Lord of Spells from Faerûn
Chapter 109 Broken Magic Crystal (It’s hard to divide into chapters, so the two chapters are combine
The red wizard Mo Kai fell down like this and said goodbye to this world. It was one of the few questions he could never find an answer to.
Kessell stayed motionless against the wall, barely able to stand with the support of the wall, trembling constantly. Finally, the confidence that had put him in such danger filled him again.
He is a big shot now, this is what Eldruck, the spotted wizard Danshiba, and the other wizards who came with him told him. When his master dies, he, Akal Kessell, will receive his reward: a meditation chamber and an alchemy chamber in Luskan's mage tower.
"Is the matter done?" In a dark alley at the agreed place, a strong man asked Kessell who had just arrived.
Kessell nodded wistfully. "The red wizards of Luskan will never cast spells again!" he declared loudly, hoping to please his co-conspirators.
"Keep your voice down, you idiot!"
Hiding in the darkness of the alley, the spotted wizard Dandiba, a frail-looking man, spoke in his usual monotonous, lifeless tone. Dandiba was a man of few words, and even when he was excited, his face never showed a trace of emotion. He always hid his face under the lowered brim of his hat. Although the wizard Dandiba was the smallest and most inconspicuous among the caravans that reached the ten border towns after a journey of more than 400 miles, he was the most fearful to Kessell among all the wizards.
After confirming the death of the red mage Mo Kai, "Relax, my friend."
Eldruck said this as he gently placed his hand on Kessell's tense shoulders. "When we return to our hometown, then it is the best time for you to officially become a member of the guild." He said behind Kessell and winked at Dandiba.
Fascinated by the various benefits that his future identity would bring, Kessell couldn't help but feel dizzy. He would no longer be laughed at by the mage apprentices who were younger than him but higher up in the guild hierarchy. Now they had to respect him, because he had surpassed those guys who had better grades than him in the apprenticeship stage and achieved the lofty wizard status first.
He was excited about the power he would gain.
A street cat jumped over him and stared at him with wary eyes.
Kessell narrowed his eyes, thinking that the wild cat was mocking him and thinking that he was not worthy of inheriting this powerful power.
"Why not?"
Kessell stretched out his hand, pointed his deadly finger at the cat, and uttered the spell to summon [Thunder Wave]. The nervous cat saw this strange sight and jumped away as fast as lightning, but no magic attack hit it, or even came close to it.
Kessell looked at his hissing fingertips and wondered where he had gone wrong.
But he wasn't too disappointed. His burnt fingernails were the strongest effect he had ever had by casting this spell. He was so stupid, and even though it had been a month since he had obtained this spell, he still hadn't learned how to cast it successfully.
"Thunder Wave."
A low spell sounded behind Kessell, and a powerful sound wave tore through the air, forming a shock wave that knocked Kessell against the wall. The violent impact caused Kessell to vomit blood. Before he could understand what was going on, He fainted.
Eldruck withdrew his gesture of casting a spell and said sarcastically: "A waste who can't even cast [Thunder Wave] wants to be the master of a mage tower? What a wishful thinking."
The thin spotted wizard Dandiba said lifelessly on the side: "Throw him off the cliff ten towns away, so as not to be discovered."
Eldruck nodded and used [Teleportation] to throw Kessell under the cliff.
Aldruk smiled and walked out of the alley and mounted his horse. He was able to accomplish his goal so easily. He had to thank the stupid apprentice. Without him, they would not have had the chance to deal with a seventh-ring mage so easily.
Beneath the dark cliff.
The chill on his cheeks gradually woke him up from unconsciousness. Naturally, he opened his eyes, but what he saw was so cruel.
He found himself face down in the snow. Surrounded by towering mountains, the jagged peaks and thick snow reminded him of where he was, that they had left him at the Spine of the World.
Akal Kessell tried to lift his aching head from the snowdrift. The sun was shining in the sky, but the cruel cold wind drove away all the warmth of the sun. What's more, it was still winter, and he was only wearing a thin robe to resist the deadly cold wind.
