Stupid Odin

#88 - Hela's Decision (Part 4)

Here, Loki, keenly aware of Odin's dislike and disgust, didn't utter a word, his heart sinking straight to the bottom of Jotunheim's coldest, ice-sealed abyss.

Loki didn't even ask Odin if he was willing to make his newborn daughter, Hela, an Aesir goddess, but simply asked Odin three words: "What to do?"

What to do?!

Every time you give birth to a monster, you ask me what to do?

Odin's face turned red, his one eye darting around.

Although the reason he gained from the Well of Wisdom kept telling him—accept her, she will become one of your most powerful fighters—Odin couldn't hide his physiological rejection and disgust towards Hela.

After only a second of 'deliberation,' he made the same decision as in his epic: [Exile].

Oh, not exile, but he came up with a more elegant saying.

"A celestial anomaly! She is no ordinary Aesir god. Her fate is likely related to the [Ragnarok] event. I have no right to decide unilaterally and must notify my elder brother, Thanes."

Interesting!

For the Aesir, every word in Odin's statement was correct. But why did every word sound like a steel needle, piercing his heart fiercely, when Loki heard it?

How many times has this happened?

Loki almost couldn't hide his resentment and anger: My eldest son, Sleipnir, looks like a normal pegasus, and you, Odin, happily took it to ride. You don't care about my second son, Fenrir, and let Thanes kill him. My grandson, Hati, was also sold by you. Now that you see my fourth daughter, Hela, looking like this, you despise her again?

Only good things, no bad things!

Reap all the benefits, and avoid all the bad?

Even though they were cousins and childhood friends, and their relationship was so good that they shared a pair of pants, under the repeated blows of Odin's ruthless betrayal, Loki's recognition and loyalty to Odin were also worn away.

What remained was only anger and resentment!

Even though the rage in his heart was surging like a stormy sea, the actor Loki still wore a look of utter despair on his face, and said plainly: "Oh, that's true. Hela must be reported to the God-King, and he will decide."

At this moment, Loki had already prepared for the worst. The woman might be killed, and the best outcome would be nothing more than exile.

Loki no longer cared about how Odin viewed it or what he did.

Instead, he felt a glimmer of hope for Thanes.

Also a cousin, Thanes had always treated him, Loki, with a dismissive and distant attitude. In handling major affairs, Thanes's attitude was completely different from Odin's. Thanes would never harm him, Loki.

After ascending to the throne of God-King, Thanes's handling of affairs could be described as fair.

This gave Loki a little hope.

Not long after Odin reported, the Valkyrie arrived.

Leading them was Thanes's most trusted divine messenger, Hermod, and it seemed incredibly formal for this divine messenger with a divine title to announce the God-King's decree: "Your Majesty Odin, Lord Loki, His Majesty God-King Thanes invites you to bring Ms. Angrboda and Goddess Hela to the Silver Palace."

A formal notification, and at the end, he added: "Rest assured, His Majesty said that this may not be a bad thing."

If Odin said this, Loki wouldn't believe even a punctuation mark now. He was used to Odin going back on his word and playing word games. When Hermod, Thanes's son, said this, Loki actually found himself believing it a little.

"Lead the way!"

The snow-white radiance of the Silver Palace made the palace appear pure and holy. Especially the Supreme Throne in the center of the main hall, which only the God-King could sit on, and its magic power to peer into the past and future, made the palace even more legendary.

Loki always suspected that Thanes had already seen the direction of fate.

But this brought another question: Wouldn't there be a price to pay for wantonly predicting the future?

Loki and his party knelt on the steps in front of the God-Throne, which was a sign of submission and also to await the expected judgment of destruction.

His lover, Angrboda, couldn't help but sob.

Loki continued to remain silent.

On this day, there were no giants in the hall, and not many gods either.

Only Thor, Tyr, and Gullveig were present.

To the surprise of all those present, Thanes stood up at the beginning, walked down the steps slowly, and then drew a divine sword with a black blade, approaching Hela, who was placed on a stone platform.

"No…" Angrboda let out a wail. She had only called out half a sound when Loki covered her mouth with one hand and grabbed her shoulder with the other.

She was a female giant, and Loki's strength was even inferior to hers, but Loki just pulled her like this, and she forcibly stopped her body.

Loki's perception could be said to be top-notch, not in terms of hearing and vision, but in terms of the sensitivity of his senses.

He was surprised to find that Thanes didn't intend to hurt his daughter?!

Coming to the stone platform, Hela actually opened her eyes, one beautiful and clear pupil and one cloudy and wooden corpse-eye staring at Thanes at the same time.

Logically speaking, this was a very eerie and terrifying scene, and its disgusting level made Odin reluctant to look at it.

Only Thanes remained calm: "Don't worry, I won't harm you."

No one expected that Hela would actually nod her head and let out a "giggle" of laughter.

The Aesir, as a fighting race, were intelligent very early, and could have considerable combat power at the age of three or four.

However, a being like Hela, who could clearly understand the situation in front of her, was definitely a rare existence.

"Ah!" Angrboda covered her mouth in surprise.

The corners of Thanes's mouth raised slightly: "Being tormented by the power of death is very painful, isn't it? Although I want to say that this is your destiny, if you really don't want it, you can transfer part of your power to this sword. From today onwards, no matter how many times you ask me in the future, I will answer—this will steal a portion of the power that originally belonged to you. In exchange, you will gain the beauty that a goddess should have. Choose for yourself!"

These words stirred up a storm of surprise in the hearts of the listeners.

No one thought that Thanes's famous [Sword of the Nine Realms] actually had this effect!

Thanes was right. Don't look at the fact that he had nine swords, but in reality, the power of these nine swords was never similar, let alone equal.

The strongest were of course the [Sword of Jotunheim] and [Sword of Muspelheim], which had two primordial giants as their sword souls, followed by his natal [Sword of Asgard]. As for the remaining six swords, he had control over them, but no extra blessing, so it could only be said that their power was passable.

The [Sword of Helheim] that he handed over this time was a typical half-baked product. However, if it had the blessing of Hela's original power, it would leap from a second-rate level to a top-level divine sword.

Hela's two completely different eyeballs turned for a moment, and she was obviously thinking.

In just a few seconds, her withered and terrifying dead infant hand actually stretched out on its own and grasped the blade of the [Sword of Helheim].
