Bride of the HP Dragon
Chapter 45
Draco pushed Hermione behind him when he realized that the dungeon entrance was about to open.
Asked her to do what Draco said, and a few seconds of resistance were to be expected. She was so stubborn, she noticed that he was holding their only wand, their only means of defense.
"Draco," she whispered anxiously, and the door opened.
"Ready," he replied, and they both backed away a little.
He felt her tense, hot breath on his bare shoulders, and the heavy, wide-open door was pressed against Travers' body, which had been pushed against the wall and left behind. A large, dirty bloodstain.
Draco raised his wand, faintly already on the tip of his tongue.
Just as he was about to say the spell, he saw not Bryce or Bellatrix or worse Voldemort, but Goyle.Behind him was Tonks, who seemed to be in as much trouble as Hermione, watching cautiously from the outside.
"Thanks, Merlin!" Tonks almost pushed Goyle away, which was not an easy task.
She was about to hug Hermione tightly when she stopped suddenly because of the large amount of blood on Hermione's body.
"Not mine," Hermione told her hastily, hugging Tonks. "I'm fine, thanks Draco."
Tonks backed away and looked at Draco in surprise: "Cousin, you saved Hermione?"
Draco was looking fiercely at Goyle: "It wasn't my intention, but I saved her."
"I'm assuming this is your blood." Tonks raised his hand to examine the deep gash on Draco's forehead.
He dodged and avoided her hand: "Unfortunately, yes."
"He needs treatment," said Hermione more urgently, her eyes appearing very large on her pale face.
Goyle cleared his throat: "Ugh! I'm sorry to disturb your reunion, but tonight's rescue is not over, the three of you must leave," he stared at Tonks, Hermione and Draco grimly: "Now Walk!"
Draco glared at him. "It's four people, you bastard, and yourself."
Tonks sighed: "Save your energy, I've tried it, he's determined."
"Are you crazy, Greg?" Draco asked, but the look on his face showed that this was the expected ending.
Gore blushed: "Stop it, this is not the time to argue, I know what I'm doing, okay?"
"It's because of Pansy, isn't it?" Draco sneered cruelly. "That's the stupid half-reason why you want to be a Death Eater! My friend, you're delusional!"
It was a spectacle to see Gregory Goyle pissed off, and he wasn't a violent man in his weight unless called upon or outraged.Hermione had of course witnessed it before, though usually it was just a post-match brawl between a group of rival Quidditch players. But he never had anything against Draco, ever.
He was moving surprisingly fast for a boy of his size, or maybe it was just because Draco hadn't resisted at all.Draco was pushed against the wall, and Goyle caught Draco's neck with his strong arms.
Both boys see each other as enemies.
"You guys stop," Tonks warned, but she didn't interfere, and even held out a hand to stop Hermione who was going forward.
"So what if I'm doing all this for Pansy? Tell me what to expect from Hogwarts, Draco. No money, no relationships, no development, no future."
"Let go," Draco said softly, "I'm here for you, you ungrateful bastard."
Goyle's dark eyes flashed, and the threat faded away, leaving only a very tired young man: "I thank you, you are so stupid, but I still have to thank you." He released Della Ke, turned to look at Tonks and Hermione: "Now, if you will allow me to repay this kind act, I will watch you three go home safely."
Under the leadership of Gore, they walked towards the stairs.Draco refused Goyle's help, even though he had trouble walking. But there he was, holding Hermione's hand firmly.
Gore told them to wait at the bottom of the stairs, and he went upstairs first to see if anyone was in the hallway on the ground floor.
"Who is behind the scenes?" Tonks asked.
Draco answered her: "Brace Zabini, he's the recruiter, and the little bastard also happens to be a shapeshifter."
Tonks was visibly shocked: "Zabini! What a surprise!"
"Unexpected is normal."
Tonks turned to Hermione again. "What the hell are you doing here? You came with Malfoy?"
Hermione shook her head: "Brace brought me here." Then she looked at her husband meaningfully.
