Chapter 23 Campus Panic
By the time Peter awoke in the infirmary that evening, word had spread throughout the school of the attack in the basement corridor.

All classes were suspended that day, and all the teachers went out to inspect every corner of the school carefully, even the bathroom.

All the students were gathered in the auditorium for self-study - to be precise, they wrote screenplays in the auditorium.

Now that no one was talking about the Triwizard Tournament, or interested in wearing the 'Support Cedric Diggory, Potter Stinks' badge, the only talk of the school was the attack.

"I know what's in the basement," exclaimed a Gryffindor student, "and there's a werewolf in there!"

Several girls covered their mouths and exclaimed.

Unfortunately, Professor McGonagall just walked in and deducted five points from his house.

Harry and Ron made the SPEW badge under the leadership of Hermione (Harry and Ron were separated by Hermione). Although they were doing it, their hearts had already drifted elsewhere.

Especially Harry, he was the most difficult. Someone in the school wanted to kill him, but Professor Peddie and Professor Snape were implicated.

It was a week before the first project of the Triwizard Tournament, and there was a villain in the school that the two professors could not defeat together, and Harry couldn't help but worry.

As soon as Peter showed up in the Great Hall, Harry, Ron, and Hermione dropped the vomit badge and ran towards him.

Hermione, running ahead of the three, jumped up and hugged Peter tightly, burying her face in his coat.

When she looked up, there were two tear marks on her face.

It turned out that Hermione was not in the mood to make a vomit badge, she just wanted to distract her attention and relieve her worries.

"Professor Peddie..." she cried, "They say you and Professor Snape were eaten by werewolves."

Peter leaned down, level with Hermione, and patted her on the back softly.

"Don't listen to their nonsense, I'm fine, and Professor Snape... is fine." Peter said pretending to be relaxed.

He actually didn't know if Snape was still alive at the moment, and what he said could only be regarded as a good hope, anyway, it was something to comfort the child.

Instead of going to the teachers' table afterward, he sat for a while at the Gryffindor table with Harry, Ron and Hermione.

A large crowd of students had gathered, begging Peter to tell what had happened that night, and even the Slytherins were listening quietly.

Peter gave a brief account of how he had dealt with the giant snakes and how Snape had saved his life - avoiding the werewolf facts, of course.

He left out the scariest parts, like the horrific whispers he'd heard.

After listening to Peter's narration, the panic in the auditorium further expanded.

Countless huge black snakes will grow on the walls of Hogwarts Castle. Just imagining this scene makes people shudder.

This time it's the basement, but who knows which wall will be blackened next time?

"Professor Peddy, we can't be as strong as you, how should we deal with this curse?" Lavender asked sharply.

Neville was pale with fear. He was the only student who hadn't yet learned how to create magical spaces.

"Don't worry, I will focus on this aspect in class." Peter said while drinking a glass of pumpkin juice.

Earlier today, Peter replayed his battle in the infirmary, and he realized that he had been away from the battle for too long after all, and he performed poorly in many places.

The first is the physical problem. Many years of academic career has turned Peter Peddy from a soldier into a scholar. His physical shortcomings were very obvious in this battle. In the end, he was easily defeated by the nerd Snape. His performance was really embarrassing.

Moreover, the number of items he can conjure at one time is too small to suppress the number of snakes in the corridor, which is so embarrassing.

Another point is that his combat awareness is not sharp enough. Before entering a suspicious place, he should first create a magic space to investigate carefully. It is too reckless to directly break into the corridor this time.

After reflection, Peter plans to use the evening time to compile these skills into booklets and distribute them to the students, so that the students can learn how to protect themselves.

At dinner that day, Dumbledore still didn't come back, which added to the terrifying atmosphere in the school.

Professor McGonagall's face was very ugly. She ate dinner unwillingly. Dumbledore did not come back for a whole day, which probably meant bad news about Snape.

After dinner, the students of the other three colleges were taken back to the common room by their deans, and the Slytherin house was temporarily managed by Peter.

To be on the safe side, the Slytherin students will not go back to the dormitory to sleep tonight. After all, no one knows whether the hidden murderer will attack the basement corridor again.

With a wave of his wand, Peter conjured up dozens of cozy red sleeping bags, extinguished most of the candles in the auditorium, and ordered the students to sleep right away.

Peter took a special look at Malfoy: his face was still pale, he timidly avoided Peter's gaze, and his whole person became extraordinarily well-behaved, not like the usual prickly young master.

Could it be that the recent successive setbacks have dampened Malfoy's self-confidence?Or does Malfoy have some unspeakable secrets?
Wand in hand, Peter paced back and forth in the Great Hall, watching his surroundings vigilantly, standing guard for the Slytherins.

Soon, McGonagall settled the Gryffindor students and returned to the auditorium. She insisted on changing shifts with Peter and told him to go back to rest quickly.

The next day, with the exception of Potions, the school resumed classes.

When Peter walked into the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, he found the room densely packed with students who had come to learn how to deal with curses.

Peter felt a headache, there was no way to practice with so many people crowded together, so he had to send everyone a copy of the "Wizard Combat Guide" written by himself, and promised to find another time to hold a large public class in the auditorium.

Disappointed at first, the students were amazed when they started reading The Wizard's Guide to Combat.

This book is completely different from theoretical books such as "Black Magic: A Guide to Self-Defense". It is full of the most practical wizard fighting skills, and this class ends quickly in a pleasant reading.

At lunchtime, Dumbledore returned.

Seeing Dumbledore's figure, Professor McGonagall stood up nervously.

Dumbledore knew what she was most concerned about. He asked McGonagall to sit down and motioned for Peter to come closer.

"Severus is at St. Mungo's," said Dumbledore briskly. "We're going to visit him this afternoon and take Harry with us. There are some things we should let Harry know."

Professor McGonagall let out a long breath.
