Chapter 48 Therapist Qualification Examination

By the time Esther arrived at the Order of the Phoenix, Harry had gone back to his room to sleep.Mrs. Weasley kindly brought Esther some bread and gravy for a midnight snack.Esther was indeed famished, and gratefully ate her plate, praising Mrs Weasley's craftsmanship.Mrs. Weasley's face flushed slightly after being praised.

After supper, Esther got up to say goodbye, and went back to the Leaky Cauldron. She poured herself a large potion so that she could stay awake all night while reading.

When she came to her senses the next day, it was almost eight o'clock, almost late. She washed, changed and dressed hastily, and hurried downstairs to Floo to the Ministry of Magic without even having breakfast.

Emerging from the fireplace, Esther followed the flow of people dazedly. She didn't have time to take a closer look at the situation in the foyer, and hurried to a table on the right side of the fountain that said the registration of the therapist's exam.

A wizard in a green plaid robe saw her and asked, "Esther Collins?"

Est nodded.

"You're late, Miss Collins," said the angry man, "you kept me waiting for half an hour, and the last person had already gone in."

"Sorry, sir." Esther wanted to get rid of him quickly, and she was also very anxious about being late.

"Come with me." The man led her through the foyer, to the desk marked "Security Check", and said to a somewhat scruffy wizard in a peacock blue robe, "Take the healer qualification exam."

"Come this way," said the wizard absently. He gave Esther a casual sweep with a long golden rod. "Wand," he said again.

Esther handed over the wand. The wizard put it into a brass machine with trays. The machine vibrated slightly and spit out a narrow strip of parchment from underneath.

"Twelve and one-half inches, the core is phoenix tail feathers, it has been used for seven years, right?" He checked the parchment.

"Yes." Esther replied quickly.

"I'll keep this, take the wand away." The wizard gave Esther the wand.

"Thank you." Esther said, turning to look at the wizard in the green plaid robe.

"Okay, come with me to the examination room." The wizard in the green plaid robe finished leading her to the elevator.

Twenty elevators formed a large half circle along the rotunda, and each elevator was blocked by a golden grille door. They came to the only unused elevator on the right and were about to start, when three people hurried in from the outside.

"Can you take us downstairs first, Ferguson?" said the person who came in quickly.

Esther recognized Dumbledore's voice. She looked up and was surprised to find that following Dumbledore were Mrs. Figg and Aunt Connie whom she hadn't seen for a long time.

"This is a special elevator, Mr. Dumbledore. You can wait for the few next to you. This lady is going to be late for the therapist qualification exam." Ferguson said nervously.

"Can this lady help me? We need to catch up with an unfair trial." Dumbledore said to Esther in a very polite tone, as if they were not familiar with each other.

"Uh, of course." Esther was a little dazed.

"That's great," said Dumbledore cheerfully, "start the elevator, please."

"Well...I can't...this elevator has to go up..." Ferguson said dryly.

Esther guessed that someone didn't want Dumbledore to be there, and hinted in advance that the staff of the Ministry of Magic in the hall should not provide any help if they encountered him.

"Can you hurry up?" Esther imitated Malfoy's tone and said arrogantly, "If I am refused to enter the examination room because of you, I will definitely complain to you. I know that Mr. Malfoy will come to the Ministry of Magic today , his son is my junior, we have a very good relationship, you don't want to know the consequences of offending friends of the Malfoy family, do you?"

"You are...but...Mr. Malfoy...well..." Ferguson reluctantly compromised.

As the elevator began to descend, Ferguson muttered to himself.Esther secretly glanced at Aunt Connie, but she didn't pay attention to her at all.

"Ninth floor, Department of Mysteries." An indifferent female voice said.

Dumbledore followed the two ladies out of the elevator, and nodded to Esther, "Thank you, miss, and I wish you success in your exam."

As the elevator closed the bars and was about to start going up, Esther saw Aunt Connie give her a quick look with concern in her eyes. But after a flash, the elevator had left from the ninth floor.

