Chapter 31 Clarification

It was dinner time, and I didn't meet anyone along the way, but Professor Dumbledore still cast an invisibility spell on Black.Back in the headmaster's office, Dumbledore conjured up some chairs for everyone to sit down, and Black was also placed in the middle chair.Professor Dumbledore signaled Professor Snape to undo the spell on Black and wake him up.

Black jumped up as soon as he opened his eyes, and Professor Snape quickly drew out his wand and put it on his head, and the two stared at each other angrily and stood there.

"Snotling!" Blake snapped.

Esther drew her wand and pointed it at him, too.

"Sit down," said Dumbledore quietly, but with extra strength.Everyone went back to their seats and sat down, but Professor Snape's wand was still pointed at Black, and the hatred on his face deepened.

"Sirius, we want to hear from you what happened back then and the current situation." Professor Dumbledore said, looking directly at Black.

Black suddenly became quiet, as quiet as a dead man, "I killed James and Lily, there is nothing to say."

"He's admitted it himself, Headmaster, and I don't see any reason to wait," Snape said excitedly.

Dumbledore waved his hand lightly to keep him calm, then turned to Black and said, "Did you tell Voldemort the address of James' house yourself?"

Professor Snape moved unconsciously.

"No! I will never!" Black seemed to come back to life suddenly, even a little crazy, "I made a fatal mistake, I asked James to replace the secret keeper with Peter Pettigrew, and I thought the plan was perfect. Everyone thought I was the secret keeper, so I was the best bait. But I didn't expect, Peter Pettigrew turned to Voldemort! He betrayed them to Voldemort, and he faked his death while I was chasing him Escape. If I hadn't seen his picture in the newspaper, I would have thought he was dead!" After finishing this long line of speech, Blake paused for breath, as if he had just finished a fierce Quidditch match.

"Where did you see the picture?" Dumbledore asked after Black regained his composure.

Black took out a crumpled piece of paper and handed it to Dumbledore, "Fudge gave me a newspaper when he inspected Azkaban last year. I recognized him from the photo on the front page. He turned into a mouse." I am too familiar with the look, it is Weasley's pet mouse. But he is too cunning, when I went to Weasley's dormitory to catch him, he was no longer there." Black said.

"Why don't you come to me to explain the situation or ask for help?"

Blake was silent for a long time, "I just want to kill Peter! I don't care about anything, just let me kill him!" His eyes were red like a devil, "I deserve it, I deserve to go to hell. But I want to take Peter with me. "

"You should at least come to me," said Professor Lupine softly. "They're not your friends alone. Now that you know Peter is a spy, I'm cleared, aren't I?"

"Forgive me, Remus," Black said.

"Then forgive me for thinking you were a spy, old man, Padfoot?" Professor Lupine said gently.

Professor Snape snorted coldly, as if he had heard something that disgusted him.

"Then do you remember that they still have a child? Or can you be your tragic hero, your lonely avenger, and ignore the person who is the most cherished and precious to them, who is willing to sacrifice his life for it?" Esther's indifferent voice Sounded out of place. "It's really touching brotherhood. You can die for him, but you can't live for the children he left behind. As a friend of Harry, I just want to say, you are really irresponsible."

Esther's cold eyes responded to the angry Black, and there was a silence in the room.

"Esther, you are still young and haven't experienced many things. You shouldn't accuse Sirius like that." Lupine spoke first.

"You were not very old 12 years ago." Esther didn't give in at all. "You are old enough now, and you still want to die with Peter, don't you?"

"Do you expect any responsible behavior from a man who escaped Azkaban for twelve years?" Snape sneered.

"Snotlite, are you calling me a coward?" Black growled and rushed towards Snape.

Esther cast a silent confinement spell, and Black was bound and fell to the spot, his eyes fixed on Snape, as if he wanted to bite his neck off.

"Okay!" Professor Dumbledore glanced at everyone, and said, "The most urgent thing is to find Peter Pettigrew. You should put aside your old hatred and deal with the enemy together. Esther, let go of Sirius first."

Esther lifted his spell, and Black got up from the ground and sat back on the chair, but he and Snape were still staring at each other fiercely, their faces distorted with hatred.

"Sirius," continued Dumbledore, ignoring the two men who were staring at each other, "do you have any news about Peter Pettigrew?"

"It's a mouse with a broken finger, the one he cut off when he framed me," Black said contemptuously. "There's a big, smart ginger cat looking for him for me."

"It's Crookshanks," Esther took over, "Hermione Granger's cat, I saw you meet it in the Forbidden Forest."

"Is that why the cat climbed the tree? I didn't notice you, it's amazing." Black said depressingly.

Esther ignored Black and said to himself: "But Peter Pettigrew hasn't been found on the map yet."

"Probably as you said, he lives in a place that can't be shown on the map, in a mouse hole." Professor Lupine said.

