Chapter 32

Esther no longer has the strength to fly, in fact she doesn't even have the strength to transform back.Fortunately, Professor Snape picked her up and stuffed her in his pocket.

"Do you have a pet, Professor Snape? It looks pretty smart." Hagrid couldn't hide his excitement, and he spoke as if he was yelling.

"None of your business." Snape replied coldly. In fact, the paw slapped by the werewolf caused him a serious injury, probably hurting his internal organs.

"Professor Snape is quite suitable for keeping bats," Ron whispered to Harry.

"Talk about the professor, ten points from Gryffindor!" Professor Snape glared at them.

"Okay, okay. I suggest everyone visit Madam Pomfrey." Dumbledore said gently, "Severus, will you take them there? I think the minister may have to talk to me A few words."

"Follow me." Snape urged Harry and the others to leave with him.

Walking halfway, Harry suddenly called out: "Professor, have you seen Esther? I haven't seen her since just now!"

"When Lupine turned into a werewolf, I told her to leave first. Now hurry to the school hospital! Don't talk nonsense." Professor Snape said with a sullen face.

After sending Harry away, Snape found an empty classroom, put Esther on the ground, and turned her back into a human form with a wand.

"Thank you, Professor. It was so warm in my pocket, I almost fell asleep." Esther sat on the ground and said to Professor Snape with a bright smile.

"Go to the school hospital quickly." Professor Snape said with a straight face.

"Can you give me a hand? In fact, when I shifted Professor Lupine's sight just now, the wound on the back seemed to be torn. The bat's condition is not obvious, and it seems to be a little weak now." Esther said with a smile.

Professor Snape frowned, but still knelt down and propped up half of Esther's body to help her stand up.A bright red mark was left on the ground.

"Has the bleeding stopped yet?" Professor Snape seemed worried.

"Maybe it cracked when it deformed." Esther said indifferently. She tried to lighten the weight on Professor Snape.

"I didn't know you were hurt so badly." Professor Snape pulled out a stretcher, "Lie down on it, and I'll take you there."

Esther lay obediently on a stretcher and was sent to the school hospital by Professor Snape. The three of Harry have since left, and they don't appear to be seriously injured.

"How did you do this!" Madam Pomfrey exclaimed, "Lie down, I need to expose your wound." She hung up the curtain and prepared to take off her clothes.

"I'm just a flesh wound, just use some white meat. Can you help Professor Snape take a look first? He was attacked to the chest by a beast, and I'm worried that his internal organs were damaged." Esther suggested.

"I'm fine," retorted Professor Snape unhappily.

"Then check it out, it won't take too much time!" Madam Pomfrey said without hesitation, placed Professor Snape on another hospital bed, and threw a few checking spells over him.Professor Snape cast a dissatisfied glance in Esther's direction.

"She's right, it's better to be careful." Madam Pomfrey saw Snape's eyes and spoke for Esther, "There is serious bleeding inside and a broken rib, don't you know the pain yourself? Fortunately, she Let you check it, or I wouldn't have noticed that you were injured too! Wait here, and I'll get you medicine."

"I'll just go back and drink some potions." Professor Snape stubbornly wanted to leave.

"At least stay here for one night, otherwise don't blame me for being rude." Madam Pomfrey's decision is beyond doubt.

The night at the school hospital was very quiet. There was no sound of gurgling water, nor a beating green light, so Esther couldn't sleep. The feeling of ants crawling over as the wound healed was also very uncomfortable for her.She moved her body slightly, trying to relieve the itching and pain.

"Still sleeping?" came Professor Snape's stern voice.

"The wound is not very comfortable, and I can't sleep." Esther didn't dare to move any more, and answered honestly.

Snape was silent for a while, "Just get used to it, go to sleep."

"Do you often get hurt?" Esther said casually.

"Before." Professor Snape seemed unwilling to talk about it.

Esther remembered what Fili the Bat had said about Professor Snape's bad childhood, maybe he'd gotten used to it by then.

Esther couldn't sleep, and she still wanted to talk about something. She tried to find a topic that Snape cared about, "It's a pity that I didn't see Peter being sucked out of his soul by a dementor."

"That's not a beautiful picture, there's nothing to regret." Snape's voice was very low and soft, like the water of the Black Lake outside the dormitory.

