Chapter 2

two

The next day, I couldn't sleep early in the morning because of the jet lag.

When I got up, I happened to meet Xiaojie who was going out to make rounds.

"Sister, I'm going out. I'll leave the car to you. Call me if you need anything." He said while putting on his shoes, and then went out.

I was thinking about what I was going to do today, and finally decided to go back to school and ask the English Department to see if I could find any clues about the teacher.

After a casual breakfast, I drove out.

The traffic in Taiwan is terrible.Having not driven in Taiwan for seven years, it took me a while to get used to it.

I couldn't help admiring the teacher's driving skills again, and then I thought, Lan Xin told me about the Porsche that got into a car accident yesterday.

I wish it wasn't her.

"Impossible, there are so many Porsches in Taiwan, it can't happen to be hers." I shook my head, shaking such thoughts out of my head.

Not long after, I drove to the school following the directions of the GPS.

After parking the car, I got out of the car and stood at the door to look at the school that I had been in for five years.

The current students are probably nearly ten years younger than each other. It's nice to be young.

The corners of my mouth raised unconsciously.

"Hi, are you... senior sister?" Suddenly a familiar face stopped in front of me and called me.

I thought about it, and it was the school girl who said "I like my teacher the most."

"You are a junior, are you still in school?" I asked her.

"Well, something happened later. I didn't go abroad, but I just stayed in school. Now I'm preparing my doctoral dissertation. Where's my sister?" She looked at me and asked.

"Oh, I just got my PhD half a year ago, and I just returned to Taiwan two days ago, and I wanted to talk about visiting the teacher." I greeted her pretending nothing happened.

"Are you talking about Teacher Shi? You have been away for many years..." She told me, and sure enough, I guessed right.

"Yes...then do you know if she went to teach in another school?" I took the opportunity to ask her.

"I don't know. She left very hastily, as if it was a temporary decision, and she smiled and didn't answer everyone's questions. I haven't contacted her since she left. Maybe you can go to the English department and ask. Maybe someone knows," she told me.

"Oh good, thanks!" I smiled and said thank you to her, and walked to the English department.

When I entered the department office and asked, no one knew where she had gone, after all, it was five years ago.

"It's written in the materials that Teacher Shi left her job, so I don't know if she went to another school, because it's not written in the records." The teaching assistant of the department office very enthusiastically helped me find the teacher's information, which indeed said She left the job five years ago.

"Oh yes, thank you." I thanked her with a nod.

"No, are you her student?" She asked while putting away the materials.

"Yeah, a student from a long time ago." I said.

"Ms. Shi seems to be very popular with students. According to the previous teaching assistants, when she first left, students came to ask about her almost every day." She told me.

"She's a great teacher," I said with a smile.

"I think so." She smiled too.

I left school disappointed.

"You must have expected that one day I would go back to school to look for you, so you didn't even leave me any clues." I sat in the car and muttered to myself.

I start the car, but don't know where to go.

I thought of the embankment where the teacher told me her story, and I drove there.

Seven years later, the embankment is no longer what it used to be.Maybe when I went with the teacher, it was different from the embankment when her ex-husband proposed.

Time never stays for anyone, it is real and cruel, leaving the footprints it once walked everywhere.

The embankment is more beautiful again, it is neatly maintained, and there are several leisurely coffee shops.

I randomly chose one to go in, ordered a glass of juice, and sat quietly in the store, staring at the calm river in a daze.

Suddenly, I heard a song by Liu Ruoying on the radio - we are not together, its lyrics attracted me: "But you were the only one who accompanied me in the first place,

Only you can understand that my dreams are never big,

We're not together at least like a couple,

I was in pain, crazy and injured, and cried the most in front of you;

I know you can't take me back to that place,

You say you are fine now and like to have long memories,

We're not together at least like family,

Always care far and share far. "

That's it for the lyrics, word by word hit my heart.

"You have been by my side from the very beginning, and you also know that the dream I want is just the stability by your side, why do you want me to let you see the real me after I learn to let you see the real me, don't look back, don't stay Leave with a few words. Then tell Xiaojie that you are doing well, are you really doing well? Have you received all the letters I wrote to you and the messages on your mobile phone? How can you be so unfair, caring about my life, but cutting off all contact with you?" I asked her in my heart, my cheeks wet.

I quickly wiped away my tears, paid the bill and left, driving around in the car, thinking of that time, when she went abroad for a week.

Although Xiaojie's car is not a 911, it can still drive fast. I turn off the GPS and drive to the North Coast.

Not yet fully adapted to the time in Taiwan, I felt tired after a while, and finally returned home, defeated by jet lag, I resigned myself to bed and went to sleep.

When he woke up, Xiaojie had already returned home.

"Sister, are you awake? I bought dinner, hurry up and eat before it's cold." He sat on the dining table and waved to me.

"Are you off work?" I asked him.

"No, because I live close to my house, I can come back for a sneaky meal, and I have to go round the house later." He said.

I nodded, and when I saw the keys he put on the table, I suddenly thought of something.

"When you moved in, did you close the room for me?" I asked him.

"Yes, your things are in the room where you sleep. I'll show you." He stood up, and I followed him into the room.

"In this cabinet." He opened the storage cabinet closest to the wall, and there were boxes and boxes inside, and he wrote "sister" on them.

"Oh yes, thank you," I said.

"I don't know how to organize them, so I just put them in boxes one by one. If you want to find them, it may take a lot of work." He said shyly.

"Thank you for bringing it and not throwing it away." I said gratefully.

"Nonsense! How can I lose your things! You are my sister!" He complained.

"Okay, okay, you are the best, you brought me something. Really, why are you still like a child." I smiled and comforted him, but I didn't forget to complain.

We fought and fought again, and after dinner, he went back to the hospital.

I started to open the boxes one by one, looking for what I wanted.

Finally, in the box below, I found it—the key that the teacher gave me before.

"Is this still useful? Seven years, will you really disappear?" I held the key and said to myself.

I decided to try tomorrow the house we lived in together seven years ago. If I'm lucky, I might find something.
