[HP] Riddle's Spirit Behind
Chapter 045 The quarrel
When Eleanor opened her eyes, the moonlight shone on her through the gaps in the branches. She looked at the mottled shadows on the ground in confusion, thinking, what time is it now?
She floated up, looked up at the moon in the black sky and the silver-white starry sky.The moon happened to be covered by a floating cloud, and everything around seemed to become more silent, except for the sound of birds jumping in the treetops.
She suddenly heard crisp footsteps stepping on fallen leaves behind her.She turned her head and saw a figure approaching herself through the faint light. With his hands in his pockets, he walked slowly, and finally stopped by a tree not far from Eleanor.
"Who is it?" Eleanor asked.
The man was leaning against a tree, his face hidden in the shadows. He whispered slightly hoarsely: "What are you doing here?"
"Tom!" cried Eleanor in surprise.
At this time, the moon poked its head out from behind the floating clouds and fell on the boy's young and handsome face.A refreshing breeze is blowing from the lake. His expression was calm and comfortable, and his eyes were not looking at Eleanor, but at the lake in the distance.
"Has the curfew time passed?" Eleanor asked, "Why did you come out?"
"I sneaked out," Tom answered, and added softly, "...I couldn't sleep."
"Oh." Eleanor looked at his expression suspiciously, and suddenly said half-jokingly, "You didn't come here to find me, did you?"
But Tom said dryly, "Of course not. Who'd know you were here?"
Eleanor shrugged, "That's true." She looked away from Tom and looked at the black lake. After a while, she suddenly said, "What do you think is in this lake?"
"I don't know," Tom whispered, and he gave a short laugh. "Maybe there's a mermaid?"
"Or some other monster." Eleanor stared at the lake and suddenly felt that a monster with tentacles would really jump out of the lake in the next second.
From the Forbidden Forest not far away, along with the howling of the wind passing through the forest, the howling of unknown beasts came faintly.
She shivered slightly, thinking it was time to go back.
"I think we'd better go back," she said.
"Go ahead," said Tom coldly, glancing at her.
Eleanor walked a short distance in the direction of the castle, suddenly turned around with a sigh, and said, "Hey, how long are you going to stay here?"
"...be back soon," said Tom softly.
After a while Tom felt a cold hand on his shoulder. He trembled immediately, raised his head suddenly, and saw the ghost standing behind him and looking at him with a smile. So he blurted out: "Damn, what are you doing?"
"You thought I had already gone back, didn't you?" Eleanor said in an unusually gentle voice, and then suddenly grinned, "Haha, do you feel very touched?"
Tom took a step aside calmly, out of Eleanor's hand.He didn't refute Eleanor's words, which made Eleanor very satisfied.
Leaning against the tree behind Tom, she talked to Tom without saying a word.
"Yesterday, someone put a centipede in Hannah's clothes and she passed out," she said.
"..."
Tom didn't respond.
"...I heard that someone was eaten by an octopus in the lake a few years ago, do you know about that?" she added.
Tom still didn't respond.
"It is said that there are werewolves in the Forbidden Forest. They like to eat human flesh, especially the flesh of children..." she whispered again.
As if to create an atmosphere for her words, a howl of a beast came faintly from the Forbidden Forest again.
Tom still didn't say a word, he began to frown slightly dissatisfied, but he didn't seem to be frightened by Eleanor's words at all.
Instead, Eleanor was made uncomfortable by her own words. She shook her head to drive those horrible things out of her mind.
She decided to change the subject.
"Why do you hang out with those people, Tom?" she whispered. "You don't like them, I know."
Tom finally reacted. He sneered, "What do you know?"
"You never talked to those people before!" replied Eleanor, "You once said you hated Lestrange!" "
"Obviously, I don't dislike them at all now," said Tom in a monotonous voice. "They're my friends now."
He deliberately bit the word "friend" very strongly, as if he was deliberately emphasizing this point.
"But they're just a bunch of arrogant bastards," said Eleanor in amazement. "You won't like them. They're nothing like you!"
Tom looked up, but there was no sullen expression on his face, but he looked at her with a mocking look, as if to say that she didn't understand anything at all.
"You're wrong," he said softly.
"How was I wrong?" said Eleanor angrily.
"I'm more like them than you think," said Tom flatly, as if addressing a purely philosophical question. "We shared a lot of secrets, and in many cases, I and They're better off talking."
"It seems that you are happier when you are with them?" Eleanor crossed her arms and said coldly.
"Yes, that's what it is," said Tom without hesitation.
"Well, pretend I didn't say what I just said!" Eleanor said angrily, "Fortunately, I have always regarded you as a friend. It turns out that you have long wanted to be with those guys!"
"As a friend?" Tom sneered sarcastically. "Aren't you kidding me? I remember you saying you thought I killed you—"
Eleanor didn't expect Tom to mention this matter at this time, and she immediately widened her eyes with anger.
"—do you like to be friends with the murderer who killed you?" Tom put away his smile and said coldly, "put away your simple delusion and—false sympathy."
Leaving those words behind, he turned around and strode towards the castle.
Looking at his back, Eleanor almost exploded with anger.
"I'll never say a word to you again!" she cried angrily. "To hell, Tom Riddle!"