They left him here to freeze to death in the snow.
Eldruk, the spotted wizard Dandiba, and others.
They never really wanted to give him the title of wizard.
"How stupid I am!" Kessell groaned. Guilt welled up in his heart, and images of the red wizard Mokai, the only person who truly respected him, kept popping up in his mind. He remembered the many happy experiences the wizard had given him. Mokai once turned him into a bird so that he could experience the feeling of flying freely, and also turned him into a fish so that he could explore the wonders of the deep sea.
But now, he buried it all with his own hands.
Kessell struggled to move through the snow. He didn't know why he was moving because he had nowhere to go. Eldruck threw him into a bowl-shaped pit filled with snow. His hands had been frozen to the point of being numb, and he couldn't even feel the coldness of his body. It was impossible for him to escape.
He tried to call upon the magical flames. He stretched his hands toward the sky and uttered a spell from his trembling mouth.
Nothing happened, not even a cigarette.
He just kept moving. His legs were in severe pain, and he felt like several of the toes on his left foot had been broken and fallen off. But he dared not take off his boots to prove the truth.
He began to circle the pothole again, following the footprints he had left. Suddenly he found himself in the center of the pothole. He didn't know why, and in his almost insane state, he didn't stop to figure it out. There was only a vast expanse of white in his eyes, the color of frozen snow. Kessell felt himself falling, the howling wind and icy snow sucking the heat from his body.
He felt the bite of ice on his cheek again, feeling that life had come to an end. Then he suddenly felt warm. It was barely noticeable at first, but the warmth grew steadily, something calling to him. Just beneath his body, buried in the snow. But even though it was blocked by layers of ice and snow, Kessell could still feel the warmth emanating from that thing.
He started digging. Even though it was impossible to tell how deep he dug, he dug for his life. Suddenly, he dug into a hard object and felt its warmth. Frantically clearing the snow from it, he finally tried to pull the thing out. He didn't know what he was seeing, maybe it was his insanity. In his frozen hands was something as neatly cut as an ice cube. The warmth it radiated penetrated Kessell's body, giving him a sense of rebirth.
Kessell had no idea what was going on, and he didn't care at all. At least now, he has hope of living, and that's enough. He hugged the crystal block tightly to his chest and leaned against the stone wall on the side of the pit, looking for a place where he could find a place to stay.
Kessell spent his first night at the Spine of the World on a rock where the snow had melted from the heat of the crystal. His pillow was the crystal, a mysterious crystal that emitted a fascinating purple light.
Akal Kessell slept peacefully, unaware of what was happening to him. All he knew and cared about was that he was still alive. But he will soon begin to take the hints given by the crystal. He would soon learn that he no longer had to be a lackey for the likes of Eldruk and Dandiba.
He would soon become Akhel Kessell, famous for his deeds, and all would kneel before him.
"Respect." He murmured in his sleep, his sleeping cheeks twisted and full of jealousy under the purple light.
Kessell woke up the next morning, a morning he thought he would never see again. The crystal protected him in the long night, not only keeping him from freezing to death. This morning Kessell felt as if he were a different person. Before that night, he simply wanted to live longer. But now he's starting to think about how he can be better off. Survival was no longer a problem, he felt full of strength in his body.
A white deer stood on the edge of the hole.
"Venison," Kessell said to himself. He held out his index finger towards his prey, murmuring a magical incantation, and felt a surge of power surge through his blood. A ray of white light shot out from his hand and hit his target accurately.
"Venison," he declared, and without thinking, he used his psychic power to lift the deer from the far side and fly it in front of him. Not even his mentor, the red wizard Mo Kai, has the ability to cast such a teleportation spell. The greedy Kessell did not stop to think about why he had power far beyond his capabilities. Some mysterious force affected his mind.
Now he had food, and the warmth of the crystal in his hands. But a wizard should have a castle of his own, he reasoned. A place where he could delve into his dark secrets without interruption. He looked at the crystal in his hand, hoping it would solve his problem, but found an identical crystal next to it.