"Aren't you angry for not being able to take revenge?" Esther asked.

"I'm even angrier that Black is innocent." Snape finally got a little emotional.

"I thought you only hated him because he was accused of killing Lily," said Esther.

"What do you know?" Snape asked warily.

"I don't know much, but I guess you like Lily, so you hate Harry and his father and their friends." Esther said bravely.

"If you want to stay at Hogwarts, just shut up and go to sleep!" Professor Snape said angrily.

"Do you still like her? I know Lily is a very nice person, but if, I mean if someone likes you, would you put Lily down and fall in love with her?" Esther said carefully.

"That's not what you should ask!" Professor Snape's voice cooled down.

She knew she had crossed Professor Snape's bottom line. But she didn't get an answer, and she was very unwilling. She really wanted to muster up the courage to continue asking, even if he cast a poisonous spell on herself, she still wanted to know the answer.

Suddenly she remembered what Leona said—do you like Professor Snape? She almost bit her tongue in surprise: Why do I care so much about Professor Snape's relationship problems?Am I really... this is impossible, I just... She found that she couldn't find a suitable reason, and she had never even been so serious about the relationship between Leona and Orion. She went through a list of reasons why she might and might not like Professor Snape. She never thought that her mind would be so messed up one day.

Esther didn't fall asleep lying on her stomach until dawn, and she guessed Professor Snape was the same. But he didn't say a word to Esther, and he didn't even say hello to Esther after Madam Pomfrey checked him and allowed him to leave.Maybe I've offended Professor Snape so badly that he won't talk to me anymore, Esther thought pessimistically.

Esther's wound has almost healed, but Madam Pomfrey applied another layer of ointment to remove the scar. "Girls still need to protect their skin, otherwise this scar will scare future boyfriends." Madam Pomfrey said to her with a smile.

After thanking Madam Pomfrey, Esther walked out of the school hospital and prepared to go downstairs to the dungeon. He ran into Professor Lu Ping who was coming out with his luggage.

"Professor Lupine, are you... so anxious?" Esther said implicitly, she guessed that there would be such a result.

"Yeah, it's better to leave voluntarily than forced to leave, isn't it?" Professor Lupine smiled wryly.

"I'll see you off." Esther said and was about to take Lupine's box.

"I can . . . " said Professor Lupine, drawing back.

Esther didn't listen to him, and took the suitcase directly, "Sir, you are not a professor now. Patients should listen to the therapist."

Lupine smiled and said nothing, acquiescing to Esther's actions. The two walked out of the castle side by side, and neither of them spoke until they saw the carriage outside the gate.

"Then, send it here. Goodbye, Esther." Professor Lupine reached out to shake Esther's hand.

"Write to me when you're settled, Remus, goodbye." Esther also shook Lupine's hand, and watched him get into the carriage.

Defense Against the Dark Arts lessons were reduced to once a week for the remainder of the term, with Professor Snape taking over.Esther would have been very happy in the past, because Professor Snape could actually teach them something useful. But it was different now, every Defense Against the Dark Arts class and Potions class became a torment.Snape deliberately ignored Esther, even the nervous Leona saw the clue.

"How did you mess with Professor Snape?" Leona asked Esther in a low voice.

Esther shrugged and said nothing.

"I also think it's impossible for you to offend him," Leona obviously misunderstood, "Then why did he suddenly change his attitude towards you so much?"

Fortunately, the exam is coming soon, and Leona doesn't always have time to dwell on this matter.Coupled with the recent news, Leona quickly shifted her attention.

"Have you heard? Sirius Black was wronged! The murderer was Peter Pettigrew, or an illegal Animagus, a mouse." A student at the table pointed to the "Daily Prophet" and said.

"I heard that Blake is the godfather of the Savior." Another student enthusiastically joined the discussion.

"Oh, what kind of savior, I don't think he has any skills." Malfoy said with a cold snort.

Everyone stopped talking, everyone knew that the Hippogriff's escape made the young master feel extremely bad.No one wants to provoke him at this time.

Entering the exam week, Esther has not received a letter from Lupin. I don't know if he is hiding from him deliberately, or he has nowhere to stay.Esther originally wanted to boil Wolfsbane potion and send it to him, but now it seems that he doesn't need it.

