Harry Potter and the Way of Reason

Chapter 44: Humanism, Part 2

"Fawkes," said Albus Dumbledore hoarsely, "please help him—"

A dazzling red-and-gold creature came into view, looking down suspiciously; then it began to chant under its breath.

The meaningless birdsong slipped into nothingness, where there was nothing to cling to.

"You're so loud," said the voice, "you're going to die."

"Chocolate," said Albus Dumbledore, "you need chocolate, and your friends - but I dare not take you back like this -"

A shimmering crow swooped in and spoke something in Professor Flitwick's voice; Albus Dumbledore gasped and cursed loudly at his own stupidity.

The hollow thing laughed at this, because it still retained the ability to laugh.

Then they disappeared together into another flame.

-------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------

Not long after Professor Flitwick's crow flew away, Albus Dumbledore reappeared in a golden-red flame with Harry in his arms.In just a few moments, Hermione's hands were already full of chocolates.

Before Hermione could run over, a bar of chocolate flew off the table and rushed straight into Harry's mouth. It made a small part of Hermione's mind feel unfair: he'd had the chance to feed her chocolate, but she—

Harry spat out the chocolate.

"Go away." The voice was so hollow it wasn't even cruel.

……

Everything seemed to be frozen.Everyone who was rushing towards Harry stopped, their movements interrupted by the two dead words.

At this point, "No," said Albus Dumbledore, "I won't." Then time began to flow again, and another bar of chocolate flew off the table and into Harry's mouth.

Hermione was close enough to Harry to see Harry chewing the chocolate in an unnatural mechanical rhythm, the expression of hatred deepening on his face.

The headmaster said in a steely voice, "Filius, tell Minerva that she must come as soon as possible."

Professor Flitwick whispered something to his silver crow, and the bird flew up and disappeared.

Another bar of chocolate floated into Harry's mouth, and he continued to chew mechanically.

The Headmaster watched Harry sternly, and more students gathered: Neville, Seamus, Dean, Lavender, Ernie, Terry, Anthony. But none of them dared to get as close as Hermione did.

"What can we do?" Dean said in a trembling voice.

"Stand back and give him more space—" said Professor Quirrell in a dry voice.

"No!" interrupted the Headmaster. "Let him be surrounded by his friends."

Harry swallowed the chocolate and said in a hollow voice, "They're stupid. They're going to die ehmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, they're so stupid,'" another bar burst into his mouth.

Hermione saw the shocked looks on the faces of her classmates.

"He didn't mean that, did he?" Seamus said beggingly.

"You don't understand," Hermione's voice cracked, "that's not Harry—" Then she stopped before saying more, but she had to say this much.

From the expressions on her classmates, Hermione knew Neville understood, but the others didn't.They were probably thinking that if Harry really never thought of such a thing, then less than a minute of exposure to the dementor would not make him say such a thing.

Exposure to a dementor for less than 1 minute does not create an evil personality out of nothing.

But if that personality already exists—

Does the principal know about this?

Hermione looked over to the headmaster and saw Albus Dumbledore looking at her, his blue eyes sharpening suddenly—

There was a voice in her head.

Don't say it, Dumbledore's will said to her.

You know, thought Hermione.his dark side.

I know. But the situation is much more serious now. He's lost in depths that even Fox's singing can't touch.

what can we do-

I have a plan, said the message from the principal.Wait patiently.

There was something in the tone of the thought that made Hermione nervous.what kind of plan?

You better not know. The headmaster sent.

Now Hermione was really getting nervous. She wondered how much the headmaster knew about Harry's dark side—

Makes sense, the Headmaster sent.I'll tell you, stay calm and don't react.are you ready?very good.I'll pretend to cast the Killing Curse on Professor McGonagall - don't react, Hermione!

This is no easy task. The principal is indeed crazy! It's not going to bring Harry out of his dark side, instead Harry goes into a complete rage and he kills the Headmaster—

But it wasn't total darkness, Albus Dumbledore sent. That's protectiveness, that's love. That way Fox would have access to him.And then when Harry found out Minerva was alive after all, he was able to bring him back completely.

Hermione suddenly had an idea——

I doubt it will work, the headmaster sent, and if you try, you probably won't like his reaction. But if you want to do it, you can try it.

She is not serious!It's too—

Then she looked away, broke off the exchange with the headmaster, and turned to the boy; he was looking around with empty, hopeless eyes, eating chocolate after chocolate, with no improvement. Her heart was pounding, and for a moment many things seemed unimportant, except for that glimmer of hope.

-------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------

He was forced to chew and swallow chocolate. The response to coercion is to kill.

People surrounded and stared.so annoying. The answer to harassment is to kill.

The rest muttered behind their backs. How rude. The response to rudeness is pain. But since these people are of no use, it would be easier to kill them.

It is difficult to kill all these people. But many of them don't trust Quirrell, a strong man.Find the right trigger and they can kill each other.

At this time, a person leaned into the field of vision and did a very strange thing, something that belonged to the heterogeneous thinking mode.Stored somewhere is the only reaction to the matter—

-------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------

She heard gasps from the crowd around her, but they weren't important. She kept kissing those chocolate-stained lips, tears in her eyes.

Then Harry raised his hands and pushed her away, shouting, "I told you, no kissing!"

-------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------

"I think he's all right," said the Headmaster, seeing Harry wailing amid Fawkes' chants. "Nice job, Miss Granger. You know, even I didn't expect it to work?"

The phoenix song wasn't for her, and Hermione knew that. But she still finds comfort in singing. She needs it now because her life is officially over.
