Chapter 21 Isolation
Because of Snape's Occlumency remedial session at six o'clock, Harry was unable to press on.This was probably a good thing, because this time, unlike last week, Snape was going to check on Harry's studies. "Did you do as I said, Potter?" he asked, scrutiny evident in his dark eyes.
"Clear your mind before you go to sleep," Harry gave the answer again. He's not guilty, because on top of that, he's doing his best to avoid other people—or, to be precise, avoid possible eye contact with other people.
Snape narrowed his eyes and seemed suspicious, but said nothing. "Do you still have those inexplicable dreams?"
"What dream?" Harry asked reflexively, very dazed. Then he remembered that, last Monday, Snape's Legilimency had made him realize that the long corridor Voldemort wanted to go was the Department of Mysteries. "No, not after August."
"Potter," Snape narrowed his eyes even more, and his voice softened at the same time, "is it my illusion, or do you really regret it?"
Harry almost admitted it outright, but immediately thought of the possible consequences of his doing so.The reason Snape taught him Occlumency was to keep him from seeing those corridors... "No," he denied emphatically, "I was just thinking, v—" he realized Snape was staring at him, and quickly changed his words, "How could he be using Occlumency all the time?" except when Voldemort wanted him?
Those doubts barely faded from Snape's face. "Of course the Dark Lord will not allow you to read his thoughts and ideas." He snorted coldly, "His Occlumency is simply too much for you."
Harry had never liked Snape's relentless way of belittling him, but the lesson Umbridge taught him—or Voldemort taught Umbridge—was so profound that it Resisting his desire to argue with Snape. "So we can start?" he said stiffly.
The Potions Master smirked dangerously, and quickly grabbed his wand. "Legiliency!"
An hour later, Harry staggered a little out of the dungeon.Snape had tortured him again today, turning over memories of being abused when he was a child that he didn't remember, and he just felt a splitting headache. It would be nice to have someone to soothe him now, but he can't be with his friends when his brain barrier is at its weakest.
Harry had to go back to the Room of Requirement again. He was intent on avoiding the diadem—the room was so big—but as an object, the diadem was almost too sensitive. "You look like you've been ravaged viciously." It commented bluntly, seeming to be still smacking its mouth with interest.
"Come on." Harry retorted feebly. Now that he has been discovered, he simply gave up his intention of concealing his weakness, walked over, threw his schoolbag aside, and spread himself into a shape that had nothing to do with Yaguan.
The crown was still on top of the cabinet, which seemed to make it easier for it to look down at Harry. "Why are you back again? I thought you would be tomorrow at the earliest."
Harry closed his eyes and kneaded the bridge of his nose with one hand, trying to find an answer that wasn't so easy to guess. "I must be alone."
"To you, that's really short and to the point." Diadem said meaningfully.
But Harry wasn't in the mood to speculate on the possible implications. He still closed his eyes, worried that the soft yet threatening voice might sound again at any moment. You know, the first time he heard Voldemort's voice was right after his first Occlumency session...
But after a while, the link is still silent, there is no movement at all, and I can't even feel the intention.
"Why, no homework today?" Guan Mian asked again, gloating about knowingly asking.
Harry's temples throbbed at the thought of another long essay by Snape. "Can't you shut up?" He was a little annoyed.
"Do you really want me to shut up?" said Crown, in a tone of obvious feigned surprise, "You know, as long as you have a pen and paper ready, I can write it for you - absolutely nothing to do with the 'D' That kind!"
Getting poked in the foot made Harry very upset. "I know you're good, okay?" After blurting out this sentence, he became suspicious again: "When did you become so kind?"
"Don't be like this, I've always been very kind." Crown Prince said tactfully, "Especially when I'm in a good mood."
Harry narrowed his eyes. "You sound like you're mercifully delighted to see me tortured." He paused. "It's hard for me to imagine such a trait in a Ravenclaw."
"Like Slytherin, isn't it?" Diadem added indifferently for Harry, "but who says Ravenclaw has to be of the same character?"
"Cunningly justifying yourself, like a Slytherin," Harry pointed out immediately. He pressed his forehead again, "But it's a waste of time to tell you this."
Although he was still very tired, Harry sat up straight and began to take out textbooks, paper and pens from his schoolbag.Crown's words are not pleasant, but they are quite correct. One, three, and five have tutoring, and two and six have training; if he doesn't work hard to complete his homework from Monday, he will definitely die very ugly.