Although Esther was able to control her emotions well, her frustration still affected her test scores. The charm test was about to fill the glass with water, but she filled a glass with ice cubes. She had to change the color of her hair in the transformation test, and she almost set her hair on fire. The most tragic thing is potions. She turned the euphoric potion into a pot of black mud and didn't get ridiculed by Professor Snape. In fact, he wasn't even close to Est's console.

In the last week before the holiday, Esther got her own disastrous test results. Both Leona and Orion were a little worried about her, but she kept telling them seriously that it was just a small mistake and it didn't matter.

On the Hogwarts Express back to London, Harry found Esther patrolling the carriage.

"Esther, Sirius said that I can live with him this summer, but I have to live at my aunt's house for two weeks. After that, I will move to Sirius, and he said he would invite you to his house as a guest. In addition, Ron He said that there will be the Quidditch World Cup during the summer vacation, and I will probably go with him, do you want to go and see it?"

"Congratulations, you finally got rid of your uncle and aunt. But I won't go, I plan to go to St. Mungo's in the summer vacation, and study in advance." Esther casually found an excuse to prevaricate. She knew that Professor Snape had a bad relationship with Sirius, even though Snape ignored her now, she didn't want to get too close to his enemy.

"Okay then, I'll write to you later." Harry didn't think about it that much, thinking that Esther really couldn't go because of something, and felt regretful.

After getting off the train, Esther apparated to the designated area and returned home.Aunt Connie enthusiastically helped her carry her luggage into the house. Finally returning to her bedroom, Esther couldn't help releasing the emotions that had been suppressed for a long time. She wept silently at first, then burst into tears. But she didn't forget to cast the ear-closing spell on the door, and even Aunt Connie didn't notice her sadness.

It was a doomed holiday, and Harry left Privet Drive early.Orion is probably in love with Leona.Esther locked herself in her bedroom every day and tried to control her emotions. She kept hinting to herself: Just like before, I don't have any special feelings for Professor Snape; no before, no now, and no future! She brainwashed herself over and over again every day, but the more she hinted at herself, the more clearly she could recall every bit of their relationship. He's really not a comfortable friend, but he really helped Estemo and even saved his own life.Esther herself didn't know when she had such strong feelings for Professor Snape, and before she knew it, she became very trusting of him.

Aunt Connie didn't know what was on Esther's mind, but it was obviously abnormal to shut herself in the bedroom every day.She tried to find something interesting to get Esther to go out, but Esther refused.

She was so caught up in her feelings that she missed Leonor's birthday all through the holidays.Orion's slightly blunt letter reminded her of what she had promised. She hurriedly sent Leona a snakeskin bag inlaid with moonstones. As long as the spell is cast on this bag, only the owner can open it.

A week before the start of school, Aunt Connie seemed to have finally given up on insinuating ways, and directly sat in front of Esther and asked her seriously: "Honey, what happened?"

"It's nothing, auntie, some relationship problems." Esther said vaguely.

Aunt Connie looked at Esther with a complicated expression, and said hesitantly: "In normal times, I really want to listen carefully, but now is not a good time to talk about feelings, if you are not deeply involved , I hope you will temporarily give up this relationship."

Esther looked at Aunt Connie in surprise, she had never forced herself to do anything like this, she couldn't help asking: "Why?"

"It's not just about feelings, I hope you can ask for leave this semester and not go to Hogwarts, or you can prepare to apply for a Muggle university." Aunt Connie said seriously.

"You want me to drop out of school? You were the one who suggested I go to Hogwarts six years ago. Now I'm a year away from graduating and you're making me a Muggle? I'm already going to St. Mungo's as a healer… ..."

"That was before, not now." Aunt Connie said stiffly.

"What happened?" Esther finally felt that something was wrong with Aunt Connie, and her emotional distress made her perception decline.

"Look at this." Aunt Connie handed her a copy of the "Daily Prophet." The biggest headline on the front page read: Horror at the Quidditch World Cup.In the accompanying black-and-white flash photo, a huge boa constrictor swims like a snake from the mouth of a larger skull.

"What's wrong?" Esther asked puzzled.

"This is the Dark Mark!" Aunt Connie was very angry at Esther's ignorance, "The mysterious man is back, you can't stay in the wizarding world any longer!"

"What does the return of the mysterious man have to do with me? I'm just an unknown student..."