When Esther entered the examination room, others had already started answering the questions. She roughly scanned the test paper and decided to discard a few questions that she was not sure about. Then pick up the quill and quickly write the answer from the first question.

At noon, Esther simply ate a light meal provided by the Ministry of Magic. In the afternoon, there will be a mock therapy exam, one person at a time. When Esther entered, he found that there were three examiners sitting in the front row of the room, and in front of each examiner was a medical dummy that looked like a real person. The task of the exam is to identify the symptoms of each dummy. There are ointments, liquid bandages and other things that need to be used in the treatment box next to them for the candidates to use.

Esther looked over the first dummy from head to toe, showing signs of spell damage. She drew out the spell and chanted a healing spell, but the effect was not very obvious. She took a closer look at the wound, recited the spell Listop, and then used the healing spell, finally showing signs of improvement. She chanted the healing spell over and over until the wound was completely healed. She came to the second dummy again.

The second dummy appears to have been bitten by something.Esther was familiar with this kind of injury, she had treated Snape in the fourth year. She first treated it with wound cleanser, then took the hemostatic medicine and muscle-enhancing potion and spread it evenly, and finally tied it with a magic bandage.

The third dummy is the most difficult to judge, it looks like a disappearing disease like an infectious disease, or it looks like a local injury caused by using the wrong potion.Esther hesitated for a moment, chose to put on a protective cloak and a mask, recited another protective spell, and began to treat the dummy with the strictest protective measures.

The three examiners watched her movements blankly throughout the exam, making Esther wonder whether she was doing right or wrong. She finished the task in hand and looked at the three examiners nervously, waiting for the next instruction.

"You can go back, Miss Collins. The test results will be sent to you next week." The examiner in the middle said.

Esther left the examination room and prepared to use the elevator to go downstairs.Suddenly a man came over and spoke to him, "Hello, Miss Esther Collins."

Esther glanced at the person calling her, it was Percy Weasley.I heard Tonks say that he ran away from home and was firmly on the side of the Ministry of Magic against Dumbledore. It's not a good thing for him to call himself, Esther raised his vigilance.

"Hello, Mr. Percy Weasley." Esther replied politely.

"Long time no see," Percy said in an official tone, "Could you come to the office, I think we need to chat."

"We are not familiar, sir. I don't know what you want to talk to me about." Esther said tactfully.

"A big man wants to see you, you'd better come with me." Percy raised his chin impatiently and looked at Esther proudly.

Esther had to follow Percy into the elevator. The elevator went up and stopped on the first floor. "The Office of the Minister of Magic and the Logistics Department." The indifferent female voice sounded.

The decoration on the first floor is very elegant, and there is a thick purple carpet on the ground. There was no sound in the curved corridor.Percy led her through the shiny wooden doors, stopping at one of them with a wooden sign on it:

Dolores Umbridge

Senior Undersecretary for Magic

Percy knocked carefully on the door.

"Come in," said a high-pitched voice, as if a little girl was behind the door.

When Esther saw the people inside, he realized that the voice was so different from his own.Behind the desk sat a chubby woman in a fuzzy pink cardigan. Her short taupe hair was curled in a large pink bow, her eyelids and cheek skin were loose, her eyes protruded and her jaw was wide.Seeing Percy and Esther come in, he gave a big smirk.

"Thank you, Weasley, can we get some drinks for our guests?" She looked at Esther. "How's the coffee, with more sugar. Sit down and take it easy."

Esther thanked politely and sat in a high-backed chair. The walls were covered with white dishes, and in the center of each dish was a cat staring at her like a fat mouse.Esther rubbed against the back of the chair uncomfortably.

Percy brought two cups of coffee and left consciously.Umbridge drank his coffee without speaking.Esther pretended to take a sip and cast a spell to make the liquid disappear before taking it.

