Farewell Flower Festival

Chapter 85 Cooking Noodles at Midnight

After returning, Shen Cheng took Chao Yan to Shen Ming's residence, and they sat in the yard polishing their swords.

Hearing footsteps, he sheathed his sword. After the two came over, Shen Cheng called him "Big Brother", and Chao Yan followed suit. Hearing Chao Yan calling him "Big Brother", Shen Ming had an unpredictable look on his face, as if he was a little surprised and a little uncomfortable. Before, the fake Shen Xue had never called him "Big Brother", but just called him by his name.

"Brother, this is what Xue'er bought for you." Shen Cheng placed the jar of wine on the table and said to Yan, "The owner of the wine shop said that this is an aged wine that was just moved out of the wine cellar a few days ago. We are lucky to have grabbed this last jar."

"Brother, let's have a drink together." Shen Cheng excitedly ran into the house to get the wine glass, leaving Chaoyan and Shen Ming in the yard. The atmosphere was a bit awkward. After all, they were not familiar with each other and didn't know what to talk about.

Soon Shen Cheng came out with a wine glass, and the awkward atmosphere eased.

Shen Cheng opened the wine jar and a strong aroma of wine wafted out.

Chao Yan could tell from her taste that the alcohol content of the wine was a bit high, and she didn't know if she could handle it.

Shen Cheng poured three glasses of wine, raised his glass and said, "This first glass is to celebrate the return of big brother." Shen Ming and Chao Yan also raised their glasses. The three of them clinked their glasses. Shen Cheng and Shen Ming drank them all in one gulp. Chao Yan felt a burning sensation in her throat after taking a sip. The aroma of wine rushed straight to her head, and she was drunk after two seconds.

During dinner, Shen He noticed that Chao Yan was not there and asked about it. Shen Cheng said guiltily that he was tired from playing outside and was still sleeping. Shen Ming also looked a little unnatural.

Lin Rou asked someone to make soup for Chaoyan, and also asked someone to tell Liu'er and Dong'er not to let Chaoyan sleep too late, as eating at night would easily cause indigestion.

When Liu'er and Dong'er woke up Chaoyan, it was already dark.

The two men asked her to get up and eat something, saying that Lin Rou had specially asked someone to make soup for her. Chaoyan said she was sleepy and wanted to sleep, and asked the two men to wake her up tomorrow morning. Then she pulled the quilt to cover her head and continued to sleep.

In the second half of the night, she woke up hungry and tiptoed out of bed to find something to eat. In the dark, she accidentally bumped into a stool and woke up Liu'er and Dong'er. Liu'er shouted "Princess?" and Chaoyan agreed. Dong'er lit the oil lamp. Chaoyan asked where the snacks bought during the day were. After Liu'er went to get them, Chaoyan ate two pieces of snacks. The two then advised her not to eat too much and to be careful of indigestion.

Chaoyan chatted with the two of them for a few words, ate two snacks, and let them go to sleep first. She went to the yard to take a walk to digest the food.

After walking in the yard, Chao Yan felt even hungrier and went to the kitchen wrapped in a cloak.

Two guards who were patrolling the mansion noticed smoke coming from the direction of the kitchen. Thinking there was a fire, they immediately rushed over to check, only to discover that it was Princess Chao Yan who was cooking noodles.

Chao Yan asked them if they were hungry, and if so, she would put more noodles in. The two were a little confused.

Liu'er and Dong'er found that there was no one in the yard, so they went to look for someone immediately. Then the news reached Lin Rou, and then Shen He, and then Shen Cheng and Shen Ming also heard the noise.

When the noodles in the pot were cooked, a group of people came over and saw Chao Yan standing by the stove with a bowl and chopsticks, preparing to scoop up the noodles.

……

During breakfast the next day, Shen Cheng was still joking about what happened last night. Chaoyan said that the noodles she cooked were delicious. Not only could she cook them, but she could also stir-fry or dry-mix them. Shen Cheng was stunned because he had never heard of stir-fried noodles or mixed noodles.

Shen Cheng asked her who she learned cooking skills from. Chaoyan said that she learned most of it from Eunuch Wu, and the rest was learned by herself.

