The queen couldn't help but look at Xueyue in disbelief. She was always good at hiding her emotions, but this time she was caught off guard.

Did the prince really want to allow a foreigner to express his opinions? What about at a round table meeting of all places? For all they knew, Li Xueyue's thinking was probably influenced by the morals she grew up with in Wuyi. It would be unwise to let a foreigner intervene in the discussion.

"Are you sure about this?" the Queen asked. "The Crown Prince actually gave you such permission?"

Li Xueyue blinked rapidly. She nodded slowly. "If you are worried that my opinion may be biased towards Wuyi, your majesty, please rest assured that my intention is for the greater good of the Han people."

The Queen smiled patiently, trying to hide her hesitation. "The people of the Round Table are so cruel. Are you sure you can withstand such scrutiny?"

Li Xueyue blinked again. Wasn’t the Queen also going to participate in the round table discussion? She had high hopes that someone like her would not have any doubts when handling the talks.

"Thank you for your concern, but it's not necessary." Li Xueyue said.

"How can we be sure that you will not make plans to harm our country?" A maid spoke up, and the bell of consent rang.

“Exactly. I wouldn’t be surprised if the idea you proposed looked like a suggestion but was actually a strategy to hurt Han Jian.”

"There must be a reason why the Five Counties don't allow their women the freedom to do as they please."

The corner of Li Xueyue's mouth twitched, but she glanced sideways and ignored the sneers. She noticed that there were actually lily pads on the pond. She admired the small ripples in the water as the fish approached the surface.

What a beautiful day outside. Too bad it was ruined by the quarrelsome birds.

Seeing that she didn't respond, the maids hesitated for a moment before chasing after her.

"Princess Li, it is really rude to ignore the person who is talking to you..."

"That's right." One of them said, and then turned to the queen. "Princess, I'm afraid her silence is due to her guilty conscience. Princess Li does have the intention to harm Han Jian."

The queen looked at the quiet princess. She could understand her son's favor for this girl. The crown princess looked weak, but in fact she was tenacious. Even in the face of a storm, she remained calm.

"I believe that the members of the Round Table will not be so easily swayed." The Queen said finally.

The Queen was tired of hearing the maids' talks. For some reason, she missed the Crown Princess's quiet and demure voice.

But she understood the palace maids' concerns. If outsiders infiltrated the Han Dynasty, especially from within, it would be very dangerous.

"I agree, Your Majesty," a small voice finally said.

Li Xueyue was startled when she heard this. She saw a new person from the corner of her eye. This woman was not present when she met the queen and the palace maids last time. Her breath stagnated. She felt the wind blowing out of her body.

Li Xueyue had never seen such a charming person. The voice of this woman was like a siren that lured men to their death. It was mature, yet youthful.

Her silky hair was loosely braided to one side, showing off her health and shine, and a flower barrette was strategically placed to enhance her ethereal face.

"Those who make up the round table are wise and skilled. We must not forget that your majesty is also part of the discussion. Nothing can surpass your majesty," she mused.

Li Xueyue had no idea what to say or how to react. She had already planned what she was going to say next, but suddenly, her mind went blank. It was hard to concentrate when the other person was so charming.

Li Xueyue would not be surprised if this woman had the title of 'Cold Sword Beauty'.

"Indeed, Madam Ge." The Queen said with a smile. "When will you arrive?"

Mrs. Ge lowered her head. "Just now, Your Majesty. I remember that you like to drink tea here very much, um," she said with a smile.

The Queen clasped her hands together. "You always make the best tea."

Mrs. Ge blushed when she heard the Queen's words. "Please, you humble me, Your Majesty."

Hearing Mrs. Ge's answer, the Queen smiled slightly, and her attention fell on the tray in the latter's hand.

"Let the maids handle this matter," she said, and one of them stepped forward and took the burden off of Madam Ge.

All this time, Li Xueyue watched Mrs. Ge gradually walk away.

"It's okay, Your Majesty. I chose to bring this here, so I should bear this burden." Madam Ge said thoughtfully. She introduced the maids with a grateful smile.

The Queen smiled and said, "As kind as ever." She turned her head and suddenly remembered the Crown Princess who was standing there with them.

"Oops, it must be because I'm getting old that I forgot to introduce you two," said the Queen.

She gestured to Madam Ge. "Princess Li, this is Madam Ge Beining, the daughter of my best friend."

Li Xueyue tried hard to suppress her shock. Mrs. Ge Beining lowered her head, lifted one side of her skirt, and lowered her body.

"Princess Li, nice to meet you. I've heard a lot about you." Mrs. Ge Beining said.

Li Xueyue smiled and nodded. The only people she had to kneel down to were the emperor and the empress.

"Now that you are here, Princess Li," the Queen said. "You should have a cup of Madam Ge's tea. Her technique is extraordinary."

Li Xueyue wanted to refuse, but this was the second time she had said "no" to the Queen. If she denied it again, the Queen would become suspicious. So she forced herself to nod.

"Then I must give it a try." Li Xueyue said.

"Princess Li, I'm deeply sorry." Madam Ge Beining said in a deep voice. "I only brought enough teacups for the queen and the maids."

Li Xueyue was a little embarrassed. She should have let Mrs. Ge Beining bring it up first instead of appearing so eager. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, she kept smiling.

“That’s all right,” she said. “I have to finish writing my proposal.”

"Oh, but." Madam Ge Beining suddenly perked up. "Princess Li, have a cup of tea. This is your first time trying it."

Li Xueyue felt that Madam Ge Beining was talking in circles. But maybe it was just her paranoid remarks. She brushed it off and shook her head. She would rather not be here.

"Ms. Ge, don't worry, there will always be a next time," she said.

It was hard for Li Xueyue to keep smiling, especially when the Queen was staring at her. It seemed that the Queen wanted to know what was going on in her mind. She didn't understand the reason.

"Princess Li, I'm deeply sorry." Madam Ge Beining said with a worried look on her face. "I was not prepared. Please let me make up for it."

Li Xueyue shook her head. "Don't worry about that."

"Oh but..."

"It's all right, Madam Ge," the Queen consoled her, and she placed her hand on Madam Ge's shoulder in understanding.

"It was an unintentional mistake," she continued. "The Crown Princess has pardoned you, but you are always so stubborn."

Mrs. Ge smiled shyly. "Yes, His Majesty always said that this is a bad habit of mine."

The Queen laughed. "Yet you have never changed. My dear, what shall I do with you?"

Li Xueyue couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed. It was as if she had barged into a private conversation. She signaled the maids to pack up their things.

"See you next time, Your Majesty." Li Xueyue said.

"Ah, yes," the Queen said, almost as if she had forgotten that they were not alone.

It was hard to focus on other things, especially with Madam Ge present. Everyone was always mesmerized by the beautiful woman. Even the maids dared not interrupt. They lowered their heads and looked away.

Li Xueyue found all this very strange. Why did these women suddenly become quiet when Mrs. Ge appeared? Were they all frightened by her? Whatever the reason, it was not her interest to continue to be curious.

"I look forward to your performance in the round table discussion, Princess Li," said the Queen.

Li Xueyue nodded in response. She curtseyed again and left without looking back. This time, the maids did not watch her like a hawk.
