[HP] Riddle's Spirit Behind

Chapter 023 Leaving Hogwarts

Soon, the day of final exams approached.

Although he promised to help Avery pass the transfiguration exam, Tom didn't show much enthusiasm for that matter.

Occasionally, though, he would go over Avery's paper and point out the errors sternly.

"If I were Dumbledore, I'd give you a D (poor) for this paper." Tom said relentlessly, "You've got even the most basic knowledge wrong."

Avery was so shocked that he lay down on the table in frustration, "I just said that I will definitely not pass the exam."

Tom threw his Transfiguration textbook across the table to him, and said coldly, "Recite all the places I marked."

Avery quickly took the textbook with a grateful expression.

On the day of the exam, in order to ensure the fairness of the exam, Eleanor was asked to leave the exam room. She leaned against the wall and began a long and boring wait.

During the metamorphosis exam, Peeves suddenly appeared. He stuffed a small bomb into the moldy cake and threw it through the window of the examination room. The cake exploded from the center, and the examination room fell into chaos.

The invigilating professor shooed Peeves away and spent a quarter of an hour cleaning up the cake crumbs.Fortunately, this does not seem to affect the progress of the exam.

The exam time has been extended by 10 minutes, which seems to be a good thing for some students.Avery, for example, walked out of the exam with a look of excitement on his face, "I've answered them all - this is amazing! Thanks to the extra 10 minutes!"

"Congratulations," Eleanor said, "This is all the result of your own hard work."

Hearing this sentence, Avery suddenly looked away a little. He cleared his throat and muttered, "Thanks to you, Tom. Thanks."

Tom tilted his head slightly, showing a slight smile, "You're welcome." He glanced at Eleanor with deep eyes, "And the one you should thank is her. She begged me hard to help you pass the exam."

Avery looked at Eleanor in surprise, as if she had just emerged from the ground. "Is that true?"

"What he said was too exaggerated." Eleanor resisted the urge to roll her eyes and replied, "I just made a small suggestion to him."

She said, with a smile on the corner of her mouth, "What's more, you are good friends, right? It's normal for friends to help each other."

Tom cast a sharp look at her at once.Eleanor pretended not to notice.

Avery grinned, scratched his temples a little embarrassedly, and muttered under his breath, "You're right. But... I'm a little impressed by you, Ghost."

After the exams, students have to stay in school for a week, waiting for the end-of-year banquet and the announcement of results.

At the year-end banquet, Headmaster Dippet announced that this year's House Cup winner is Gryffindor. This is because Gryffindor won the Quidditch championship before, which added a lot of points to them. No.2 Slytherin is only ten points below it.

Eleanor floated near the long table, infected by the frustration of the Slytherin students.

"What a pity." She sighed. "What do you say, Mr. Bloody Barrow?"

The bloody Barrow was hovering in the air not far from her right. After hearing Eleanor's words, he turned his head mechanically, his eyes still dull and blurred.

To Eleanor's surprise, this time the bloody Baron actually responded to her words.

His voice was terribly hoarse, like sawing wood.

"It's a pity." He said softly, then turned and floated out of the wall.

A few days later, the results came out.

Needless to say, Tom got the highest grades in the year and he got honors in all his studies. He has won the highest scholarship in Slytherin House.

Eleanor's jaw almost dropped when she saw the pile of golden Galleons, "Your academy is so generous."

"It's because Slytherin has a lot of patrons." Avery said without looking up, he was staring down at his report card, and after a few seconds he let out a scream of excitement, "Oh, Merlin briefs! My transfiguration is excellent!"

He couldn't contain his excitement, jumped up and hugged Tom, "Great! Now I can show my report card to my mother!"

Tom frowned and pushed him away calmly.

Soon, they were packing their bags and waiting to board the Hogwarts train home.

"Are you sure you don't want to visit my house, Tom?" Avery asked again.

"No," said Tom without hesitation.

Not so long ago, Principal Dippet had turned down Tom's request to stay at school for the holidays.

"I'm sorry, Tom. I've seen your situation, and I'd be happy to change the school rules a little bit for you. But we don't usually allow students under third grade to stay at school for the summer. It's not safe. "Principal Dippet said very kindly, it seems that he already knew about Tom's first grade. No teacher would hate a child who loves to learn.

"But—" Tom frowned and pointed to Eleanor behind him, "If I go back, she will go back with me. I'm worried that she will scare the other children in the orphanage."

"I'm not that scary." Eleanor muttered dissatisfied.

"Don't worry, Tom," said Headmaster Dippet, smiling. "Muggles can't see ghosts."

"Okay... I see, Professor." Tom said with his head slightly lowered. From Eleanor's point of view, there was undisguised disappointment on his face.

Tom's face had been gloomy since then, and he looked like a powder keg ready to explode at the slightest touch. This made Avery a little afraid to approach him, but he finally worked up the courage to invite him.

It's a pity that Tom refused without thinking.

Riding the Hogwarts Express excited Eleanor, who hadn't been on a train for a long time.

The box they were in had never been disturbed by other students. This is probably because most students still keep ghosts at arm's length.

"Why don't you want to visit Avery's, Tom?" she couldn't help asking,--since you don't want to go back to the orphanage so much. "

Avery opened a pack of Bibi's multi-flavored beans, looked at Tom curiously, and whispered, "Yeah, I want to know too."

Tom still kept leaning on his chin, looking out of the window, and said in a blunt tone: "I never visit other people's houses."

"Why?" Eleanor asked.

"That's because they usually—" At this point Tom stopped short. He tilted his head slightly and said irritably, "Why should I explain this to you?"

"If you don't want to say it." Eleanor shrugged.

After several hours, the train finally arrived at the station. The students got off the train one after another. Most of them ran happily to their parents or relatives who came to meet them.

Avery dragged his luggage to his mother. His mother stood solemnly behind the railing and waved to Avery. She pressed her thin lips tightly, and she looked like a woman who was not easy to mess with.

"See you at the beginning of school then." Avery turned around and waved at them.

Those parents cast curious eyes on Eleanor. They probably have never seen a ghost appear here.

"Don't they know it's rude to stare at others?" Eleanor complained dissatisfiedly, "Let's get out of here quickly."

But just like Principal Dippet said, Muggles can't see Eleanor. So after walking out of the platform, Eleanor didn't have to worry about being stared at.

Eleanor walked carefully through the crowd, trying not to bump into anyone.

They walked into the street on foot.Tom quickly found a carriage, and after some haggling, the coachman agreed to take them to their destination at a relatively cheap price.

Eleanor had never been to London before. She was floating right behind the carriage, observing everything around her curiously. The models in the shop window were wearing what she thought were very fashionable clothes, and countless cars sped past her from time to time.

London is wonderful, she thought.

Soon, they reached their destination.

It was a dilapidated building, and the garden behind the bare railings was full of weeds, and it seemed that no one had taken care of it for a long time.

Tom jumped out of the carriage briskly, he raised his head and looked at the sign at the entrance of the orphanage, a gloomy light of unknown meaning flashed in his eyes.

"Here it is." He said softly.
