Wang Qianghao whistled. "Now that's a soldier."

The commander didn't know he was holding his breath until he let it out. He felt as if a boulder had been lifted from his solid shoulders. His heart finally began to beat again. Even so, he couldn't sit still. She was hurt.

"You are too reckless." Li Daojun frowned, his face full of disapproval. He put his hand on the commander's shoulder and said, "What's wrong with you? This is not your usual behavior."

Wen Jinkai kept shaking off his mentor's hand and looked at Li Xueyue. She was very tired, but there were still two rounds to play.

"You need to learn to respect—"

"That's enough," Wen Jinkai growled, walking past his mentor and sitting down again.

Lord Li Daojun sighed. He was like a failed father who didn't bother to pay attention to his rebellious son. "If I had the chance, I should have been more respectful to you. Now, I have an unyielding kid as my apprentice."

He glanced at the terrible sword hanging from Wen Jinkai's waist. "Well, what should I do? The dwarf is so successful, I wish I could just beat him-"

"Stop monologue." Wen Jinkai frowned and turned his attention back to Li Xueyue who was taking a short break. As soon as she finished drinking water, the drums sounded, heralding the start of the next round. He frowned and decided that there would be a longer break in next year's competition.

"You should be training, not leisurely drinking tea and watching the battle. Why are you watching it?" Li Taojun turned around and looked at the commander.

"One day, I will teach you a lesson for your rude behavior."

"The students have already mastered the teacher, I wish you good luck in class." Wen Jinkai showed a sinister smile.

Li Taojunjun stiffened when he heard this and smiled slyly. "We'll see." His eyes stayed on the tournament and he sat back in his chair.

As he said, no one could be prepared for the catastrophe that befell the Commander. A catastrophe that would turn his entire world upside down.

"Mr. Li Chenyang has raised a capable child." The emperor commented after Xueyue won the third round. She was a little out of breath, but it was easy to adjust. A short three-minute break allowed her to return to the tent. With three consecutive wins, she was a formidable opponent.

Wen Jinkai analyzed her moves for three rounds and was unable to pinpoint her technique. She deftly adjusted between kicking and punching. Every move was executed seamlessly.

Her only problem was defense. Sometimes she didn't know how to recover from defensive punches and kicks. It was nothing now, but still dangerous. If she wanted, he wouldn't mind teaching her and honing her skills.

"I didn't know my brother had another daughter." Li Taojun smiled slyly. His hazel eyes were full of suspicion. He analyzed Li Xueyue again. She must be from the Li family. Judging from her features, it was hard not to notice this.

His eyes widened briefly. As her face became clearer, he suddenly realized a startling fact.

Li Daojun's hands were shaking. His heart sank to the bottom. No...

"We didn't know until yesterday." The Emperor smiled, but it was hard to understand what he was thinking. He always hid his feelings behind a cheerful and friendly mask.

He did not reveal the fact that he had met Li Xueyue two years ago and formally introduced her as a distant niece. Now, she was announced as their daughter. This was very interesting to him, so he decided to let the events unfold on their own.

"Well, it obviously looks like the Li family." Gu Feiying said.

She tilted her pretty little head and continued, "Actually, King Li Tao, she looks a lot like you. Don't you think it's funny?"

Seeing that the duke didn't answer, she continued: "Well, she is your brother's daughter, so I'm not surprised by the resemblance. The only problem is... she doesn't look like Duchess Li Qixing, which is a pity." \"

No one knew whether she said this intentionally. It was obviously hinting that Li Xueyue might be an illegitimate daughter. It was a shame for a glorious family. If this matter were to spread, Li Xueyue's reputation would be burned to ashes.

"Princess Gu, please watch your tongue." Commander Wen Jinkai was furious, his eyes blazing with fire.

The poor woman could only shrink back into her chair. He was twice her size, but she could not help but obey him. His glare seemed to foreshadow her cruel and slow death.

Concubine Gu Feiying inserted her fingers into her palms and looked at her husband, the emperor. He ignored her and focused his attention on the queen, handing her a piece of cake and then stroking her hand affectionately.

"I'm just expressing my opinion."

"No one asked for it." Wen Jinkai had a blank expression and curled his lips in disgust.

\"I-\"

"Who gave you the right to speak nonsense?" Wen Jinkai said sternly.

Instantly, her mouth closed. She felt her heart rise to her throat as his hand briefly touched the hilt. Her eyes widened as his fingers seemed to wrap around it.

"How dare you speak to my mother in this tone?" Wang Longhe frowned, "Jin Kai, you are going too far. She is the imperial concubine!"

"She is a mistress without authority. Why should I lower my status for her?" Wen Jinkai raised his eyebrows, asking the Fourth Prince to give a serious explanation.

Wang Longhe struggled to refute and roared: "You are just a talker. You are just a deposed prince who killed his mother and came into this world. You should be ashamed!"

"That's enough!" the Queen hissed, her nostrils on fire. "How shameless of you to insult the dead!"

"I don't--"

"You dare to talk back to me now?" The Queen glared at Gu Feiying with disgust. "Like mother, like son. Both of you lack respect."

Wang Longhe opened his eyes wide in shock. He had not expected, nor had he witnessed the queen lose her temper. He knew that she looked down on his mother, Concubine Gu Feiying, but she had never scolded them in public like this.

The Emperor sighed. "Why do you have to argue with a child?" he said, frowning. "I will not tolerate such disrespectful quarrels. If you can't all get along like a real family, then get out of my sight."

Wang Longhe tried to stay calm. He glanced at his pale mother and frowned. She was disrespected in public, but the emperor sided with the two-faced queen. He would not tolerate this.

"Fine," he growled, then stood up and stormed off, much to his mother's horror.