Luckily for Harry, nothing happened to the diadem for the rest of the evening. He scribbled through his treatise on potions and couldn't bear it any longer, so he packed up his things and went back to the tower.
The candles were extinguished, and the Room of Requirement fell back into darkness.Suddenly, there was a rustle of cloth rubbing against each other, followed by a lazy voice from the crown. "You're back."
"Yes," the Portrait—his voice was younger—answered in a low voice, "who is to see my face and realize that all is wrong?"
Crown clicked his tongue, but didn't really comment.
"How is today?" the portrait asked, but there was not much doubt in it.
"As usual," Guan Guan said a little bored, "I think he still can't figure it out, the silent spell is the basic skill." As long as he wants, he can easily modify any homework to an excellent level without opening his mouth.
"Just do it," the portrait agreed.
Crown snorted again. "I still don't get it," he said slowly, "just such a boy, is he our destined enemy?"
"Probably not quite, because he was chosen by him," the portrait corrected, "and he marked him."
Thinking of the lightning scar, Crown was silent for a while and changed the subject. "You think that works? Bringing him to our side?"
"Although he is an unsuccessful Horcrux, he is still a Horcrux." The portrait emphasizes, "Part of his soul belongs to us, so..."
The words were not finished, but Crown fully understood the implication. "The whole of him is ours. It's unrealistic to expect Dumbledore to reveal it himself, and we can only hope that we—"
"And him." The portrait helped to complete the last part.
Dione let out a sneer somewhere between exasperation and contempt. "A Gryffindor who is so impulsive that he doesn't know how to write rationally!" But after he said that, he thought of another example that was completely opposite. "Is there any new movement in the Order of the Phoenix recently?"
The portrait shakes its head in the impenetrable darkness. "You know, after what happened at the end of July, he decided to hide his whereabouts more deeply. Except for the tasks that have been assigned, he only has a few private instructions."
"Things are getting complicated, and it's wise to do that," Crown agreed. "He was just too rash in Godric's Hollow. And in Little Hangleton, too."
"This is exactly what we are saving now." The portrait continued, "We must ensure that there will be no third failure!"
"There is no third failure." Diadem repeated firmly.
Once again, the Room of Requirement fell silent. On the other side, the drowsy Harry had just returned to the tower when he was awakened by Hermione's proposal. "...what are you talking about?" He was so shocked that he forgot about trying to avoid eye contact, and almost glared at her, "How can I teach you Defense Against the Dark Arts?"
"Oh, of course, Harry," said Hermione immediately. "Think of all the things you did from your first to fourth years!"
"Don't be kidding," Harry retorted, "that's luck! Or someone helping me!" He turned to Ron, hoping he would agree with him that Hermione's idea was a fantasy.
But Ron looked thoughtful. "That's a good idea."
Harry's eyes widened. What does "that's an idea" mean?He didn't even have time to hide from the others, let alone teach them a lesson—that might kill them all!
Harry's blood ran cold at the thought of Ron and Hermione looking at him with the same vacant eyes that had once appeared on Umbridge's face. "Anyway, I don't agree!" He threw down this sentence in a fierce tone, and ran upstairs.
The two friends who were left in the common room looked at each other again.
Harry climbed into bed when he got back to the dormitory, drew the curtains tightly, and hugged his knees at the head of the bed.During this period, Neville seemed to want to strike up a conversation with him, but he resolutely pretended not to notice.
You can't get in close contact with other people knowing that you are a dangerous person. No matter what you do, there is a villain in your head telling him that you are irresponsible to other people.
While isolating yourself doesn't really solve the problem, another villain argues that if you learn Occlumency, you can live like a normal person.
However, with a teacher like Snape, it would be nice if Harry could keep the biggest secret, and he could still go to school? The first villain disagreed.
The second villain was choked for a long while. It was true, he admitted reluctantly, but Voldemort didn't have the time to keep poking into Harry's head, did he?If the timing is right, it's not impossible to help Hermione, right? After all, Umbridge's teaching is really bad?
Harry was almost convinced by the second villain, since Voldemort really wasn't around tonight. After much deliberation, he decided to continue to observe the pattern of the Dark Lord's appearance, and then make further plans after finding out.