"If you think I'm breaking my promise to you, stop guessing. It has nothing to do with my mother, I'm here for Goyle, remember?" Draco said.
"You came here on a mission and didn't tell me, it makes no difference!"
"That's two different things," he hissed back.
Hermione was surprised when she'd become restrained, and she glared at him: "Don't play dumb, Malfoy, this isn't for you."
"I can't play dumb because of my natural talent? Oh, so can I say that the Weasleys are a miracle?"
Tonks looked at them with a thoughtful expression: "You two have a worse relationship than Lupine and Snape, and Draco, what happened to your mother?"
"She's dead, what a trouble. Blaise killed her three months ago on Bellatrix Lestrange's orders." Draco's voice was emotionless.
"No," gasped Tonks, "impossible."
"Of course it is possible," Draco sneered, "You must have seen our family, right?"
"Then Blaise did it after all," Hermione concluded calmly, and the smart and conscientious boy she'd considered a friend she'd known a year earlier was no longer there. He never existed, and she took a deep breath and looked at Tonks. "We must send a message to the Ministry of Magic before he disappears forever."
Further conversation stops when Goyle's bald head appears above the stairs: "No one! Come up!"
Tonks went up first, stopping on the first step, and she found it difficult for Draco to move his injured leg.
As he leaned on the old armrest to support himself, the pain was evident on his face. The handrail was twisted and deformed, and for a moment they thought the whole handrail was going to shift and fall.
"Damn," he said as he closed his eyes tightly, his voice forced, the dark pants on his right foot were stained black with blood: "Granger, wait for me for a minute, you guys go first."
Immediately feeling guilty for arguing with him earlier, Hermione looked up at Tonks pleadingly: "Can we do something?"
Goyle still hanging on the railing: "We have to go now!"
Having made his decision, Tonks reached down and grabbed Draco.Together, with Hermione's help, they led him up the stairs.Tonks tugged, Hermione pushed.
"Give it to me," Tonks said, snatching the wand from Draco's hand, and she tore a piece of fabric from her prison uniform to make a tourniquet.
"I could cast a suture charm, but based on the depth of the wound, this will paralyze your leg for at least 10 minutes."
Draco gritted his teeth as Tonks wrapped the bandage tightly around his wound, "I'll do that later."
"Maybe you'll bleed to death?" Tonks warned dryly.
All four were flat against the staircase wall, hiding in the shadows.Quick and urgent footsteps were heard in the upstairs hallway. They were approaching, and there was not much time to adjust the hiding place.Tonks crouched at Goyle's feet while Draco pulled Hermione to his chest. She was warm, shivering, and thankful she was alive.
Holding her tightly made his body work wonders, he let out a sigh of pleasure, then slid his hand from her waist and squeezed gently under her.
Hermione was a little taken aback, staring up at him in disbelief in the darkness. In the midst of blood loss and the danger of everyone else dying, only Draco could think of messing with her.
"You know, you're just a heat freak?"
He squeezed out a weak smile: "It started when I married you."
Hermione looked down at Tonks, who was pressing a finger to her lips.Tonks raised his wand and silently cast a spell. It took Hermione a moment to realize that they were surrounded by an invisible magic, as if a warm cloud had descended over them.
When she looked up at Draco, she saw the rough gray wall behind him like a liquid cover, rippling over his face.
They stayed where they were, motionless.
The people who passed them were running up the stairs without seeing them there.Gore waited cautiously for a while before stepping out of that layer of magic. After he moved, the magic dissipated and the air became cold again.
"Great," he said to Tonks.
"It's great what Oro School can teach you, isn't it?" she told him, but Goyle missed the hint.
"Go this way for the west exit," he said, pointing to the left side of the corridor: "Once you get out, hide in the woods."
The voices outside were getting louder, and it sounded like a battle was about to take place. There were explosions, shouts, and sporadic explosions on a smaller scale. The rescue team was obviously close.
"What happened here tonight?" Draco asked Goyle curiously. "I mean, why would Bellatrix choose this place?"
