[HP] Riddle's Spirit Behind

Chapter 041 Mysterious Ring

Eleanor and Tom stared at each other for a few seconds.

"You—" Tom opened his mouth.

At this time, a familiar voice behind them said: "Thank God, you are all right."

They turned to see Dumbledore walking towards them.

Dumbledore didn't notice Eleanor's strangeness.Immediately afterwards they returned to Hogwarts from the fireplace.

"Go back to the common room." Dumbledore said to them wearily, "I still have some things to attend to." After he finished speaking, he left from the fireplace again.

Tom walked into the bedroom and closed the door behind him.

"Hey, you're back!" Avery jumped out of bed, "I heard there was an accident at the Ministry of Magic, are you all right—"

But Tom ignored him, and sat on the bed and ordered Eleanor: "Take it out."

Eleanor spread out her palm, revealing the black gemstone ring in her palm.

"What is this?" Avery leaned over to look at the ring carefully, he suddenly came back to his senses, and looked at Eleanor in surprise, "Merlin's beard—you can touch something?"

"I don't know what it is," Eleanor said.

Avery stretched out his hand cautiously and touched Eleanor's palm, but went straight through.

Eleanor raised her other hand and put it on Avery's shoulder. The cold touch made him smart, and quickly shook off Eleanor's palm.

"Looks like you've got to touch something," said Tom, narrowing his eyes.

"So, the time in the bathroom was also because of this..." Eleanor looked down at her hands and murmured.

She clearly felt the scorching heat from Avery just now through the fabric. She had almost forgotten how warm the human body was.

"Is it the ring?" Avery asked. "Where did you get the ring?"

"Found it in my swaddling baby," said Tom, keeping his eyes fixed on the poorly made ring. "I always thought it was from my mother."

Eleanor's fingers touched the black gem lightly.

"It's not cold," she said softly, "it's kind of warm...like it's radiating some kind of energy."

"It's just weird," Avery said. "It's definitely not an ordinary ring."

"Of course," said Tom dryly.

"It may be some treasure inherited from the Slytherin family." Eleanor said with interest, "Look here--something seems to be engraved here?"

Avery observed carefully for a long time, "I seem to have seen this sign somewhere." He thought hard for a long time, and finally said bitterly: "I don't remember."

Tom held out his hand to Eleanor. "Give it back to me now."

Eleanor hesitated, then tightened her grip on the ring. "No." Seeing Tom's face darken rapidly, she added, "Let me keep it for a while, please. I want to know what it is What did it do to me."

Anyway, he couldn't come and grab her, because he couldn't touch her at all.She thought wickedly.

To her surprise, Tom didn't get angry, but said coldly: "Then you can keep it."

"Oh, thank you!" said Eleanor cheerfully, and she went up mischievously and put her arms around Tom's head tightly. "You are such a good boy, Tom!"

Tom buried himself in Eleanor's chest, making a suffocating sound. He tried hard to push Eleanor away, his cheeks flushed slightly with anger.

Eleanor clearly felt the temperature on the boy's body. She has lost her sense of touch for over two years, and just the simple touch of it gives her great pleasure.

So she let go of Tom quickly, then turned and gave Avery a big hug.

"And you too," she said cheerfully, "you're a good boy, Avery! I like you!"

Avery protested, blushing much more than Tom did.

Eleanor was secretly moved to the point of crying. For the first time, she felt that the hug between people could be so warm.

She looked at Avery whose face was about to turn purple, and suddenly lowered her head mischievously and kissed him on the cheek.

Avery let out a scream, and took a few steps back while clutching his cheeks, as if what he just got was not a kiss but a powerful burning spell.

Tom snorted with a sneer, and said, "Don't be silly again, Eleanor." He got up, and strode toward the door.

"Where are you going?" Eleanor asked.

But Tom left the bedroom without looking back.

Eleanor watched Tom's back until he closed the bedroom door.

It took a few seconds for her to recover suddenly, and by the time she opened the door and walked out, Tom had disappeared.

In the evening, warm orange sunlight streams in through the windows.Eleanor closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of the sun penetrating her body.

After a while, she opened her eyes and looked at the sparkling lake shore in the distance.Suddenly she realized that she was free. The ring was hung around her neck, close to the skin of her chest, and she could vaguely feel the temperature on it.

Suddenly, a voice sounded from behind her, "Eleanor?"

She turned and saw Professor Dumbledore standing behind her.He raised his eyebrows in surprise, "Are you alone? What happened?"

"To be honest, I don't know what's going on." Eleanor replied with a sigh, "I was thinking, maybe you can help me explain it, Professor."

Dumbledore blinked, "Okay, my office is near here, would you like to come over?"

"……certainly."

Eleanor stood at Dumbledore's desk and looked around the room. The bookcase in the corner was full of heavy and large books, and in the closet were some very beautiful tea sets and several jars full of colorful candies.

Dumbledore was making tea, and the aroma of black tea immediately filled the room.

He watched Eleanor sit down on the chair from the corner of his eye, and suddenly opened his eyes slightly.

"Yes, I can touch things now," Eleanor said, noticing his gaze. Then she pulled the ring from her neck, "I can only touch things when I touch the gemstone on this ring."

Dumbledore showed an expression of undisguised surprise. He held out a hand to Eleanor, "Can you lend me a look?"

Eleanor stood up and put the ring in his palm.

Dumbledore looked at the ring carefully, his fingertips stroking the notch on the gemstone.

"It's amazing." He couldn't help but whisper.

"What did you find?" Eleanor asked.

Dumbledore put the ring on the table, crossed his fingers and fell into thought.

Eleanor didn't bother him, but waited quietly. After a full minute, Dumbledore said: "I guess, this ring should be obtained from Tom."

"Yes, that's right," Eleanor replied.

"That's unbelievable," said Dumbledore, frowning. "If I'm right, it's probably—"

Dumbledore's words stopped abruptly, and he stood up abruptly from his chair.

"I need to look into something," he muttered, standing up and pulling a book from the bookcase and flipping through it.

Soon, he turned around and placed the thick book heavily on the table and spread it out.

Eleanor recognized the pattern drawn on the book at a glance. It is exactly the same as the notch on the ring.

"It is considered by many to be the coat of arms of the Peverell family," said Dumbledore, "but few people know that it is actually the symbol of the Deathly Hallows."

"Deathly Hallows?"

"The Deathly Hallows is an ancient legend among wizards. It is said to be composed of three things. They are the Elder Wand, the Invisibility Cloak—and, the Resurrection Stone."

Dumbledore said, and picked up the ring again.

“Some say the resurrection stone can bring the dead back to life,” he said, “others say that the resurrection stone can make ghosts walk like the living.”

Eleanor stared at the black gemstone on the ring, and suddenly understood what Dumbledore wanted to say.

"You mean—this stone is the resurrection stone?"

"It's possible, but I'm not [-]% sure." Dumbledore replied.

Eleanor stared blankly at the resurrection stone for a few seconds, "But it can't really resurrect people, can it?"

Dumbledore didn't answer. He put the ring on the table, pushed it towards Eleanor, and said calmly: "Take it back, Eleanor. It is more suitable for you to hold it than to be held by a living person."

Eleanor picked up the ring and put it back on her neck again.

"It may change your fate." Dumbledore said with a sudden sigh, "It is often said that the Resurrection Stone can only bring bad luck to people... However, no one can tell what will happen in the future, can they? "

After he finished speaking, he crossed his fingers again and fell into deep thought.