"Cough, cough," Umbridge finally said, and Esther immediately looked at her with a respectful expression. "Miss Esther Collins, Mr. Weasley has been telling me how wonderful you are. I heard you were a Slytherin prefect when you were in school, right?"

"Yes, Ms. Minister." Esther responded in Snape's smooth tone.

"It's the Deputy Minister, Miss." Umbridge corrected her, but there was a hint of smugness in his eyes, "But I heard that you lost your parents very early. Are they Muggles?"

"I don't remember them anymore, Ms. Deputy Minister." Esther replied ambiguously.

"Then who did you grow up with?"

"A relative adopted me."

"It's really sad," Umbridge pursed his lips pretending to be sad, and continued, "The Ministry of Magic has always cherished talents. Have you considered working for the Ministry of Magic?"

"You mean?" Esther showed greedy desire, much to Umbridge's satisfaction.

"You could get an assistant position, like Weasley's, after all you've just graduated. But I'm sure it's a rare job at your age. Much better than being a trainee therapist."

"Thank you for your kindness, Ms. Deputy Minister. How can I get such an honor." Esther looked flattering.

"You're a smart man, Miss Collins." Umbridge stood up and walked around the table and approached her. "I heard that you are also a Triwizard Tournament champion, as long as you publish an article in the Daily Prophet exposing How they made up a lie about the return of You-Know-Who. You can get this opportunity that others only dream of."

The fox finally showed its tail, Esther pursed her lips, thinking about how to get away.

"Think about it, Collins, what a prospect a straight out of school assistant minister is. You get to deal with big people every day, and they remember you quickly and give you more opportunities. How many years does the average person have To get these? You even have to sell their bodies..." Umbridge said in Esther's ear, putting his hand on her shoulder.Esther shivered involuntarily.

"I...I have to think about it." Esther said vaguely.

"Just think about it here, think about it." Umbridge sat back behind his desk, stirring the coffee gently.

It seems that he doesn't intend to let himself go easily, Esther thought to himself, but if he blatantly rejected a deputy minister in the Ministry of Magic, he was afraid that he would be labeled as well.

Or pretend to agree?Esther lowered his head, thinking. In that case, she might directly call the reporter of the "Daily Prophet" to complete the interview task here.

Time passed by, and the atmosphere became a little depressing. Finally Esther said cautiously, "Madam Deputy Minister, I am really tempted by your suggestion. But it is inevitable that you let people of my age blatantly oppose Dumbledore. I am certainly willing to work for the Ministry of Magic. service, so I must put aside my personal interests and serve the interests of the Ministry.

"After so long, most wizards agree with the Ministry of Magic's remarks. If the old matter is suddenly brought up again, it will inevitably make some people suspicious. These suspicions will spread like fire, and the gains outweigh the losses."

"You're making excuses." Umbridge's voice was cloyingly sweet.

"Absolutely not, I assure you. I am also the champion of the Triwizard Tournament, the sensationalist Potter is widely known, but I can only remain unknown, and I have to take additional exams to apply for a therapist. You must know how much I wish him bad luck. If there is a chance, I will definitely let him learn a lesson. But it is really not a good idea to bring up the Triwizard Tournament again." Esther said with all sincerity.

Umbridge looked at Esther, as if considering the credibility of her words. Finally, she put on that smirk again, and said to Esther, "It seems that you don't dare to offend Dumbledore, and you don't want to offend the Ministry of Magic. You are indeed a student of Slytherin. But what you said is also true." Makes sense. Forget it this time, next time I hope to see your loyalty to the Ministry."

"Sure." Esther said goodbye to Umbridge with an elegant curtsy, and slowly exited her office.

Esther, who walked out of the office, almost trotted away. She apparated to 12 Grimmauld Place, hoping to report to Dumbledore what had just happened. But he is not there. It was Harry who excitedly shared with her about his trial.