Both looked at each other seriously: "That's why I'm here, Bellatrix is here to screen Death Eater recruits."
"Recruits? Are they all here?"
Gore hesitated and then nodded: "Yes, it's on this floor."
Draco's beautiful eyes narrowed: "Show me."
Hermione shook her head: "We're running out of time." She looked at Tonks begging for help, but unfortunately, she didn't succeed.
There was the same sharpness in Tonks' eyes: "I'm sorry Hermione, but personally, I'd love to see what made Voldemort think he could win the war. You, lead the way," she said to Goyle, ordering more Over request: "Hurry up!"
Goyle obeyed with a pained face, and Hermione had no choice but to follow, though she had reservations about it.
That room was the third in the corridor, and it was unlocked. She wondered why the young men seemed to be obediently inside, and Goyle answered her question.
"Their wands have been taken," explained Goyle, with no concealed contempt.
If he hadn't won Blaise's favor, he too would have been forced to stay in this room, sifted by Bellatrix. No matter how you think about how things are going, it's not a good sign that the wand is taken away.Either that meant blind trust, or Voldemort had always liked to be awe-inspiring.
"Stupid and incompetent," Draco sighed wistfully, "Bellatrix will be very pleased."
Draco gestured for the others to wait, and Hermione watched in disapproving silence as he took the wand from Tonks, flicked his wrist inward, and magically opened the door.
The others couldn't see what Draco saw, but they witnessed the remarkable change he made as he stood over the threshold. He put on a calm, thoroughly defiant expression, and kicked the door open with his good leg.Hermione started to take a look, but Draco caught her with a look.
There were eight young men in the room, all wearing Death Eater-style robes of their own inappropriate design.Draco guessed that this might be considered a maniac, or maybe overconfidence.
Four or five of them had the look of a sullen, moody Durmstrang in a school where getting lost on the way to the bathroom sometimes meant six months for the janitor to be in the enchanted utility room Finding your frozen haggard corpse, the boys were silent.
The other two were worried by the unpredictable situation outside the castle, and they were still arguing privately in rapid French when Draco opened the door.
"Hi, how are you?" Draco asked calmly. (Annotation: The double quotation marks at the beginning of this sentence are all French dialogues.)
Hermione, Tonks, and Goyle looked on unnoticed from the side, Goyle looking terrified at their risk for a couple of seconds, and Tonks looking eager to try.
Inside the room, the makeshift newcomers looked in amazement at Draco, bloody and torn, a Bubaston boy, a tall, orange-red-haired young man, extremely haughty and suspicious, very It is easy to see that he is the temporary leader of this group of people.
"I'm sorry...but who are you?" He frowned subtly.
"Draco Malfoy, I am at your service." Draco replied, nodding his head slightly. He might have collapsed from the dizziness of the wound at such a simple movement, but the firm grip on the post kept him on his feet.
The boy's eyes widened, and he turned to look at his companion before speaking to Draco again, "Malfoy! So you're here to join us, too?"
Draco's answer was a humorless sneer of pure Malfoy malice, which was well known.
"Absolutely not, you Gallic fool."
No one in the room clearly understood, but one Durmstrang man who felt bad reacted faster than anyone else and ran for the door.
"Welcome to England," Draco said, closing the door and locking it.
The sharp pain in the wounded leg screamed, and the knocking on the door began.Goyle seemed to have resigned himself to his fate, letting Draco's arms wrap around his shoulders to support his friend. This move, Draco allowed.
"Technically, we're in Wales now," Gower said.
"Good news," he said hoarsely, and then looked at Tonks: "Tell Moody when he rushes in."
Tonks grinned. "Oh, he'd like it."
"Several small European villages will miss their idiots, but I think they'll survive." Hermione was frustrated.Maybe she's missing her adventurous gene, but it's silly: "Okay, we locked those idiots in, now can we go?"
A spell flew just inches above their heads, and Harry knew it had grazed his scalp.
Harry fell backwards, a hand grabbing his hair.