"What map are you talking about? Can you show it to me, Remus?" said Professor Dumbledore gently.

Professor Lupine hesitated and said, "Okay." He got up and went back to get the map.

Soon Professor Lupine came back with the Marauder's Map, and there were densely packed dots moving on it.

"Brilliant," exclaimed Dumbledore, "what an amazing invention."

Professor Lupine coughed in embarrassment, and Black grinned stupidly, "I remember it was confiscated by Filch, and you asked for it back after you became a professor, Moonface?"

"No, I don't know how it got into Harry's hands," Lupine said with a quick look at Snape, who was sullen and silent. "I confiscated it from Harry."

Black said dissatisfiedly, "Oh, Moonface, you shouldn't have stopped him from exploring Hogwarts."

"Yeah, waking up in the middle of the night to look for Peter Pettigrew is still a good practical lesson in Defense Against the Dark Arts." Esther said sarcastically.

Black's sallow face paled even more, and he gave Esther a hard look, then at Snape and said, "The way you talk reminds me of a snotlover."

"That's my honor." Esther blushed slightly, "But please pay attention to respect our dean, otherwise I'm not sure I can control my wand."

"Found it." Dumbledore said in a very soft voice, but it was like a thunder that made everyone in the room quiet, watching him nervously, waiting for what he would say next.

"He's in the auditorium now, so it's easy to collect information and easy to hide. It's really not easy to find him among so many names."

Sirius stood up and was about to go out. Lupine grabbed him and said, "Not now! Everyone is eating in the auditorium. If you go in so rashly, everyone will attack you, and Peter will take advantage of the chaos to escape. Wait a minute." , we have the Marauder's Map, he can't escape."

"Remus is right, we need to wait a little longer. Why don't we have dinner together first? Everyone must be hungry." Dumbledore said with a smile.

Black turned into a big black dog again, and the professors passed through the faculty passage, and Esther went downstairs alone and entered the auditorium from the foyer.

Orion waved at Esther, "Where have you been? Hagrid detained you?" he said jokingly.

"I'm going to the Forbidden Forest." Esther blinked mischievously, and took a piece of pie for herself.

"It's really you. You still go to the Forbidden Forest when it's in such a mess. Don't tell Leona, or she will go too." Orion warned her.

Esther nodded, thinking about how to deal with Peter Pettigrew for a while.

After the meal, the students and staff left the auditorium one after another. Esther asked Orion to go back first by saying that he had something to do with Professor Snape.Harry was also leaving the auditorium, but was stopped by Professor McGonagall. He and Ron sat alone on the long table, looking a little confused.Hermione came back a moment later, crouching with her big ginger cat, Crookshanks.

Dumbledore gathered everyone together, and Black, who had turned into a black dog, came out from behind the staff.Harry poked Ron eagerly, motioning him to look at the big dog.Hermione said triumphantly, "Look like I said, there's nothing 'ominous', those are just coincidences."

"I didn't expect this to be a Hogwarts dog, why didn't I see it before." Harry whispered to Esther.

"Uh, it's actually different from what you think." Esther said in a low voice, wondering if it's appropriate to tell him that this is Sirius Black now.

Fortunately, Dumbledore interrupted their conversation, allowing Esther to breathe a sigh of relief. "Everyone, I saw that we were going to find the old man and left the castle just now, we have to hurry up."

Dumbledore led them out through the gate, looking at the parchment in his hand as he walked.

"I won't escape into the Forbidden Forest." Esther said anxiously.

Blake snorted disdainfully.Lupine looked at him and smiled. "He dare not. The Forbidden Forest is too dangerous for him. He won't go to the Forbidden Forest unless he has to."

Harry looked at Esther in bewilderment, hoping she would explain to him.Esther listened intently to what was going on around her, not noticing Harry's suggestive look.

Finally they stopped in front of Hagrid's cabin, and Buckbeak watched them curiously. "It seems we have found it," said Dumbledore happily. He went up and knocked on the door.

The door creaked open, and the afterglow of the setting sun shone on Hagrid's tall body. He looked at the group of people at the door in bewilderment and said, "Good evening, Professor Dumbledore. Good evening, all of you. What's the matter?"

Before Dumbledore could speak, Crookshanks rolled out of Hermione's arms and went into the room, Fang Fang whining.Hermione hurried in.Dumbledore motioned for everyone to fence the house, ready for any rats that might come out.

There was a bang in the room as if a pot had been overturned. "Bad kitty!" Hermione yelled. Then there were more crashing sounds, and Fang Ya's barking became louder.

"Ron! It's Scabbers!" Hermione exclaimed, "It's running for the door!"

Ron was about to go in when he heard the sound, when suddenly a dozen or so mice came out of the door or the crack in the wall and ran in all directions.