"I saw Aunt Connie, she testified for me in court." Harry said excitedly to Esther, "I never knew she was a wizard. Fortunately, she is also a wizard."

"She didn't want anyone to know," Esther explained.

"Yeah, I don't want anyone else. You didn't see the expressions of the Wizengamots when she introduced herself. I really can't describe it. It's like seeing a ghost." Harry asked.

"They just couldn't believe that their plot would fall into the hands of a reclusive wizard." Esther blinked mischievously.

Harry chatted with Esther for a long time, except for matters related to missions, Esther always answered all questions.Harry also shared some thoughts with Esther, including his scar hurting again and Dumbledore deliberately avoiding him.

Esther was surprised by Dumbledore's reaction, and wanted to ask Dumbledore, but Harry refused. He didn't want to be seen as a child, as if he was bullied and asked an adult to sue.Esther smiled and patted him on the shoulder to tell him not to be so sensitive, things might not be what he thought.

Mrs Weasley celebrated with a sumptuous dinner.Esther ate a hearty meal. She leaned on the chair sleepily, hesitating whether to sleep here tonight.A cloud of silver mist suddenly appeared, whispering in a voice only Esther could hear, "Go to the Leaky Cauldron and see who Yaxley has seen, and hear what they have to say if you get a chance."

Esther bid farewell to everyone with a face of helplessness, tried to get rid of sleepiness, and performed Snape's temporarily increased work.

Esther saw Yaxley easily.Sitting across from him was a more recognizable woman - Dolores Umbridge.Esther touched the hair that had just turned black guiltily, ordered a glass of mead and sat diagonally behind them.

"...If Hogwarts is no longer monolithic, you will be more highly valued by Connelly, then who can shake your position?" Yaxley said hoarsely.

"But rumor has it that the position is cursed, and no Defense Against the Dark Arts professor lasts longer than a year, and it doesn't go very well," said Umbridge sharply.

"That's why Connelly appreciates your actions, risking your life to work for him," Yaxley said.

"But if Dumbledore disagrees..."

"There is pressure from the Ministry of Magic, and there is no room for him to disagree. You only need to make suggestions to Connelly."

They said a few more words and left.Esther returned to the room, and used the shapeless Patronus to send Snape what he had heard, and also sent the experience of the Ministry of Magic in the afternoon.

"Next time, send this kind of information directly to Dumbledore." Snape's Patronus brought his angry voice, and he didn't know if he was dissatisfied when he learned that someone was thinking about the position of the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor again, or he was disgusted. Angry for being Esther's owl.

Esther resumed her life of running around, collecting a lot of useful and useless information every day.Esther even felt that Snape didn't give her so much work because of taking care of her exams. Now that the exam is over, she can be dispatched at will.

So busy and tired every day that when Tom, the bar owner, handed her the letter from the Wizarding Examinations Authority, she felt that the therapist exam was a thing of the last century. When she got back to her room, she couldn't wait to open the parchment. The theoretical results were mediocre, but the practical results were good. The total score was given a big E.Esther played the report card contentedly, and planned to discuss with Dumbledore about the possibility of going to St. Mungo's by himself.

Harry was going back to Hogwarts in two weeks.Moody selected a few members to serve as guards on September [-]st to escort Harry and the others to King's Cross Station to catch the express train back to school.Esther, as one of the guards, decided to stay overnight at the headquarters the night before school started to ensure that there would be no delay in the next day.

After the meeting, Esther told Dumbledore that he passed the healer exam and wanted to work in St. Mungo's.Unexpectedly, Dumbledore happily encouraged Esther to do what he wanted.

"Of course you can go. The work of the Order of the Phoenix is not all you have. And St. Mungo doesn't have any of us now, so you can just fill this gap." Dumbledore smiled and patted Esther on the shoulder.

Snape seemed much more indifferent to the news. "You proposed the bet, but I did not agree, Miss Collins. Why do you think I will prepare a reward for you." He raised his eyebrows and said.