"Ahh..." He felt that where a piece of scalp should have been shaved, a strand of stiff hair stood up, and what was worse, these hairs pointed straight at the sky. This was unprecedented for Harry's thick hair, which had in fact been petrified.
"Are you all right?" Ron yelled anxiously.
Harry blinked, poked his stiff bristling hair: "It's okay."
"Then don't stop attacking! Moody told us not to stop!"
Harry was at a loss: "Ron, when's the last time you remember a Death Eater fighting to the death with nothing but petrification?"
Ron was staring at the hair on top of Harry's head: "Um..."
"One minute off." Harry thought for a moment and then said.
"What are you doing, come back!" Ron called to him, but Harry scrambled past Ron, through the bushes and bushes they were hiding from.He sat up to rest, looking at the clearing that separated them from the enemy.
It was still very dark and there was at least an hour before sunrise.
Harry put his hands to his mouth and called, "Hi!" across the moor.
A few birds are so startled that you can't see them, but you can hear distant calls and the flapping of wings.
The spells fired from the opposite side suddenly stopped.
"Harry?" Ten seconds later came a shriek in response.
Harry rushed from his hiding place, he recognized the voice everywhere: "Hermione!"
Then she appeared suddenly from behind a protruding rock, and she tried to step onto the grass, her wand still cautiously in her hand. The walk turned into a jog, which turned into a gallop after recognizing Harry. She rushed into his arms so hard that he had to take a step back to avoid falling.
Harry hugged her tightly and laughed, "It's great to see you here! I thought we..." All the joy faded from his face when he saw her blood-stained clothes , I can't close my mouth.
"I'm fine, Harry," she interrupted him with a confident smile. "I'm just a little scared, but everything else is fine."
Harry put her down dubiously, looked at her whole body, and another figure appeared from the darkness: "Who are you with?"
"You'll see," she laughed. "Oh, Harry, I can't believe you're here!"
"Where else would I be in this dangerous rescue mission?"
"Hello? I also participated in the same mission, and I was also selected." It was Ron, who stopped behind Harry, looking happy but dissatisfied, and Hermione also tried to pull him and give him a hug .
He grimaced, then pointed at Harry in a natural way that he wasn't done hugging yet.
"You two idiots are here, but I guessed it," she told them, breathlessly.
"You'll have to thank us." Ron sneered at her, his eyes widening as the shadowy figure approaching them turned into Tonks.
"Tonks!"
Tonks dusted off evidence of the dust that had stuck to her from Ron's numerous Shattering Curses: "So you two were firing at us?" She asked kindly, "Weasley, this must be something I've encountered The most unfriendly friendly fire ever."
Ron and Harry were excited to see her, and Harry slapped her on the back hard: "You, Mrs. Orlo, are obviously indestructible."
She winked at him. "Everybody knows that. What about Moody and the others? And where the hell is Remus! If he stays, we can't beat him."
"They're in there, all of them."
"Moody left the two of you outside alone?" Hermione couldn't believe it.
Harry misunderstood the question: "I understand his decision!"
Hermione patted his arm. "I'm pretty sure he has a reason for doing it."
"What reason? After going to the trouble of bringing us here, we were told to stay outside and wait for them? I know it's just an empty mission, firing on anyone who tries to escape until you two show up," said Harry.
"It's three." She corrected.
"Harry," added Ron, with a sigh, "it's an empty mission because no one escaped the castle except these two."
"Three." Hermione repeated.
"Three what?" asked Ron, and then suddenly became quiet, looking very badly: "Hermione! Is this... blood?"
Harry interrupted her answer with a raised wand: "Back off!"
Draco, the one responsible for the new panic, was coming their way.
"Are you going to attack me while I'm standing still, Potter?" Draco said slowly. His legs caught the eye at a strange angle, and even in the dark he clearly showed a dying paleness.
Harry's wand hand trembled.
"Harry, no!" Hermione grabbed his hand as if hanging from a horizontal bar. Harry didn't change his attitude. Hermione waited until Harry looked at her before she said, "He's with us." ’ she announced.