"Because you are a descendant of Shafiq!" Aunt Connie said excitedly, "He has been looking for Shafiq's descendants, your grandfather, your uncle, your aunt..."

"Why is he looking for Shafiq's descendants?" Esther never knew that there were so many people in his mother's family.

"There are rumors that people from the Shafik family can give people eternal life, and everyone knows that the mysterious man is pursuing immortality." Aunt Connie said in a low voice.

"Why are there such ridiculous rumors? The mysterious man actually believed it?" Esther felt unbelievable.

"When people are obsessed with one thing, they tend to lose their minds. This is what everyone knows about the Shafiq family. People in our family are very perceptive, which makes them very sensitive to everything: thoughts, Emotions, even the soul. For centuries they used this ability to study those mysterious forces, until the Ministry of Magic created the Department of Mysteries and recruited the Shafik family to work for them.

"Although I haven't been there personally, people in the family know that there is a stone archway with hanging curtains. It is a place where they communicate with the dead. My grandfather told us when I was a child. In the beginning, the ancestors were just Listen to the whispers of the dead there to comfort the living.

Later, people lost their awe of life and death and began to use those special powers. It is said that a daughter of the Shafiq family once married a boy of the Peverell family. Both couples have powerful magic. From the veil they crafted a Resurrection Stone, out of the confines of the Arch, to awaken the undead to serve them whenever and wherever. But treating the undead with arrogance comes at a price. Under their influence, the couple became suspicious and gloomy. In the end, they committed suicide one after another and became a member of the undead, joining them.

Later, the family realized the serious consequences of abusing this power, and began to keep the knowledge gained strictly confidential. But the more confidential it is, the more people guess. So much so that in the end, there were rumors of people living forever. said Aunt Connie.

"But my name is Collins, and no one knows I'm Shafiq. And I don't know anything," Esther said.

"There are many magics to detect blood relationship. As long as the mysterious person thinks, there will always be a way to find you. He can force you to study for him again, anyway, the Department of Mysteries is there."

"But I don't think it's a good way to escape. As long as he is not eliminated, the threat will always be there. If so, it is better to actively resist, and there is still a chance of life." Esther said.

"You sent yourself to the door! You haven't experienced the horror of not knowing him. Hiding is the best choice. What about your quality as a Slytherin to judge the situation and protect yourself wisely?" Aunt Connie insisted.

"If everyone hides, he will only come faster, someone has to stand up and resist! Slytherin is not a coward!" Esther didn't know why he suddenly thought of Sirius.

"So you are determined to continue living as a wizard, and even risk your life to fight against the mysterious man?" Aunt Connie asked.

"If he doesn't come to trouble me, I won't defy him openly. But if trouble comes, I will never run away." Esther said firmly.

"Since you have decided," Aunt Connie became serious, "then please move out, just like your mother, and leave my place."

Esther was a little dazed by Aunt Connie's words, and didn't understand why she was kicked out, but it was obvious that Aunt Connie wasn't joking.

Aunt Connie continued: "You and I are the last two members of the Shafiq family. You are an adult, and I cannot force you to choose the same path as mine, but don't expect me to support your choice. You If you stay in the magic world, you will be targeted by mysterious people sooner or later. I will not take risks with you. If you decide to give up your identity as a witch, I welcome you back at any time. If you insist on fighting him, I can only wish you good luck. Here you are Give me the answer before school starts in a week."

In fact, no matter what Aunt Connie said, Esther would not give up Hogwarts and her identity as a witch. She has people she cares about, and most of these people can't stand with the mysterious person: Orion, Leona, Harry, Professor Lupine, and more importantly, Professor Snape. She had already accepted the fact that she liked Snape, and it didn't matter whether the other party liked her or not.She respected his feelings, not to mention that she seemed to have been sentenced to death by Aunt Connie, and it was no good to like herself.

Early in the morning of the first day of school, Esther baked a big cake for Aunt Connie. And filled a medicine cabinet with the commonly used potions prepared in the past few days. She is very grateful to her aunt for taking her in these years. She originally planned to take care of her aunt all the time, but now it seems impossible. She waited for a long time and Aunt Connie didn't come out of the house. It seemed that she didn't want to say goodbye to her face to face. She left a letter on the table, took a last look at the cozy house she called home, turned around and left No. 2 Magnolia Road dragging a box full of all her things.
