Chapter 60: Soul-Returning Stone

Alison pursed her lips in annoyance at their interested looks.

"…Why not find a lucky person to try to step on the mine? After all, goblins are just magical creatures, not wizards."

Dumbledore shook his head, his deep blue eyes fixed on the Resurrection Stone, and his words implied that he was going to touch it first.

"No need, this stone should be fine."

After listening to what he said, Alison was silent for a moment, bit her index finger and took off one of her gloves, and the hand without the glove touched the Soul-Returning Stone before them.

Her body can be regenerated and replaced at any time as long as her soul is immortal. This is a trait inherited from the soul bodies of angels and demons.

The magic in this world, except for the Killing Curse, basically has no effect on the soul. If there really is a fatal curse, the best solution is for her to touch it first since she can change bodies.

The two elders looked slightly stunned.

Dumbledore sighed inwardly but didn't say it out loud. He just silently kept this warmth in his heart.

Nothing happened.

This is naturally the best outcome.

All those sins seemed to be burned away by the blazing fire.

Alison turned her face away with a cold expression and threw the holy vessel to them.

"…There's no curse, just play with it."

She relaxed slightly and took off her gloves.

Grindelwald took the gem and said, "You're just giving it to us so readily?"

Alison was puzzled: "I don't have any deceased person I want to meet, and I'm not interested in the army of Inferi... I remember that when you were young, you wanted to get this thing and create an army of Inferi?"

She plays the Skeleton Undead and looks down on the weakened version of the Inferi, and even competes for corpses.

Grindelwald laughed and handed the Resurrection Stone to his old lover next to him.

"Yes, I was very young then."

Dumbledore looked at the Resurrection Stone and gave a nonchalant warning: "You'd better not have such an idea now, Gale."

Grindelwald spread his hands: "I just want to study it."

Alison looked at the black diamond-shaped stone and spoke in a lazy tone with a hint of indifference.

"I remember turning it in my hand three times... is that right?"

Grindelwald also looked at Dumbledore, watching his confidant and lover spin the stone three times, just as they had studied the legends when they were young.

Only Dumbledore could see that after turning three times, the figures of his family members appeared around him, which were more real than souls but more unreal than living people.

They walked on the weeds, making slight noises, their frail bodies moving their steps as they stared at the already aged Dumbledore.

The memories of the parents who had almost become entities had loving and gentle smiles on their faces. Although Ariana was still shy, she looked at her older brother and the two strangers, one old and one young, beside them with some curiosity.

Percival was no longer the most impressive father in past memories, who had become extremely fierce because of hatred and anger, but his earlier, calmer and gentler self.

Kendra was no longer busy taking care of the children before her death, supporting a family alone. She smiled gently, and tears filled her eyes as she looked at her eldest son who had been suppressed all his life.

Ariana was still shy and introverted, but without the pale trance and collapse that had plagued her with the Obscurus and those painful memories.

Everything seemed to be frozen in their best moments and beautified.

Dumbledore looked dazed and looked at them quietly, tears slowly falling.

Those illusory figures that only he could see hugged him vaguely, and the family members expressed their love and longing for each other.

Dumbledore extended his hand and returned the hug.

He gradually began to smile, but tears continued to fall.

Alison moved closer to her father somewhat unnaturally, not disturbing her father who wanted to see his parents and sister. Grindelwald gently embraced her and remained silent.

Give him a chance to be alone.

Dumbledore spoke for a long time into the void, and listened for a long time.

At this moment, he was no longer the greatest wizard, the headmaster of Hogwarts, the patron saint of the British wizarding world, and the person everyone relied on.

At this moment, he was just a child of the Dumbledore family, the son of his parents and the big brother of his sister.

He was back home at this moment, at least at this moment.

His parents felt sorry for him but were also proud of him. His sister forgave him and told him to take good care of his second brother Aberforth, hoping that they would all live well and be happy every day.

The family members even looked at Grindelwald and Alison with curiosity and gentleness, and some of them teased Albus, who had always been humble and proud in the past.

How could a true soul possibly be able to peek into the current situation after so many years?

But at the very least, this illusion created based on memory is enough to soothe the tired and sad hearts of the living.

The deep blue eyes behind the old man's half-moon glasses were no longer as gentle and calm as usual when facing others, but were filled with the pure innocence and happiness of a child, with a hint of tears.

Dumbledore continued smiling until he finally turned to look at Grindelwald and Alison.

"let's go."

When he came over holding the Soul-Returning Stone, the tear marks on his face were still not dry, and even wet his neatly trimmed long beard, but his smile was quite warm.

Grindelwald also smiled slightly and patted Dumbledore's shoulder gently.

Dumbledore smiled as well, with obvious relief and nostalgia.

"Yes, I am very happy."

They looked at each other and smiled.

Then, Dumbledore lowered his head and looked at the little red-haired wizard again.

"Alison, I..."

A hint of tenderness appeared on his face.

"…Thank you."

Alison turned her face away awkwardly, looking defiant and wanton, and ignored him.

Dumbledore didn't expect her to respond and gently rubbed her head.

He put away the Soul-Returning Stone.

Alison blinked her blue eyes and raised her doubts.

“…Why don’t you keep using it?”

Dumbledore smiled, his voice soft but firm: "Because I know I will never lose them again."

Alison was confused:?

However, Dumbledore did not explain anything further, but just took her hand.

"go home."

Alison was even more confused: "...You adults are really weird. If you can create an image, just do it. I will keep using it."

Dumbledore just smiled and listened to his daughter's lively chatter without retorting, nor did he rush to grab her arm and Apparate her.

Alison muttered, "Just treat it as a magical portrait. Isn't it good to have someone lively and excited?"

Upon hearing this, Grindelwald chuckled like an elder and taught the little wizard.

"Everyone has their own choice."

Alison pursed her lips, frowned, and asked a question: "…Are you going to hold it all the time?"

Dumbledore shook his head: "Although the Resurrection Stone is not dangerous, it is not good to be in contact with it for a long time."
