American comics: Starting with Luke the Maker

#89 - Resistance, potion, complaint

Three-Winged Building.

Nick Fury looked at Agent Hill with a solemn expression.

"So, they finally couldn't hold back and decided to fight to the death?" Nick Fury said in a low voice.

This wasn't unexpected. After all, they were a dark race with considerable power. Even though humans were now in charge, the power of the vampires couldn't be easily ignored. Just as there were human-leaning factions within the vampire hierarchy, there were naturally vampire-leaning factions among humans. The intelligence game and power struggles between the two sides had been ongoing from beginning to end.

Now that the vampires' underground industries and manpower had suffered significant blows, you couldn't expect them to act as if nothing had happened, without investigating, retaliating, or taking any countermeasures!

"Yes, if the intelligence is correct, their movements recently have been approaching New York. They believe the main culprit behind all this is in New York, and the only way to get the vampires out of their current predicament is to eliminate the culprit first," Agent Hill reported the intelligence she had received in a businesslike manner.

"What are the specifics?" Nick Fury curled his lip at the vampires' actions mentioned by Agent Hill. "Have the moderates taken action?"

If the human-leaning moderates also took action, then some people in the government would have a reason to eliminate them all together. Otherwise, it would be embarrassing for the authorities to strike hard against helpers who had provided a lot of important intelligence and vampire strongholds.

Of course, the government had no face to speak of, but it wasn't as if the vampires had collected so much information that they had plenty to spare after this wave of attacks. There was no need to sacrifice the moderates for short-term gain. If it was really necessary in the future, the authorities wouldn't mind shedding crocodile tears of false compassion.

Capture first, then cry.

"Our actions with the military some time ago did not target the moderates, but mainly focused on the radical and militant factions within the vampire clan," Hill flipped through the intelligence and said, "This operation was also mainly planned by them. They are said to be preparing to conduct a ritual to pray for power from a certain existence in the dark, said to be a demon god of the vampires. This intelligence comes from the vampire hunter, Blade. Although he refused S.H.I.E.L.D.'s recruitment, he still hopes to get our help on this matter."

"All sorts of demons and monsters are coming out now. First aliens, then gods from ancient legends, and now some demon god! Why hasn't a mage appeared in this world? According to those fantasy concepts, shouldn't these troubles be handled by those mages?" Nick Fury couldn't help but complain. But he was just complaining, and he still had to make the preparations he should make.

"Contact Blade, we will send people over to help him. He doesn't need to worry about anything else, just stop that so-called demon god from descending," Nick Fury still knew what was important. In any case, a demon god sounded like a big trouble. Moreover, he had also learned a lot about the history of the vampires during this period. There were many theories about their origin, but the demon god theory should be true within the vampire clan.

Whether it was this demon god or not was hard to say, but it didn't prevent him from treating it as the demon god in the vampire legends.

"Yes," Hill nodded.

"As for the vampire militant factions gathering in New York, ha, does Little Luke know about this news?" Nick Fury asked with a bit of a smile in his one eye.

"Hard to say, I only know that Heberon has recently provided a batch of werewolf potions to some special forces," Hill shrugged. If the government's intervention was bad news for the vampire militant factions, then the werewolf potions produced by Heberon were a nightmare for the vampires. This potion directly turned an ordinary human soldier into a monster that could compete with vampires in strength and speed.

Once you appeared within a certain range of them, no matter how far you escaped, as long as you didn't immediately get out of their tracking range, their sense of smell could lock onto your location. This made it impossible for you to hide, even in a crowd.

This left the vampires with no room to dodge and maneuver.

Once they were caught up by them, it would definitely not be a lone werewolf, but a pack of werewolves, at least five werewolves, each of whom was incredibly strong and could use the special weapons prepared for them by humans. Even more terrifying was that their claws and teeth secreted a toxin that made vampires weak and paralyzed. The vampires' high resistance was useless against this unknown toxin, and they didn't even have room to resist.

Once some unlucky fellow was scratched or bitten, it wouldn't be long before he became an uncontrollable living dead.

They weren't as strong as werewolves.

They weren't much faster than werewolves.

Werewolves weren't bad at self-healing either.

The only advantage vampires had was that they possessed a certain amount of dark energy and could use some so-called vampire magic. However, the werewolves' tough skin had excellent resistance to this dark energy. This meant that if they output too much energy, their hands and feet would become weak, and if they output too little energy, the werewolves would not be hurt at all.

It could be said that the appearance of this potion was completely designed to target vampires.

It was said that the military was very satisfied with the effect of this potion and even considered it a successful super-soldier potion! But the only bad point was that it was time-limited, and it didn't permanently change one's genes like other super-soldier potions. It was like injecting a special energy into the body. You could transform at any time as long as this energy was not completely consumed, but once the energy was exhausted, you could not transform again unless you injected the potion again.

Another thing was that it had certain intelligence-reducing attributes!

They could accept tasks, perform tasks, and even cooperate, but compared to the tactical literacy of normal soldiers, it could only be said to be nonsense. Especially once they entered a combat state, they would be completely dominated by the desire to fight that emerged in their bodies, becoming a fighting weapon rather than a qualified soldier.

However, this defect was not unbearable in light of the many advantages. The biggest complaint from the authorities was that it was only a time-limited transformation potion! They wanted a permanent one! However, Heberon's answer was that a time-limited one was the most perfect super-soldier potion! Because not only would it not cause any ethical controversy, but it would also not prevent the same soldier from using new potions in the future.

They at Heberon were doing this entirely for the safety and future of the authorities and soldiers! Especially after the soldiers retired, there was no need to worry about the werewolf soldiers bringing trouble to social stability, etc.

"I think they just want to make more money," a general complained in a private setting.
