Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 94 Crossing the Boundary
Li Xueyue wished she wasn’t this ignorant, naive little girl pretending to be a confident woman. She wished she had the power to shake him, just as he had shaken her whole world. She wished she wasn’t so weak and powerless in front of him.
He always used her weaknesses against her. Even now, he knew she was afraid of him. Even now, he knew she wanted him to leave. But he never listened to her simple requests. If he couldn't maintain even the most basic respect, what was stopping him from destroying her? What was stopping him from leaving her when he was done with her? Who was going to stop him from doing whatever he wanted?
A formidable man, whose mercy she must beg.
"If you don't leave, I'm going to scream." Li Xueyue finally said.
"Snow Moon——"
"How shameless can you be?!" she shouted, her eyes pleading with him, but her pride could not do it.
"This is my room, my private space! You have no right to come in here and ask for things from me."
He was insulted by her words. It was all written on his cold face and cold eyes. His chin trembled, and his pride and self-esteem were obviously hurt. “I just want to help.”
"I never asked for it."
“Why are you so stubborn?!” He finally raised his voice, immediately alarming the guards outside.
They couldn't break into her room, but they could knock on her door. "Miss, are you okay in there?"
Li Xueyue sighed. She didn't know whether she was relieved or angry. "Let's go."
"Why are you like this?" Wen Jinkai asked. "When I first met you, you were so... cute and timid--"
"The image of me in your mind is not what I should fulfill." Li Xueyue told him coldly.
"Xueyue, don't jump to conclusions. Just listen to me!"
The guard asked softly again, "Miss, is there any problem? Can we go in?"
Suddenly, Li Xueyue closed the distance between them and rushed at him with a ferocity she had not expected. The force of her fierce presence was enough to overwhelm him. It was a shocking discovery that she was capable of such a dangerous expression, and her hazel eyes were full of menace.
"I understand everything now," she said solemnly. "You like me for my so-called purity and straightforwardness. You want me to be charming, but superficial - a gentle soul who sways for you, a witty and elegant little thing, dazzling, but cold and indifferent to everyone except you." ".
In a thousand years, I would never have thought that her words would be so rude and precise, just right but ruthless. In life, some things are always better left unsaid.
"You've crossed the line," he growled, shockingly vicious.
If she continued to irritate him with her stubbornness and cruel words, she would be courting death. If only he knew she didn't mind knocking on death's door.
"Now you know how I feel," Li Xueyue retorted, her tone restrained and stern.
The guards were restless. They debated the idea of breaking down the door. The last protocol to follow was that they would kick the door off its hinges. "My lady—"
"I'm fine, I've taken care of it." Li Xueyue turned around and shouted, with bitter control in her eyes.
Just when Xueyue thought she had lost control, she controlled herself with one sentence. She didn't need to use brutal actions to prove her point. Words were her weapon.
Wen Jinkai took a deep breath, trying to regain his composure and patience with her. She thought she was as fierce as a tiger, but in fact, she was just a timid cat who needed the right treatment to open up. He understood the pain in her eyes, her fear of letting anyone in, and the things she had never told.
"I don't care about the version of you I created in my head, I care about the version of you that is in front of me today and from now on," he told her, his fingers twitching as they gently stroked her face.
He remembered how her eyes had trembled unconsciously when he touched her. He wanted to see that expression again, the defenseless girl sitting on his bed, telling him her wishes without fear.
Li Xueyue shook her head slowly. "That's impossible."
"Xueyue, I am willing to learn--"
"Just like you would marry another woman for the union of this country."
Wen Jinkai narrowed his eyes. "What did the emperor tell you? What empty rumors filled your ears and deceived your brain?"
"Princess Han Jian, I heard that she rushed out of your room pulling her clothes."
"Who told you this?" Wen Jinkai hissed, reaching out to grab her shoulders to help her regain some sense. She shook her wrist and pushed his hand away with her backhand.
"does it matter?"
“Yes. The information was provided without context.” Wen Jinkai touched his rejected hand, not expecting her to reject him so quickly. She was not as easy to conquer as he had initially thought, but he liked the challenge.
"Oh? Let me guess." Li Xueyue looked at him in disbelief. "The royal family sent her to your chambers, hoping that she would seduce you to marry her. You threatened to chop her into pieces and send her back to Han Jian. Then she was scared away by your absurd behavior."
Wen Jinkai blinked rapidly, staring at her as if she could predict the future—or look back at the past. She was very perceptive and accurately deduced what had actually happened.
"Actually, yes. That's what happened."
"But you still have to keep her in your house," she deadpanned.
"She has nowhere else to go," he countered.
“Oh, the princess has nowhere to go.” Li Xueyue rolled her eyes and threw her hair over her shoulders.
She hadn't realized that the droplets from her wet hair had run down her nightgown, revealing a damp patch that he forced himself not to look at, especially as it ran along the right side of her breast.
"You can't be so selfish. Aren't women supposed to support each other?" Wen Jinkai sneered, his hands on his hips, like a disapproving mother. He pursed his lips, his eyes swept from her eyes to her hair.
"What are your plans for Princess Hanjian?"
"What are your plans with Commander Han Jian?"
Li Xueyue glared at him and said, "What are you? A parrot?"
"What are you? A parrot?" he mimicked in a high-pitched voice, scrunching up his face to imitate her expression.
"You pissed me off."
"That's right." Wen Jinkai had a blank expression on his face. He turned around and looked at the windowsill again.
"Finally," Li Xueyue retorted, watching him lean half his body against the car window, calculating the possibility of falling to his death.
"I can almost see your hands itching to push me out the window."
"Oh my God! How did you know?" Li Xueyue said in the calmest voice.
“If you can climb up, you should be able to climb down.”
"Do you want me to fall to death?" Wen Jinkai rolled his eyes, thinking that as long as he leveraged his body properly, he wouldn't hurt himself if he put his foot into the gap.
"Is that a problem?" she scoffed.
He glared at her fiercely and she glared back at him.
"Don't trip on your way down the hill," she said gruffly.
"I can say the same thing when you go to hell." Wen Jinkai teased, jumped out of the window, and disappeared with one movement.
Li Xueyue didn't even run to the window to check her situation. She just stood on the ground with her arms crossed, full of provocation. After a second, he leaned out and said, "You can at least check if I'm dead."
"As a commander, you are very afraid of death."
"I'm only worried about a painful death." Wen Jinkai rolled his eyes and pursed his lips into a thin line.
He nodded at the can. "If it leaves a bruise, use it. Please. It will help you, I promise."
“Don’t ever make a promise to me.” Li Xueyue said reluctantly. She hoped she wouldn’t reveal more about herself. She gave him an inch, and he would go a mile.
Wen Jinkai paused for a moment, examining her serious and solemn expression. "One day, Xiaolu, I will heal you."
"I don't need to be fixed, I am perfect the way I am."
"Well, I'll make you more perfect."
"As if I will keep you in my life long enough to change me." Li Xueyue's expression was firm, and she wanted to stop him for as long as possible.
"We never know what the future will be like," Wen Jinkai replied, and then his head disappeared into the night.
Li Xueyue suddenly despised the moonlight. It cast an angelic hue on the porcelain jar, bathing it in a glorious glow. She placed the jar on the dressing table and stared at it for a long time. Eventually, she decided that it was more beautiful to be covered in dust than to be used.
She climbed into bed wordlessly, tossed and turned, and finally fell asleep. She didn't know that what she needed most was this beauty sleep, because tomorrow would not be a good day.
