Sean slept until midnight and woke up shivering.

He drilled deeper into the quilt again. The house was cold and damp, as it had always been, but after weeks of snuggling with another person for warmth, the chill had become unbearable. He misses that warmth.

Sean sighed, turned over on the bed and hugged the pillow with his hands, angry with himself.Things are getting out of hand.enough.To his Rutledge, to his warm body.Went to his.

But no matter what he said to himself, the longing in his heart was still lingering. That hunger.A need that goes beyond sex.He wanted to be next to Rutledge's body, the tall, warm body.He even wanted to hear his harsh words, to feel his breath on his skin—

Sean tensed and raised his head.He swore he heard voices coming from the living room. But the sisters can't be awake, right?

Sean frowned and got up from the bed. The moment his skin touched the cold air, he shivered violently, and then he walked towards the door with bare feet. There was a light in the living room, but that didn't mean much: he didn't turn it off because the twins were afraid of the dark.

Sean quietly opened the door, and the whole person froze.

Rutledge sat on the floor next to his sisters' beds, one of the twins on his lap.

Sean's heart was pounding wildly in his chest.

He is back.

He is back.

"Where have you been?" asked the sister, rubbing her eyes sleepily with one hand and fiddling with Rutledge's tie with the other. This is the little bee, Sean decided in his heart.Rutledge seemed to be a little partial to the bee, but even if it was a bee, it was strange enough that Rutledge would put up with her playing like this.

It wasn't until Sean observed Rutledge's face carefully that he seemed to understand a little bit.Even though the light was dim, the expression on his face was not the usual relaxed and tired one.

"I went to see my family," Rutledge muttered.

The little bee sucks its thumb. "I remember your family. Your father didn't like us very much."

A strange look crossed Rutledge's face.He didn't say anything.

"Sean said you're going to have a new family."

Rutledge froze visibly. "That's what he said?"

The little bee nodded. "He's so sad, so sad."

Sean felt his face heat up.Did she have to tell him this?

Rutledge had a rare look on his face. "Does he have it?"

"I'm so sad too," said the little bee. "I don't understand. Why do you want a new family? You already have us."

What a kid, Sean thought, biting his lip. They are not taboo about anything. In some respects, children are braver than adults.

Rutledge opened his mouth, then closed it again. This was the first time Sean saw him speechless.Rutledge's Adam's Apple twitched, and he said to the little bee, "Don't worry, I won't have any new family."

Sean exhaled.

"Isn't it time for you to go to bed, little man?"

The little bee stared at Rutledge seriously with big blue eyes. "You're sad too. Did something bad happen?"

Rutledge twisted the corner of his mouth, showing a miserable smile. "You can say that."

"When I'm sad, Sean gives me a hug, and then I'm not sad. Do you want a hug?"

Sean thought Rutledge would probably refuse with a sneer.

He didn't.He didn't say anything.

Bee took his silence for acquiescence, and she stood up and wrapped her little arms around Rutledge's neck.Rutledge had to hold her up.

Sean stared first at Rutledge's large hands on his sister's back, then at his blank, restrained face.

He quietly closed the door and walked back to bed barefoot.

About 10 minutes later, he heard the door being opened again. After a rustle of clothes rubbing against each other, Rutledge pressed his body against the mattress, then got under the quilt and lay down next to Sean.

Sean jumped on top of him so quickly that he would have been ashamed if he cared; he didn't.He just needs to go and kiss him.Need to touch him.So he kissed him, and Rutledge kissed him back with equal hunger, the movement of his lips so urgent it seemed desperate.

Sean wasn't sure how long they'd kissed—it felt like hours, but at the same time it seemed like seconds.

By the time they finally stopped kissing to catch their breath, Sean was warm from head to toe.He hung one leg over Rutledge's crotch and rested his head on Rutledge's chest.Rutledge's heart was beating against his ear, strong and fast.

This peaceful silence lasted for a long time.

"He died, didn't he?" Sean finally whispered.

He felt Rutledge suddenly stiffen the muscles beneath him. "Yes."

Sean hesitated, not sure what to say. "What's the matter? Someone said you're getting married."

Rutledge sighed, and Sean's face was pressed against the other's chest, saying that he heard him sigh, but rather felt the relaxation of his chest. "Joseph again. He told me he was going to die before I went. And when I got there, there was a big party going on over there."

"What party?" Sean said, running his fingers through Rutledge's chest hair.

"There were a lot of politicians, wealthy businessmen, and journalists. As soon as I got there, Joseph made an announcement."

Sean opened his eyes wide. "He really announced your engagement without asking you? That's outrageous." Wow.He knew that Drake's father was authoritarian, but it was too ridiculous, even if he couldn't do it.

Rutledge seemed a little hesitant. "I think... I think he was a little out of his wits during that time. He probably hoped that I wouldn't want to embarrass myself in front of all the big shots and reporters. He was right - if I did that, Our family would be a laughing stock. I told him privately that if he didn't back down from the announcement, I'd make it myself." Rutledge paused. When he spoke again, his tone remained the same, "He was out of breath and suffered a heart attack. He died the next morning."

Sean closed his eyes. "Did you two reconcile before he died?"

Rutledge gave a dry laugh that sounded sharp and pale. "No. Even when he was dying, he called me the biggest failure in his life. He was out of breath and wanted to hold me in his hands. He threatened that if I didn't marry that girl , to leave all the family property to Vivienne's husband. Of course he didn't do it. He was so—he was so rigid during his lifetime, so he wouldn't do anything out of line."

Sean ran his lips over his warm skin, then took a breath, feeling Rutledge's heart beat against his cheek. "I'm glad you're back, Drake."

He felt Rutledge's whole body stiffen for a moment, then relax next to him.

A strong arm wrapped around Sean's back, hugging him so tightly that his ribs were almost squeezed and hurt.

Sean didn't complain. He rubbed against Drake's warm body and soon fell asleep.

For the first time this week, he slept like a baby.
