Farewell Flower Festival

Chapter 86: Wedding Banquet

In the blink of an eye, it was the wedding day. The gate of the Duke's Mansion was decorated with lights and there was an endless stream of carriages and horses coming to express congratulations.

The wedding procession passed through the street in a grand manner, and the groom riding on his horse won the hearts of countless girls.

Han Lie and Shen Cheng were also in the wedding procession. The latter was called by the former. Han Lie joked with Wen Yunlan that at least half of the girls in the city would cry until dawn tonight, and asked him to help him with the wedding next time.

Shen Cheng curiously asked Han Lie if he was engaged and which girl he was engaged to. Han Lie smiled but said nothing. Shen Cheng was startled and stopped asking.

When the wedding procession arrived at the gate of the Prime Minister's Mansion, Shang Ye had already organized a group of cousins, brothers and good friends to build a human wall outside the gate, as if he was ready to defeat five or six generals.

Shang Ye found some strange questions from somewhere to embarrass Wen Yunlan, and refused to let him go if he couldn't answer them. Han Lie helped Wen Yunlan distract Shang Ye, while Shen Cheng and others helped the groom break through the siege and enter the mansion smoothly.

Here, Chaoyan and Han Min sneaked to the door together to take a look. Before they saw the wedding procession, they saw another carriage coming. Chaoyan recognized Luzhu following the carriage, and he and Han Min sneaked back again.

A servant hurried over to report, and Duke Wen came out with his wife to greet them personally, and led the prince and his wife to the main hall.

Mu Tianqi, Mu Tianchen and Mu Tianling were all here. Once Mu Tianyuan arrived, everyone would be here.

The four princes all came in person to congratulate, which shows how grand and solemn this wedding was.

After the wedding procession returned, the guests all came to the main hall to watch the ceremony.

Zhao Yan and Han Min found a good view to watch the ceremony, Shen Cheng and Han Lie also came over. Mu Tianling took a look over there and saw Han Lie deliberately standing next to Zhao Yan. His face was a little gloomy, and then Shen Cheng squeezed over to stand next to Zhao Yan, and he looked away.

Han Min was dissatisfied with Shen Cheng's behavior of pushing Han Lie away, so he pulled Chao Yan to the other side. Shen Cheng squeezed over again, and Chao Yan raised his hand and hushed, and the newcomer entered.

Seeing Wen Yunlan in her wedding dress, Chao Yan's eyes flashed with surprise, pure admiration, nothing else. When her eyes moved to the bride, her eyes also flashed with surprise, and she glanced in the direction of Mu Tianling, and saw that he was not staring at the girl like last time, his eyes were almost straight, and he behaved quite well.

However, she noticed that Mu Tianqi kept looking at the bride, and there was something wrong with his eyes.

As if she noticed Chaoyan's gaze, when Mu Tianqi looked at her, Chaoyan immediately looked away to look at the newcomer, acting as if nothing had happened.

Previously, at the birthday banquet at the Prime Minister’s residence, when Shang Qingrong played the piano to celebrate the birthday, Chao Yan noticed that the Second Prince seemed to be paying some attention to the girl. Now it seems that it was true. The Second Prince has a crush on the girl’s wife, and he really hides it well...

When Mu Tianyuan saw the bride, his eyes widened. Liu Sui coughed lightly, and he immediately retracted his gaze, acting as if nothing had happened.

Chaoyan looked at the two people bowing to heaven and earth, and unconsciously put herself into the role of the bride and Mu Tianling into the role of the groom. She blushed unconsciously and raised her hands to rub her slightly hot cheeks. This action happened to be seen by Mu Tianling. He curled the corners of his lips, as if he knew what Chaoyan was thinking.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds were sent to the bridal chamber. Han Lie called three people to go to the bridal chamber together. Chao Yan glanced in the direction of Mu Tianling and said that she wanted to go outside for some fresh air. Shen Cheng saw Chao Yan's little thoughts and also said that he wanted to go outside for some fresh air.

Qian'er, the maidservant beside Lin Rou, came to invite the two of them over, and Han Min pulled Han Lie to go to the bridal chamber first.

After Qian'er brought the two of them over, Chaoyan discovered that the Duke's wife was also here, and sitting next to her was a pretty girl, about fifteen or sixteen years old. She thought that this was most likely the Duke Wen's youngest daughter, Wen Xue, whom Lin Rou had mentioned before, who happened to have the same name as her.

Lin Rou praised Wen Xue, and Mrs. Wen also looked at Shen Cheng. Shen Cheng lowered his head, and Wen Xue also lowered her head.

Chaoyan felt that the air was full of awkwardness. Shen Cheng even looked at her for help, but she was helpless. Madam Wen was still talking. If she interrupted her rashly, she would probably give the Duke's wife the impression that she was uneducated. She had to wait for the Duke's wife to finish her words.

Fortunately, someone came to the rescue soon, and Duke Wen sent a servant to ask Madam Wen to go out and entertain the guests.

After coming out, Chao Yan whispered, "Brother, what do you think of the Wen family's sister?" Shen Cheng glanced around and whispered, "I don't like such delicate girls." Chao Yan whispered, "Then what kind do you like?" Shen Cheng blushed a little, and a heroic figure flashed through his mind. He had never seen such a free and easy girl, but it was a pity that he only met her once...

Chaoyan raised her hand and waved it in front of him, and Shen Cheng quickly changed the subject. This suspicious behavior made Chaoyan guess that her brother had someone he liked.

It was dark when we had the banquet.

Chaoyan first went to the bridal chamber to give the bride the gift she made herself. It was a pair of rouge boxes with cartoons she drew on them. There was a groom drawn on one lid and a bride drawn on the other. Although they were cartoons, they were very lifelike and very festive and lovely.

It was the first time that Shang Qingrong had seen such a painting. She found it novel and interesting. She liked Chao Yan's gift very much and asked her personal maid Gui Lu to send Chao Yan back to the banquet.

It was Chao Yan's first time to have a night banquet, and she felt it was quite interesting until she accidentally met a pair of eyes. The other person glanced at her and then looked away. There was a kind of scrutiny in his eyes, which made her feel a little uncomfortable.

Moreover, she recognized that face. It was Miss Liu who had visited the Lantern Festival with Mu Tianling before. She didn't know if it was her illusion, but she always felt that there was a bit of hostility in that scrutinizing gaze, which made her feel even more depressed. If Mu Tianling was next to her, she would definitely ask him to coax her, and if he didn't coax her well, she would beat him.

After the banquet, it was already late at night.

Chaoyan drank two more glasses of wine and felt a little dizzy. When she saw Mu Tianling, she stared at him intently.

Mu Tianling started to reflect on himself when she stared at him, wondering if it was because he didn't talk to her today.

He also wanted to be alone with her, but he didn't find the opportunity. He had planned to be alone with her after the ceremony, but she was called away. He had planned to be alone with her before the dinner, but she ran off to see the bride and didn't come back until the dinner started. After the dinner started, Shen Cheng stared at him like a prisoner, making him feel a little uncomfortable while eating.

Seeing Chao Yan staring at Mu Tianling without blinking, Shen Cheng quickly pulled her away.