"what?"
"He killed a Death Eater to save me," she said softly, her eyes darker than usual brown.
"It's true, Harry." Tonks was also sure, she gently pressed her index finger on the tip of Harry's stick and gently lowered it: "He is a friend, we should take him home and protect him."
Surprisingly, Ron accepted it faster than Harry, accepting Draco from head to toe: "You look like you just escaped from hell, buddy."
"Nice to meet you too, Potter." Panting, Draco shuffled to a tree and leaned against it.
"We'll have to take him to the hospital or St. Mungo's for a leg injury," Hermione whispered to Harry.
Harry motioned for Hermione to shake her hand reassuringly, noticing that Draco was watching their movements with brilliance: "Let Tonks go with you, Ron and I stay. Moody gave We have a mission, no matter how stupid the mission is, we have to complete it smoothly."
"I know you're going to stay," Hermione said cheerfully, "note that I didn't ask you if you wanted to come with us."
Harry stared at her: "You're getting thick-skinned, Hermione."
"I was influenced by Draco," she feigned regret, and then gave him a friendly smile: "Please take care of Ron."
"Yes," Harry agreed, thinking of Ron's old pair of dazzling white sneakers: "He needs to be looked after."
"Damn it, I heard it all," Ron muttered.
Tonks rolled his eyes. "As if I was really going to leave you all alone," she told Ron and Harry. Malfoy was set free."
"What!" Ron opened his mouth wide.
Tonks and Draco exchanged quick glances, she had learned of Lucius' escape and his son's rescue. In order to protect Goyle, they are not going to reveal that he had anything to do with Tonks' rescue.Better to let it all go to that mysterious reformed man, Lucius.
Hermione disagrees with the plan to deceive the authorities, but the facts mean that Goyle's life is in danger.
"Four things you should know," she began in an orderly fashion, gathering her dull hair back into a loose braid with flying fingers.
"If it's Bellatrix Lestrange being here, cross it off your list," said Harry.
"Well, Brace Zabini was Voldemort's recruiter at Hogwarts, and he's the one who brought me here. There's a room full of probably pissed-off Death Eaters ready to sign up, being We locked up, and one last thing, yes, Lucius Malfoy gave us this wand." Anyway, that happened to be the truth, and she held up her wand hesitantly: "He's free, and probably It's a hundred miles away from here. Will you tell Moody all this when you see him?"
Harry's jaw muscles twitched, his eyes frantic behind his glasses. "You mean Zabini?"
"Yes."
"And Lucius Malfoy escaped?" Ron seemed still struggling with this particular message.
"He's the one who saved Draco and gave him his wand back, and it seems like he planned those tricks as well."
Ron raised his head: "That explosion!"
"Your father's blindfold really worked," Tonks said dryly to Draco. "We seem to be the only ones who got away."
Ron was nodding, pointing to the thick gray smoke billowing from the east side of the castle: "Well, the whole section of the building is gone." He said, "Moody and the rest of the team entered through the big hole created by the explosion, He ordered us to open fire on anyone who emerged from the west gate."
"Then it's us." Tonks smiled.
"Where's another Oro? Aren't you missing two people?" Ron asked, his tone very cautious.
Tonks' smile disappeared, and she wiped her forehead with the back of her hand, then looked at them regretfully.
"Bligh is dead."
"How did you die?" Harry asked.
"It happened at Hogwarts, some kind of Portkey sent him to a dangerous place, I guess." Tonks curled his right hand fingers: "If I can get my wand back now..."
"You two better get going," Harry told Draco and Hermione, "We'll catch up to you later."
"Stay safe, Harry."
"Come on," he laughed, waving at Hermione, and then he turned to Draco and whispered, "If anything happens to Hermione, you're dead."
Draco didn't retort: "We finally reached a consensus."
Asked her to do what Draco said, and a few seconds of resistance were to be expected. She was so stubborn, she noticed that he was holding their only wand, their only means of defense.
"Draco," she whispered anxiously, and the door opened.
