Black Naruto: Shadow Moon
Chapter 1 Past and Present Life
My name is Li Yingyue, and I am an ordinary young person. After graduating from college, like most of my peers, I became a nine-to-five worker.
My life is simple and regular. Every day I go from home to work and then back home.
Although this kind of life is a bit dull, I really enjoy this peace and tranquility.
I like this simple and pure lifestyle, without too much pressure and worries, and I can freely manage my time.
However, fate did not seem to intend for me to live in such a peaceful way forever.
A sudden war disrupted my peaceful life and changed the fate of many people.
In these turbulent times, everyone needs to make choices.
I was no exception. I was recruited as a volunteer and was responsible for some logistical work.
This means that I will leave the familiar city, go to an unfamiliar place and start a brand new journey.
Sometimes, I can't help but imagine that if life could remain this plain, without grand plots, without thrilling adventures, but with only the trivialities and boredom of day after day, how wonderful it would be! Although such days are ordinary, they can bring people an inexplicable sense of security.
However, reality is always cruel. The shadow of war always looms over our world, making people feel uneasy and fearful.
Every day countless lives are lost in the flames of war and innocent people suffer pain and torture.
How I wish all this could end and bring about true peace.
But the war seems to never end, and each conflict brings more destruction and casualties.
And I am exhausted, physically and mentally. Perhaps death is the ultimate relief.
It was an ordinary day. The sun was high in the sky, shining on the earth, bringing a touch of warmth and brightness.
However, for me, today is destined to be an extraordinary day.
As a logistics and transportation personnel in charge of a highly confidential research institute, my life is usually peaceful and regular.
Every day, I drive a truck and deliver the necessary materials to the institute on time.
But today, as I was driving down the road as usual, I noticed something unusual - a blinding white light flashing in the distance, as if something was exploding.
The light was so bright that I had to squint to avoid being stabbed.
At the same time, a strong curiosity surged in my heart, making me want to know what exactly caused this phenomenon.
Just as I was trying to figure it out, a loud bang was heard, shaking the whole world like a bolt from the blue.
It was a creepy sound, accompanied by a powerful shock wave that swept over in an instant.
I felt a huge force, as if a car hit me at a very fast speed and threw me into the air.
Then everything became blurry and my consciousness faded into darkness.
When I opened my eyes again, everything in front of me was blurry, and it took a while for everything to become clear.
I saw the dazzling light from the surgical light above my head, and the light seemed to penetrate my eyes.
I felt as if my body was thrown into a blazing fire. It was so hot that every cell in my body was shaking in pain.
I tried to move my fingers, but found that I couldn't move at all. My body seemed to be tightly bound by an invisible force.
I began to check my physical condition and found that my skin was covered with blisters and ulcers, obviously caused by severe burns.
I tried hard to calm myself down, but the fear and anxiety in my heart became more and more intense.
I noticed that my body was full of various tubes connected to different fluids, and there were various medical instruments around me.
The instruments made faint sounds, as if to tell me that they were working hard, trying to save my life.
"you're awake"
A man who looked like a doctor looked at me with his calm and serious eyes.
"You are lucky that you did not die in the first wave of nuclear explosion. Almost everyone outside the base was dead at that time." The doctor said heavily, his voice full of helplessness and regret.
I lay quietly on the hospital bed, my body surrounded by various instruments, my face as pale as paper.
An endless sadness and despair surged in my heart, as if the whole world was collapsing in an instant.
"But you are also very unfortunate. Due to nuclear radiation, the genes in your entire body are collapsing. It cannot be cured with current medical means." The doctor continued, with a hint of pity in his eyes.
I listened silently, my heart filled with pain and unwillingness.
I had thought I could escape death, but now I found myself in a far more terrible situation.
My body was gradually breaking down and modern medicine was powerless to help.
I thought about my past life, and those beautiful memories now seem so distant and unreal.
I had dreams and hopes, but now they are gone. I don't know how to face this reality, and I don't know what the future holds.
At this moment, I felt so alone and helpless. I knew that my time was running out and I had so much to do.
But what can I do? Can I just accept this cruel fate silently? No! I am not willing to give up just like that.
Even when my life is about to end, I will try to find a glimmer of hope.
Even if there is only a one in ten thousand chance, I will try to defeat the disease.
I want to leave something worth remembering in my life, no matter what the cost.
"Have you heard of Digital Life Technology?"
Digital life technology? It is the technology that can upload human consciousness to a computer! Is this technology still in the concept stage of science fiction? Could it be that it has already been put into practical use?
"Have you ever heard of the technology that allows human consciousness to be uploaded to a computer?"
"Yes, I am a researcher of digital life technology. Your current condition is incurable. Your DNA is shattered. In a few days, you will die painfully due to genetic collapse. The only way for you to survive is to upload your consciousness. Are you willing to participate in the digital life project?"
"Do I have any other choice? There is only one way to survive, isn't it?"
"I am willing to participate in the consciousness uploading experiment!"
"It's a wise choice. I will prepare a consciousness uploading experiment for you," the researcher said with a smile, with a hint of subtle excitement and anticipation in his voice.
He knew what this decision would mean to the subjects, but he also understood that it would be a process full of challenges and unknowns.
However, he believed in the power of science and firmly believed that this experiment could bring new hope and possibilities to mankind.