Lupine and Professor Snape were quick to stop two of them, and Black also rushed towards one.But neither seems to be Peter.Esther retreated to the back of the room and turned into a bat while no one was paying attention to her.She shouted to the bats that were preying not far away: "Can you do me a favor? Help me stop these rats?"

"You are Stone's friend, it seems that I have seen you at the Halloween party." A big bat said.

"Yeah, help me, they are going to run away." Esther said anxiously.

The big bat circled the group of bats, and then all the bats swooped down. They rushed towards the mouse one by one and flew up again, and the mice were quickly driven together.

"No Scabbers," said Ron to everyone. "Hermione, are you sure you saw Scabbers?"

Hermione hugged the struggling Crookshanks with difficulty and said, "I'm sure it's gotten thinner, but I'm sure it's Scabbers."

The cunning guy must still be hiding in Hagrid's house, Esther thought. It drove other mice out to die for him, and if it continued to hide itself, no one would doubt it.

Esther flew into the house and listened carefully while hanging upside down on the roof. She heard some panting sounds in a jar, and she looked for the sound, but the jar was so dark that she couldn't see clearly.Esther flew down and threw the can over.

With a squeak, a mouse fell out of it and turned somersaults. It quickly adjusted its posture and rushed out of the door. Esther followed closely and landed on him, holding him tightly with the front paws on the wing membrane.Peter turned his head to Esther, showing his sharp front teeth and was about to bite them down.Esther let go of Peter and rolled to the ground. Then a huge hand grabbed Peter's tail in front of her eyes, and Esther breathed a sigh of relief.

It was very difficult for the bat that landed to take off. If it wasn't for the fear of letting Peter run away, Esther would not want to take the risk of falling. She spread her wings and tried to flap a few times, which was much more strenuous than flying in the sky, but fortunately it worked. She crookedly left the ground and was about to fly when a ginger-colored shadow swooped over from the side, its sharp claws scratched from her shoulders to her back, and she felt a stream of warm liquid flow out.

"Keep an eye on your cat, Miss Granger." It was Professor Snape's irritable voice.

Esther felt that she was picked up from the ground by a pair of warm hands, and a healing spell penetrated into her body.Esther was afraid that others would find out that he was an Animagus, so he wanted to leave quickly. But the severe pain caused by flapping her wings made her break out in a cold sweat.

"Stay still!" Snape said angrily, repeating the spell. "I'll take you back after dealing with that mouse in a while, don't let the wound open again."

Esther obediently lay on Snape's hand, watching Peter, who was struggling to twist in the air, stopped moving.

Professor Lupine cast a spell on the mouse with his wand, and a blue light hit Peter. "What are you doing to my mouse?" Ron yelled, trying to run over, but was pulled back by Harry and Hermione.Blake barked.

In a blinding flash, the mouse, which was about Esther's age, swelled up, a head and limbs emerged, and finally turned into a small, cowering man.

"Merlin!" said Ron in surprise, "Who are you?"

"Long time no see, Peter." Professor Lupine said happily.

"R-Remus, my old friend," said Peter in a thin voice, his eyes darting here and there, "and Professor Dumbledore... so many people..."

"Peter, we heard some news that you are the last secret keeper of James and Lily." Professor Lupine asked casually, but a cold light was already shining in his eyes.Harry tensed up.

"Framed! Remus, it's a framed!" Peter screamed. "We all know that Sirius betrayed James and Lily."

"You bullshit!" Blake snarled at Peter Pettigret, suddenly back in human form, like he was still a big dog.

"Black! It's Black!" Ron and Hermione exclaimed suddenly.Harry jerked his wand out and pointed at Sirius, trembling all over.Hagrid looked bewildered.

"Calm down, Harry, calm down." Lupine held Sirius in one hand and Harry in the other. "The information we got was a bit wrong, and now we have to clarify a little point."

"He's here to kill me, Remus." Peter continued to scream, "Help me! I knew he would come back. I hid for 12 years, just because I was afraid he would come and kill me again!"

"Hiding me?" Black said. "You're hiding from Voldemort's old men. I heard something in Azkaban. Peter... they thought you were dead, or they'd make you confess... I I heard them yelling all kinds of things in my dream, and I seem to think that the liar betrayed them. Voldemort went to Potter's house according to your information... Voldemort was defeated there. Not all of Voldemort's subordinates entered Azka Isn't Ben? There's a lot more out there, biding their time, pretending to be reformed...if they knew you were alive...Peter—"

Esther felt that the hand holding her tightened, and she rubbed her head against the palm of her hand, hoping that he would let her go a little bit.

"No—I don't understand what you're talking about." Pettigrew continued to struggle.

"Albus, I'm coming to Hogsmeade to check on the situation." Fudge, the Minister of Magic, walked towards them cheerfully, followed by two capable wizards, "I wish I could hear some good news. Already I haven't heard any good news for a long time."

