American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker
#90 - Storm is coming
"Notify Luke. This is, after all, trouble related to him. If he doesn't want to be cornered by a bunch of vampires in Hebron, he'd better pitch in." Although Nick's expression was calm, he was taking this desperate counterattack by the vampires very seriously. In fact, in Nick's mind, the trouble caused by this vampire incident was no less than the alien "visitation" event.
He had already arranged for people to keep a close watch on the vampire strongholds in New York City, after all, the city had a significant number of vampires. It could even be said to be one of the major strongholds of the vampire clan. If a war broke out, Nick hoped to clear out the vampires within the city first. Without this group of vampires inside the city, the external vampires wouldn't be able to make much of a splash as long as the authorities could prevent them from entering the core urban area.
Victory would undoubtedly belong to humanity.
Even if there were setbacks in the early stages, Nick still firmly believed this! After all, the vampires' weaknesses were too obvious. This was not the Middle Ages when vampires were extremely active and at their peak. Humans had long mastered powerful forces. The only things that gave Nick and the authorities a headache were the price and shock that would have to be paid this time.
Back down?
Impossible!
Even if he, Luke, and those advocating force were willing to back down and negotiate, all negotiations would be just false bubbles if the problem of vampires being a material for longevity elixirs couldn't be resolved. They had stirred up a huge wave, but as the first wave, they had long been pushed forward uncontrollably by the subsequent waves.
Those so-called proponents of force might have obtained Luke's information from the human side, wanting to eliminate him and even himself, but they didn't understand at all that once Pandora's box was opened, even without Luke and himself now, the vampires could no longer return to their previous position as intelligent beings like humans.
"That kind of rhetoric is probably hard to scare him with, sir," Agent Hill said somewhat helplessly. "At the very least, all of their employees in Hebron can transform into werewolves. I don't believe Hebron doesn't have a werewolf serum reserve."
"Don't say things like that," Nick glared at Agent Hill. Who would want to host a werewolf and vampire party within their own company unless absolutely necessary? Osborn Industries had only a lizardman, a little spider, and a symbiote, and Norman Osborn, that gloomy fellow, had already been ranting about it in newspaper headlines for two days.
"Who's in charge of 'Big Shot' now?" Nick asked, seeing that Agent Hill had straightened up, and then asked about another problematic figure in his mind.
"Agent Phil Coulson," Hill quickly replied.
"Have Agent Phil Coulson also inform Stark. Two clever minds might be able to prepare some kind of decisive weapon for us." Nick grinned. "After all, this is the first time I've seen such a large-scale gathering of vampires causing trouble since I took office as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. I have to show some importance."
...
"Come over, come over."
George Stacy waved to the officers under his command. Beside him were familiar faces from Hebron, and several familiar boxes with the Hebron logo – a sci-fi city design.
"Chief, is this Hebron's new weapon sponsorship?" An officer boldly approached, smiling and trying to get information.
"New weapons, new bullets." George Stacy's face was very serious. He glared at the approaching officer, watching him retreat sheepishly before saying, "Latest news! The city may not be peaceful at night for the next few days. There may be a curfew for a few days. We need to be responsible for the safety of our jurisdiction."
"That's for sure." The officers didn't object to this. The most important thing in their jurisdiction was the Hebron employee residential area, wasn't it? It was also because of this that they were the first in the entire New York Police Department to enjoy the various technological benefits of Hebron! Many of them had a good impression of the generous Hebron.
"According to the previous rules, everyone comes up to collect their share. Then you can carry your weapons today. Remember to read the instructions before using them." George Stacy patted the boxes beside him, signaling his subordinates to follow the rules.
Someone stepped forward to maintain order, and the officers also skillfully lined up, waiting to receive their equipment.
Chief George Stacy returned to his office with the familiar faces from Hebron.
"I still can't believe it, Mr. Thomas," George Stacy said with a somewhat drifting tone after pouring Anto Thomas a cup of his favorite black tea.
"In fact, I couldn't believe it either when I heard the news," Anto Thomas skillfully added a spoonful of white sugar to his black tea, took a sip, and replied with a smile.
"Vampires, good heavens! I always thought these creatures were just fictional, used to scare children." George Stacy scratched his hair. He felt that this world, which he was originally very familiar with, had suddenly become strange. Since there were even vampires, what about those gods in legends? Could they also exist?
Are those illusory things really all fake? He used to be a staunch materialist!
"It can only be said that there are many secrets in this world. All we can do is protect ourselves and protect our families." Anto Thomas shrugged. "These days, you'd better tell your family members to stay at home after dark and not sneak out. Keep some silver cutlery on hand."
"Oh, yes, I have to call Gwen and tell her to come home early tonight!" George Stacy thought of his daughter who went to Hebron for a work-study program after school.
"Miss Gwen has already been given a vacation," Anto reminded. "Those bullets are all special ultraviolet bullets. In the words of the research department, they can easily kill those vampires. The matching firearms have two firing modes. One is normal, which is to shoot the bullet out, hit the target, and solve the target. The other is the concussion mode, which will detonate the bullet nearby, causing ultraviolet damage to vampires within a five-meter radius!
If an officer is approached, this mode can be used to save lives. Remember, ordinary bullets are difficult to truly harm those vampires. They have powerful self-healing abilities and are very fast. If you sense something is wrong, don't hesitate, shoot immediately!"
"I remember it." Chief George nodded with a serious expression. He planned to convey what Thomas said verbatim to his subordinates.
"Finally, this is a personal gift from Mr. Field." Anto solemnly took out a silver-white metal tube injection from his arms. He put the injection into Chief George's hand. "This is a transformation serum produced by the Hebron laboratory. It can give you great strength for a period of time! It can save lives in critical moments! Originally, it was only provided to certain special departments."
"Thank little Luke for me." George tightly held the injection in his hand.
