HP Shavings Wizard

Chapter 15 London

The sky was clear and cloudless.

Of course this is impossible, this is a foggy city.

Near the international airport with heavy traffic, car exhaust has a unique smell. Photochemical pollution makes the distance gray and visibility is very low.

Grindelwald frowned in disgust: "...The air in London is still as bad as ever."

Alison, who was originally very excited to go shopping, also lost interest, and was depressed by the bad air: "Maybe there are too many cars here. Should we go to Diagon Alley first? Or should we go to see the savior Mr. Potter who hasn't started school yet?"

Grindelwald said nonchalantly: "Let's go see the Savior first."

Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey, London.

Most of the people living here are middle class. Two-story detached houses are neatly arranged, with lawns or flower beds in front of the houses.

No. 4 has a small garden and a greenhouse, and there is a thin black-haired boy mowing the lawn inside. From a distance you can see the boy's tattered and ill-fitting clothes, and it is obvious that he is not having a good life.

The two of them passed Privet Drive on a tour. Grindelwald watched with interest and said calmly, "... Is this the Boy-Who-Lived?"

Alison was about to answer when another fat, big-eared Muggle boy ran out of the house and started to boss the man mowing the lawn around. The noise was a bit loud, but the adults in the house kept laughing and talking, and it was obvious that they didn't intend to care.

Grindelwald narrowed his eyes and looked at the Muggles bullying the little wizard with some displeasure.

"…this is his Muggle relative?"

"The love protection spell left by his mother must be around blood relatives regularly to remain effective." Alison nodded, explained and added, and hesitated for a moment, "...Didn't Albus realize that this kind of growing environment is considered bad now?"

Grindelwald raised an eyebrow: "…Why do you ask?"

Because Dumbledore is a good man, it is obviously impossible for him to use such abusive behavior to influence a child's character and make him obedient.

This is something that only a dark wizard like Grindelwald would do, especially when it comes to the hatred he constantly instilled into the past Credence Barebone (Aurelius Dumbledore).

Alison weighed her words carefully, and spoke more tactfully: "In the late 19th century, many Muggle children were half-naked and had to work illegally or go to war... As for the wizarding world, well, I heard that his past was a bit...bad?"

Grindelwald said calmly: "…It's really not good. It's much worse than here."

A father in Azkaban, a mother who supports the family, a hot-tempered and reckless brother, and a sister who loses control of herself from time to time...

The wizarding world still follows some customs from the Middle Ages. Most women become housewives after marriage and no longer earn money. The family relies on their husband's salary to support the family.

Typical examples are Narcissa Malfoy and Molly Weasley. Regardless of whether they are rich or poor, housewives are unlikely to work. Of course, this is also a kind of invisible inequality. Married women change their surnames, and girls in ancient families basically have no inheritance rights. Even if there is no male heir, it is men from other families who inherit, not girls in the family.

In the late 19th century, the life of such a single-parent family was hard to imagine. The younger sister was bullied by several Muggle boys because she used magic and became an Obscurial. The father wanted revenge but was unwilling to tell the Ministry of Magic about the reason and was imprisoned in Azkaban. The Dumbledore brothers were often discriminated against at school because they were the sons of a murderer.

The young wizard resisted magic due to psychological trauma, and this negative emotion gave rise to a parasite - the Obscurus, an aggregate of black magic power, which would greatly consume the host's vitality.

The host of the Obscurus is called the Obscurus. Once the emotions get out of control, the Obscurus living in the body will erupt, turning the Obscurus into a violent and powerful black mist with incredible destructive power, attacking the object that caused the emotional out-of-control and everything around it.

According to records, the Obscurials basically did not survive past the age of ten under the influence of the Obscurus. The only two who survived longer were two of Dumbledore's bloodline, which may have something to do with their strong wizarding bloodline and magical talent. When Credence, who had just reached adulthood, transformed into an Obscurus for the first time, he suppressed the middle-aged Grindelwald, and the American Ministry of Magic had to send out almost all of its elite wizards to attack before the Obscurus exploded and escaped.

The Ministry of Magic classifies the Obscurus as the highest Class A disaster. This kind of out-of-control thing often makes a large number of Muggles aware of the abnormality. Once the Obscurus is found, even if they are victims, they will be locked up in the hospital and supervised until death.

Next door to the Dursleys, Mrs. Figg, a Squib from the Order of the Phoenix, noticed a stranger who stopped on the street to watch a child fight. An old man with a little girl of typical Celtic appearance, wearing Muggle casual clothes... Although she thought they were just a grandfather and grandson passing by, the conscientious and enthusiastic old lady decided to go downstairs to take a look.

Grindelwald noticed Mrs. Figg's gaze and smiled and nodded to her, like an old-fashioned gentleman.

Alison tilted her head curiously, "Do you want her to tell Albus, Dad? Or do you want her to modify her memory later?"

Grindelwald answered casually: "…Don't worry about her for now."

So I wanted to scare my dad by reporting the dud.

"I must have inherited your bad taste for teasing and provoking others, especially when I try to show off my presence in front of the person I like..." Alison complained slowly, thinking of how this man kept making trouble to attract his father's attention in his middle age.

Grindelwald chuckled: "...You can also understand this as the charm of our family."

Alison suddenly asked, "Will it make Albus's father crazy?"

Grindelwald's smile widened.

The single Squib Mrs. Figg finally came over to ask the old and young couple, who were dressed in Muggle casual clothes, what they were doing.

Grindelwald looked at her calmly, and greeted her in a gentle, polite but distant way. Alison seemed a little shy, and timidly hid behind him and peeked in.

Grindelwald smiled and said, "...My granddaughter...is a little shy. This time I brought her from Germany to England for a trip."

Alison almost laughed out loud in the background.

Grindelwald caught a glimpse of Mrs. Figg's vigilant look and knew that she was suspicious, but he wanted her to report it to Dumbledore.

The two then went to the Leaky Cauldron.

Alison was obviously disgusted by the smoke-filled, noisy, dark, shabby and dirty bar.

She had experienced bloody or dirty places in the game world before, but those were all outdoor battle sites, while this place also provided catering services. It didn't require much comfort, but at least it could be cleaned with a few more cleaning spells. Moreover, this was the entrance to Diagon Alley, one of the facades of the British wizarding world.

Grindelwald laughed and gently touched his daughter's head: "...You are such a spoiled girl."

Alison pursed her lips and retorted, "I just prefer cleanliness. This place is too dirty, and this is a place for dining and drinking. It would be nice to use a few more cleaning spells."

Grindelwald said meaningfully: "But this is the place that is closest to the life of lower-class wizards, isn't it?"

Alison looked around, thinking of the World War II mustache and was speechless: "…Are you trying to give an impromptu pub speech?"

Grindelwald curled his lips, a smile flashed across his eyes: "If you want."

Alison pulled him to the back door of the tavern dissatisfiedly: "I don't want to! I just want to go to Florin's Ice Cream Shop to eat dessert quickly!"

The old man did not Apparate directly to Diagon Alley, but brought her to the bar. It was definitely out of his bad taste that he wanted to create some sense of ritual for the little wizard's first visit to Diagon Alley.