Seeing the Ministry of Magic, Lupine quietly put Sirius behind him.

"Connelly, you came just in time. The situation has changed." Dumbledore went up to meet him. "I think you should meet someone first."

"Peter Pettigrew?" said Fudge in surprise. "My God, we thought you were dead. We didn't expect you to be alive! You should have shown up sooner, you don't know how upset your mother was when she received your wreckage."

"It's not what you think, Connelly," said Dumbledore. "I think Peter will make himself clear." His stern gaze made Pettigrew shiver. "I'm sure we won't need Veritaserum, Is it right?"

Peter wailed as if he had received the final verdict, "No... please believe me, the mysterious man forced me, and he threatened to kill me."

"Don't talk nonsense!" Black roared from behind Lupin.

Fudge and his entourage were so frightened that they drew their wands at him and were stopped by Dumbledore.

"Sirius Black? Dumbledore, what are you doing? Why is this fugitive with you?" Fudge exclaimed.

But Sirius didn't pay attention to Fudge at all. He stared at Peter, "You gave Voldemort information for a year before Lily and James were killed! You are his spy!"

Peter was pushed back. "He—he's got power everywhere, and what's the—what's the use of defying him?"

"What's the use of fighting the world's most evil wizard?" Black raged. "Just to save some innocent lives, Peter!"

"But he will kill me!" Peter screamed in despair, "Save them, and I will die!"

"Then you should die!" Blake snarled and strangled Peter's neck with all his strength, "I would rather die than betray my friend, and we will do it for you!"

"And you should have thought," said Lupine softly, raising his wand to Peter, "that if Voldemort doesn't kill you, we will. Farewell, Peter."

"You can't in my face..." cried Fudge weakly.

"No!" Harry stood in front of Professor Lupine, and pulled Sirius' hand away forcefully, "You can't kill him!" He said out of breath, "Papa won't want you to become murderers for this kind of person, let the magic Take him away at all, or give him to the dementors, you can't kill him anyway!"

No one moved or spoke, only Peter gasping with a cough.

"It seems that the problem is clear," Dumbledore looked at Harry with satisfaction, and turned to Fudge, "I think you can take Peter Pettigrew away, and please restore Sirius' reputation as soon as possible."

Fudge, still in shock, signaled to the two wizards behind him to grab Peter.

Just then the last rays of light faded from the sky and the light of the moon emerged from behind the clouds.Lupine froze suddenly, and then his limbs began to tremble.

"Didn't you give him the potion today, Severus?" There was a hint of urgency in Dumbledore's voice.

"When he went to my office to get the potion, Collins' Patronus came to pass word that Black had been found, and I left in a hurry. I'm not sure if he drank it." Snape also became nervous.

"Quick! Get out of here, away from here." Dumbledore suddenly pushed Harry away, and pushed back himself.

But it was too late, Lupine elongated, grew hair, and transformed into a real werewolf.Sirius quickly turned into a big black dog, trying to pounce on the werewolf and bite each other with him.

Dumbledore also waved his wand to control the werewolf, but it was extremely difficult to control him without hurting him.He shook off the big black dog, broke away from Dumbledore's spell, and lunged at the three of Harry.

Professor Snape stood in front of Harry decisively and sent a rope to the werewolf to strangle him around his neck, but the werewolf's claws had already swung over, throwing Snape and Harry behind him to the ground.Esther gritted her teeth and flew up before Snape fell to the ground, the wound she pulled was as painful as a needle. But she didn't have time to take care of her injuries, and when the werewolf got rid of the shackles around his neck and was about to attack Snape again, she flew right in front of the werewolf and threw himself down fiercely.

The werewolf was enraged by her behavior, and frantically waved his upper limbs to grab her.She fluttered awkwardly, narrowly avoiding the two claws of the werewolf.

Esther stumbled forward without looking in the direction, and suddenly she was startled by the eagle mouth in front of her.Esther tried her best to fly sideways past the eagle's beak, and looked back to see the werewolf's sharp claws rushing towards him, snapping off the post that tied Buckbeak.

"Quickly, grab that hippogriff, it's going to be executed!" cried Fudge in a panic, but no one but the two he had brought with him tried.Hagrid even made what sounded like a cheer.Buckbeak broke free and flapped his huge wings at the werewolf. The werewolf was so frightened that he backed up and ran into the Forbidden Forest. Black turned into a black dog followed closely, and Buckbeak also flew over the Forbidden Forest and disappeared.

"Peter Pettigrew is gone!" Harry yelled angrily.

"How do I explain this to the public...I shut up Sirius by mistake for 12 years, let Peter Pettigrew escape, and didn't even catch the beast that was about to be executed..."

"Perhaps it's still too late to send someone to search the sky quickly. In addition, we must inform everyone to be careful of mice." Dumbledore's eyes were particularly bright.
