[HP] Riddle's Spirit Behind
Chapter 047 Purposeful
After coming out of the Duke of Bees, they went to Zoko's joke shop again.Eleanor's eyes were drawn to a row of bottles filled with green slime.
"Super sticky phlegm," reads the sign above, "sticks so strongly to your enemy's clothing that a fresh clean won't do the trick!"
"Disgusting," remarked Cloures. "Let's go. There's nothing but dung in here. Well-bred girls don't come here, don't you, Tom?"
"Yes, I think so too," replied Tom casually. He seemed to be slowly losing his patience as he began tapping his index finger on the glass counter repeatedly while pursing his lips slightly.
Saoirse stood there motionless as if her soles were stuck to the floor. She stared intently at the clump of plush fluff that was crowded around in the basket. The little things are all round and fluffy, and they look very cute.
"Do you want this, Saoirse?" Eleanor asked.
Saoirse blushed and nodded slightly.
"Oh, no, I hate living things." Cloures immediately overreacted and squealed. "Who knows what parasites they have on them, I won't buy them for you!"
Cloris' words caught the attention of a nearby clerk. He said in a rough voice with displeasure: "Our cattails are all grown in the family, and there are no parasites."
"Even if there are no parasites, who knows if they will spread infectious diseases?" Cloris said with a snort.
"Everyone knows that cattails don't transmit infectious diseases!" said the clerk angrily. "Haven't you read, miss?"
"You—" Cloris was so angry that she trembled all over. She pointed at the clerk and held back for a long time before she could come up with a curse word, "You mossy potato!"
Eleanor looked at the clerk. He had brown skin and short, thorn-like hair with light green highlights.Eleanor couldn't help covering her mouth and giggling.Saoirse shook her shoulders and seemed to be snickering.
"Excellent metaphor." Eleanor gave Cloris a thumbs up.
The clerk stared at them, the corners of his eyes seemed a little moist.
Cloris showed a strange expression of suppressed laughter. The corners of her mouth trembled a few times, and then she snorted coldly, "Even if I don't infect the disease, I wouldn't pay for your things, Mr. Moss."
The clerk turned and walked away quickly.Eleanor was sure she heard a choke.
Saoirse looked reluctantly at the plush fluff.
"Let's go, Saoirse, at worst we'll buy it next time." Cloris tugged at her sister's arm dissatisfied.
"It won't happen until I'm in the third grade." Saoirse muttered aggrievedly, but she followed Cloris obediently and left.
After walking out of the store, they suddenly found that Tom hadn't come out with them.
"Where's Tom?" Cloris asked, looking around.
"Maybe still in that store." Eleanor guessed.
While they were talking, Tom opened the door and came out.He strode up to Saoirse, then bent down and spread his palms.
A green velvet rolled happily in his palm.
"This is for you, Saoirse," he said softly.
"Oh, Tom!" said Cloures with wide-eyed surprise. "You don't need to buy it for her!"
"Hold it," Tom whispered.
Saoirse carefully took the plush from Tom's hand, her cheeks were so red that she was about to bleed, "...Thank you."
Cloris seemed very moved. She covered her mouth, but said more loudly, "Thank you too, Tom. Now she won't be yelling at me for it again."
"You're welcome," said Tom, smiling.
Eleanor couldn't describe how she felt when she saw this scene. She had never seen Tom treat anyone so kindly.
—unless it is purposeful.
But what can an 11-year-old girl bring him?Eleanor thought to herself mockingly. She preferred to believe that Tom just liked Saoirse.
Perhaps, as Abraxas said, Tom is indeed different from before, but it is not developing in a bad way.He might really be getting more human, Eleanor thought, staring at Tom in profile.
"So where do we go next?" Tom asked casually. His hands crossed behind him were tapping the back of his hands with his index fingers, showing that he was still in some kind of irritability.
"I haven't figured it out yet," said Cloures, "by the way, we can go to the Three Broomsticks and have a cold drink—"
"Clauris." Tom interrupted Cloris suddenly and abruptly.
The three girls immediately looked at him at the same time.
Tom narrowed his eyes slightly, with a slight smile on his face, "I remember you said that you are going to see your uncle today."
"Oh, yes!" said Cloures suddenly, "I'm so sorry, Tom, I forgot to tell you. I just got a letter from him this morning. He's going to investigate a haunting in a Muggle castle. Today Probably won’t be able to come back.”
"Really?" said Tom quietly.
Eleanor saw his hands behind him clenched suddenly, even the joints turned white. And his lips pursed inadvertently.
He is angry.thought Eleanor.
Connected with Tom's previous actions, Eleanor felt that she suddenly understood something.
"It suddenly occurred to me that there were other things to do." Tom said blankly, and he quickly squeezed out a standard smile. "I hope you have a good time."
On the way to the Shrieking Shack, Eleanor pretended to be casual and asked, "It sounds like that uncle of yours is very knowledgeable about ghosts?"
"Yes," Cloures replied, "he knows a lot about spirits and things like that. He's written several books on spirits and ghosts, and he's good at banishing unwanted ghosts, and even Invented magical containers that temporarily imprisoned ghosts—God knows how he did it."
"My dad is amazing," Saoirse whispered.
"Wait, you said he was good at dealing with ghosts?" Eleanor said with wide eyes.
"That's right." Cloris glanced at her and sneered mockingly, "But don't worry, my uncle is only interested in ghosts that can touch things, and he didn't think about banishing you. And banishing A ghost isn't that easy either, it takes a lot of preparation—"
Cloris didn't finish her sentence because she noticed that Eleanor had stopped.
"You mean, you want Tom to invite me?" Eleanor said bluntly, "Just to meet Saoirse's father?"
"Yeah," Cloures looked at her in surprise, "didn't Tom tell you?"
"Of course not." Eleanor said angrily, "I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in being studied as a rarity!"
She turned around and left without saying that.
