Hogwarts Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor Peter
Chapter 22 Disc
Chapter 22 Disc
"Professor Peddie?" Professor Andonova said, "Are you all right?"
Peter woke up blinking, and found Professor Andonova's slender hand resting on his shoulder.
She was very close to him, still wearing her fur cloak, but beneath it was a rich nightgown of silk.
"I'm fine, I'm just too sleepy," Peter quickly stood up straight, "What are you doing here?"
"Professor McGonagall told me that a black magic curse occurred in the corridor. I want to investigate before the magic dissipates." Professor Andonova looked at the dark corridor with a fascinated expression.
"The corridor ahead is very dangerous, so don't rush through it," Peter reminded.
"I know," said Professor Andonova, "I can feel the strong black magic atmosphere in the corridor ahead, but it is no longer dangerous there, and the black magic has dissipated with the sunrise."
Peter was very surprised. He suddenly remembered what Snape said before: "The curse will disappear at dawn." Why did Professor Andonova know the conditions for the curse to disappear like Snape?
Professor Andonova walked into that corridor slowly. Peter lit up his wand and followed carefully. Sure enough, the black snake did not appear again. The corridor was silent, only her boots slapped on the ground. There was a soft click.
She took out a beautifully carved disc from her pocket, and put it close to the wall of the basement corridor, the carved patterns on the disc immediately glowed green.
Professor Andonova stared intently at the disc in her hand, and slowly moved deeper into the corridor, obsessively observing every tiny change.
"It really is a very dangerous black magic." She said, but Peter felt that she was not nervous or scared at all, but a little excited, and two blushes of excitement appeared on her fair cheeks.
McGonagall once said that Professor Andonova's black magic attainments are extremely high, and some people believe that she is the next Grindelwald. As expected, she talked about black magic as if she was talking about her lover.
"Professor Andonova," said Peter politely, "what is your opinion on this matter?"
Peter intended to test her, to see if she knew anything.
She shook her head, and continued to walk deep into the corridor, as if she hadn't heard Peter's words at all, she had already immersed herself in such a "miraculous" black magic.
The floor of the corridor was covered with stones, and there were many traces of fierce fighting on the walls. In the chaos, Peter found his wand that Snape had snatched from him.
He stooped to pick up his wand, slipping Snape's wand into his pocket.
Professor Andonova saw his actions, and she asked, "Which unfortunate wizard's wand is this?"
"You mean the one on the ground? This is my wand." Peter felt a little puzzled.
Hearing his words, Professor Andonova was taken aback.
"How is this possible?" She said incredulously, "I know that you are a brilliant wizard, Professor Peddy, but people who fall into this black magic trap will never survive. This is not just a trap, This is the superposition of hundreds of deadly traps..."
"I was indeed attacked," Peter said briefly.
"This... this is impossible, no wizard can survive a thousand black magic snakes." She said stubbornly.
"I'm pretty sure I'm still alive," Peter said helplessly. "To be honest, I'm not that powerful. I almost died. Fortunately, Professor Snape arrived in time. He rescued me, but he was seriously injured .”
"It's actually his wand," Peter showed her, taking Snape's wand out of his pocket. "I wouldn't be standing here talking to you without him."
Professor Andonova still had a shocked expression on her face: "I'm sorry, Professor Peddy, I didn't mean any harm, I just can't believe that someone can survive such an attack..."
She raised the magic disc again and moved slowly along the corridor, the breath of black magic remained on every inch of the wall.
She examined the remnants of dark magic intently, her brown eyes gleaming as if admiring a rare treasure.
"Look, this black magic attacker was able to summon so many giant snakes on such a wall. Not only that, this person also used a special spell to make these giant snakes invisible."
As she said that, she bent down to observe the powder on the ground, "The attacker also set up a spell that can extinguish the flames in the passage, which is really thoughtful."
She continued in an admiring tone: "The preparation time for this magic must be very short, and there is no need to cast spells or perform other rituals, otherwise the teachers and students who come and go will easily find out."
"Wait," Peter said, "I heard a deafening curse, didn't the others hear it?"
Andonova shook her head and said suspiciously: "Last night, I was on the big ship Durmstrang. It may be a relatively long distance, so I didn't hear anything."
She continued to check the wall, and whenever her disk was close to the wall, the light of the magic pattern would become more intense, and when the disk moved away, the light would dim again.
"Excuse me, what is this?" Peter asked, pointing to Yuanpan.
"This disk can trace the source of black magic. My grandparents passed it on to me, but the caster is so impeccable that it may take a lot of time to find his flaws."
Peter suddenly realized that the working principle of this disc was similar to his magic space.
He waved his magic wand, creating a magic space. The silver-white border enveloped the two of them together. Immediately, a wisp of green mist floated from the disk, floating slowly upwards.
Andonova was very surprised, and Peter explained to her the principle of magic space. As the concentration of magic power increases, the remnants of black magic are more easily detected, and the direction in which this mist drifts is the first clue for them to reveal the secret.
The two looked obliquely upwards through the mist, and there was only monotonous and rough stone walls on the ceiling of the corridor, which was not unusual, but from the mist floating upwards, it could be concluded that the source of the dark magic was within Hogwarts Castle.
Soon, more teachers came into the hall.
Professor Sprout was carefully checking the passage in front of the Hufflepuff common room, followed by Professors McGonagall and Flitwick.
Seeing Peter, Professor McGonagall exclaimed.
"Peter, didn't you say you were going to find Madam Pomfrey? You haven't rested after fighting all night, have you?"
"The murderer hasn't been caught yet, so I'm not in the mood to rest," Peter said.
"Now go to Madam Pomfrey, I'll take care of it here." Professor McGonagall said sternly, "I have notified the Ministry of Magic, and we will search the entire school soon..."
"Cough cough."
A fake cough interrupted Meg, and Umbridge appeared with her smirk, and she bowed obsequiously to Andonova.
Professor Flitwick and Professor Sprout stopped what they were doing and stared at her in disgust.
"Minerva, Hogwarts has let our foreign guests down, and as I have often suggested to the Minister, the school needs a complete overhaul. The failure of the Hogwarts teachers in this incident is entirely As I expected—"
"Dolores, Professor Snape's life and death are uncertain now, what are you talking about here?" McGonagall said angrily.
"Oh no no no, I mean Professor Peddie..."
"It's already a miracle that Professor Pedilu can survive such a curse." Andonova said with a straight face.
Umbridge was retorted by the object of his flattery, and his toad-like mouth opened and closed dryly.
"Shut up, Umbridge," said Peter impatiently. "You take your Wizarding Education Committee and clean up this corridor."