As if by hint, Kessell understood the role he played in the fulfillment of his wish. He knew from the warmth and power flowing from the crystal that it was the original one, but the second crystal intrigued him as well, with a powerful magic surrounding it. He took the second crystal to the center of the hole and stood it up in the snow.
"Ibosan da Abda!" Even he himself didn't know why, but he read out a few words slowly.
Kessell involuntarily stepped back because he felt the power in the crystal expand rapidly. It absorbs sunlight into its depths. The area around the pit suddenly became dark, because the sunlight was absorbed by the crystal. Gradually, the crystal began to emit flashes of light from within.
Then the piece of crystal actually started to get bigger.
Its base continues to widen, occupying almost the entire pit. For a moment Kessell even feared that he would be crushed against the stone wall. As the bottom changes, the top of the crystal gradually stretches toward the sky, seeming to echo the power contained within it. At the end of the process, it still maintains the same shape as the crystal, but is tens of millions of times larger.
A crystal mage tower - [Krisha Tillis]. Although he doesn’t know why, Kessell just knows its name, just like he knows everything about the [Shattered Magic Crystal].
Yes, this crystal is called [Shattered Demon Crystal], and as if it came out of nothing, the information appeared in his mind.
"A powerful artifact"
Kessell looked at the purple crystal in his hand in fascination. He finally knew why he had such powerful magic power. Fortunately, he found an artifact that could give the caster powerful magic power in a desperate situation.
【Shattered Magic Crystal】.
Demiplane, Twilight Star.
Imrik, who had solved the black dragon, did not hesitate to use magic to harvest the life of the true dragon.
When the dazzling light of the [Extremely Effective Lightning Beam] in his hand penetrated the black dragon's scaly skull head, the undead army controlled by Hesan Nero Vitis also lost its leader, and the few surviving undead creatures gathered in the copper The furnace and crystal-shard monsters were completely destroyed.
Imric walked to the black dragon's lair. Dense flesh-like decay blocked the entrance. Imric raised a hand and chanted a spell in a low voice.
Second-level spell——[Battle Ram].
The spell with the same effect as the Ring of the Ram condensed a powerful force field attack, and the roaring force tore all the decay at the entrance of the cave.
Enduring the vomiting filthy stench, Imric found gems worth more than 10,000 gold coins and a spell book in the lair.
In the lair, there is a huge pentagonal diamond floating in mid-air. A complex magic circle is carved below it. The magic circle continues to generate an indestructible barrier.
"This is the Twilight Star." The Crystal Shard Monster coming from behind looked at the Silmarillion and said.
Imric looked at the beautiful Silmaril with enchanting light in front of him in fascination. He gently raised his hand and tried to touch it, but the barrier that prevented all objects from approaching also prevented him from touching it.
Seeing Imric's actions, Crystal Shard Monster said: "The essence of this enchantment is a small mysterious lock. Without the permission of the password, it cannot be lifted unless you use legendary magic to break it."
"Disab—Mistislok."
The Crystal Shard Monster read out the ancient Star Elf language. As the command was given correctly, the barrier of [Twilight Star] stopped running, and the beautiful Silmaril showed her wonderful veil in front of everyone.
Imric stepped forward and touched the Silmaril, and countless information was passed into his mind.
Through this central control system, he can change any transmission point of the teleportation device and reach any place within [Kingdom Tianyu], but before that, he needs to reach the place where the black dragon last teleported.
Without the help of the central control system, the black dragon must cut off the link between the teleportation device and the central system. The body uses the locator attached to the teleportation device. Therefore, Imrik needs to go to the place where the black dragon went last time and retrieve the locator. Re-bind the central system.
From then on, he can teleport the locator to any location through the teleportation device in the central system, and reach the location of the locator from the demiplane.
"Icewind Dale."
Imric looked at the location marked in the central system and murmured to himself. This bitter cold place in the ice and snow was a place he had never been to.
Dang, dang, dang~ The famous Broken Magic Crystal has appeared, and the protagonist will soon travel through time for the first time. After all, how can he team up with the famous righteous drow elf "Drizzt" if he doesn't make progress~