Lin Rou talked about the marriage between the Duke's Mansion and the Prime Minister's Mansion, and mentioned that Duke Wen had a little daughter who was about the same age as Chao Yan, with the best looks and temperament, but she had not yet been engaged.

When Shen He looked over, Shen Cheng lowered his head and ate a bun.

Chaoyan changed the subject and said that she had made a gift for the newlyweds. Shen Cheng asked what the gift was, but Chaoyan didn't tell him, saying that she wanted to keep it mysterious.

After breakfast, Chaoyan prepared to go out to check out the store. When she arrived at the door, she found Shen Cheng and Shen Ming were there, as if they were waiting for her.

"Xue'er, brother wants to visit your store, let's go together." Shen Cheng said.

As soon as Chaoyan heard this, she knew it was fake and felt that her brother's motives were not pure.

"Brother, if you have something to do, go do it first," Shen Cheng replied on behalf of Shen Ming before she finished her words, "It's okay, let's go to the store."

On the way to the Jiuxingsi, Mu Tianling heard Qianfeng say that Chaoyan was in front. He pulled open the car curtain and looked forward, and saw Chaoyan walking with two other people. He glanced at Shen Cheng and saw nothing to worry about. His eyes fell on Shen Ming, and he seemed a little worried.

Chaoyan also saw Qianfeng and Feiyu. The carriage stopped when it passed by her. Mu Tianling pulled open the curtain and spoke to Chaoyan. They were interrupted by Shen Cheng as soon as they said a word.

Shen Cheng introduced Shen Ming to Mu Tianling and praised Shen Ming a lot, seemingly wanting Mu Tianling to give up.

Chao Yan now knew what her brother's motive was. She took a deep breath and said with a smile, "Brother, you also know the way. You can take me there first."

This overly friendly smile made Shen Cheng feel a little cold on his back. He immediately led the way for Shen Ming and the two of them left first.

Mu Tianling glanced back at Shen Ming's back, and when he turned around, he met Chao Yan's pair of smiling eyes, as if all his little thoughts were seen through. He tilted his eyes and asked casually, "Where are you going?" Chao Yan replied, "To the store." Then he said, "When Your Highness is free, let's go horseback riding together." Mu Tianling said, "I'm free in the afternoon." Chao Yan said, "Then I'll wait for Your Highness at the city gate."

When Chaoyan arrived at Huaxiangrong, Shen Cheng and Shen Ming were not there. When they came over, they saw Cuicui, the fake Shen Xue, was also in the store. Shen Ming said he had something to do and left first. Shen Cheng hesitated whether to go in and say hello, but after thinking about it, it was too embarrassing, so he wandered around for a while and left.

When she saw Chao Yan coming in, Cuicui hid behind, a bit like a mouse seeing a cat.

Feicui brought the account book to Chaoyan to see. Chaoyan asked about Cuicui's situation. Feicui said that she was quite efficient at work and wanted to learn how to make rouge from Amber a few days ago.

"If she wants to learn, teach her. It's always good to have many skills."

Seeing that the profits had been good these days, Chaoyan invited everyone to have lunch at Zhenxiu Tower and asked Amber to invite Cuicui as well.

Yu Bo took the initiative to stay and look after the store. Chao Yan announced that they would take a day off today and took everyone in the store to Zhenxiulou for dinner.

After dinner, Chaoyan went towards the city gate. Cuicui looked at her back curiously, and then was called away by Amber.

As soon as she arrived at the city gate, Chao Yan saw Feiyu and the carriage. After getting on the carriage, Feiyu drove out of the city.

After getting on the carriage, Chao Yan moved until she was next to Mu Tianling. Seeing that he was still resting with his eyes closed, she slowly leaned her head over. As soon as her head rested on his chest, he raised his hands and hugged her, with a slight smile on his lips.

The carriage stopped outside the city, and Qianfeng was waiting there with two horses.

When it was getting dark, Feiyu drove the carriage to the gate of the palace. As soon as Chaoyan got out of the carriage, she was pulled in by Shen Cheng. She could only wave goodbye to Mu Tianling.

The carriage stopped outside the door for a while. Mu Tianling gave an order and Fei Yu drove away in the carriage.
