeccable answer.
Harry looked a little confused. Was Snape partial to Slytherin to this extent? Why would he worry about his students to such an extent?
Thinking so, he also asked this question.
Alicia's face turned several degrees colder after hearing the boy address him as godfather. Then she put on her signature fake smile and said word by word: "Yes, Professor Snape. Poor Potter, whose brain was eaten by the ghost things that came out of the dark magic books. If you have not lost your memory, you should remember that Severus Snape is my godfather."
Even though Harry had become somewhat immune to Snape's sarcasm, he couldn't help feeling a little embarrassed and ashamed at this moment.
He said nothing more and looked around to hide his embarrassment. Suddenly, a huge mirror caught his attention.
He came to the mirror curiously, wondering what kind of items would be placed in such an old house.
His own appearance gradually appeared in the mirror, and before the boy could feel disappointed, the scene inside was extremely shocking.
His parents appeared on his left and right. They put their hands on his shoulders and smiled at him with loving eyes.
Harry couldn't help but put his hand on the mirror, trying to feel the body temperature of the person in the mirror, but what he felt back was ice-cold.
"Dad, mom..."
Alicia, who was not far away, noticed something strange. She quickly drew out her wand and was ready to evacuate at any time - that mirror looked very strange, and Potter actually mistook it for his parents!
Harry was immersed in joy and couldn't extricate himself. He seemed to think that this mirror was a bridge for his parents to communicate with him. He turned around excitedly and waved to the girl, "Alicia! Come and see, I, I see my parents! They are here!"
After thinking about it for a while, the girl came to the conclusion that this was probably a magical item that could make people addicted to illusions.
She didn't care about being called by her Christian name and walked to the mirror with her wand in hand.
It was a large mirror with words carved into the golden frame that seemed to be complete gibberish as they did not appear to be from any language she knew.
Harry's smile looked incredibly happy, and he even chose to share his happiness with a Slytherin.
"Look, right here. You can see them if you stand here. Those are my parents!" The boy looked at Alicia expectantly, trying to hear her affirmative answer.
However, he was destined to be disappointed.
Alicia looked behind the mirror with a serious expression.
She also saw her family, her father and mother standing behind her and Draco respectively, and the person on her left was her godfather.
However, the girl in the mirror is very different from her current image.
“She” was wearing a black skirt and had a cold look in her eyes. A large group of people, familiar or unfamiliar, were crawling at “her” feet with fear on their faces.
Alicia raised her chin slightly and took a deep breath, as if she was enjoying the kneeling of those people through the mirror.
After a while, she turned her head and said with a smile on her face: "The picture I saw was that I became the Minister of Magic. Perhaps this is a mirror that allows people to see the future."
This probably reflects the scene that people desire most, but of course she would not tell Potter so.
Harry's smile froze on his face, and then slowly disappeared. He looked extremely depressed, and murmured softly: "It won't be the future, they are no longer here..."
After hearing this, Alicia also stopped smiling and looked at the boy with an extremely complicated look.
Did he know that his greatest enemy in life was lurking in Hogwarts?
Although Potter usually didn't get along well with her, he was still better than the Dark Lord who tortured her in new ways every day.
Although Potter was stupid and liked to frame people, he had never done anything to hurt her.
When he was a child, Draco always asked his mother to tell him stories about the savior. Influenced by them, she also began to look forward to the legendary boy who survived a catastrophe.
Although Draco wanted to be friends with Potter because of his father's order, it was indeed the thing he was most looking forward to before coming to Hogwarts.
However, the moment Potter was sorted into Gryffindor, and when conflicts with Weasley became frequent, his childhood admiration could no longer support him to stand in front of the savior and say something that was not so harsh.
At this moment, the girl suddenly felt that the famous savior was just an ordinary person who wanted to be reunited with his parents the most in his heart.
Alicia felt inexplicably heavy. She opened her mouth and spoke in a completely different tone from her usual sharp words to him, and also completely different from her flawless words when dealing with those Slytherins: "They are worried about you, too."
"In our wizarding world, when a person dies, they are faced with a choice: to become a ghost, or to accept death calmly and move forward to another place - people call it Avalon."
It was the first time Harry heard such a statement. He stared at the girl blankly and asked his own question: "Choice?"
"That's right. They bravely chose to go to Avalon, but they still... love you and accompany you, but they can't be with you all the time." Alicia paused, she was very surprised at what she was about to say.
Merlin, she never thought that there would be a day when she would take the initiative to comfort Potter.
Harry listened carefully and accepted this statement. He looked at his parents in the mirror, then looked at the girl who looked uncomfortable, and smiled sincerely again: "I have never heard of this... Alicia, thank you for telling me this and thank you for comforting me."
This was the most peaceful atmosphere between Alicia and Harry in the past few months of school.
Those school disputes and personal frictions were all hidden in the darkness.
The moon quietly peeked out from behind the clouds, and the soft and cold moonlight gradually spread into the dim room. Two people with silver-green scarves and red and yellow scarves stood facing each other in front of a spotless mirror.
In countless dark nights in the future, Harry would always think of this scene. The girl's awkward but sincere concern and the encouragement from other teachers and friends together gave him the strength to face difficulties time and time again.
The future Alicia will never forget that on the night when she completed the homework assigned by "Qiluo", she saw the tragic result of the First Wizarding War - a child who lost his parents at the age of one.
