Li Xueyue was stunned. She didn't know what to say or do, but continued to hold the little boy in her arms. She raised her head, but met Yu Zhen's angry eyes. She blinked quickly and licked her lips nervously.

"He said..." She trailed off and stepped back from the hug. She gently held his shoulders.

"Little one," she muttered, "you said Yu Zhen was your father's name."

The child nodded slowly. "He takes care of me."

Li Xueyue raised her eyebrows immediately. He must have thought that his father was just someone who helped take care of him.

"No, my father is—" She paused. Wait a minute. Wasn't he separated from Viscount White when he was two years old? Didn't he have any memory of his parents?

"Amnesia." Yu Zhen said when he saw that she was obviously unconscious.

"What do you mean?" Li Xueyue asked, somewhat unable to comprehend this shocking fact.

"It's possible," he said. "Enough trauma in childhood can lead to memory loss."

Li Xueyue took a trembling breath. She looked down at the boy. That would explain why his eyes lacked luster and joy.

He looked up at her, his young face blank. He was well taken care of. This was evident from his healthy weight and decent clothes.

"I..." She trailed off, unsure of what to tell him. His parents' death was partly her fault.

Li Xueyue didn't even know his brother's name. He was the last heir of the Bai family, but the boy himself didn't know it. Maybe he was, and it was best not to think too much about his different surname.

"What's your name, little one?" she asked softly.

Li Xueyue tried hard to adjust her mentality.

It's hard not to shed tears knowing that she took away this innocent child's childhood. He could have lived a happy life with loving parents in a big house full of servants and wealth. But that dream was shattered by her.

"Bai Yihao," he told her helplessly. "But uh..." He fiddled with his fingers. "Dad calls me Haohao."

"I'm not your father," Yu Zhen hissed. He placed a hand on the child's head and twisted it so that the child looked at him as he explained.

"Don't get me wrong," he chided. "I'm your benefactor. Nothing more."

Bai Yihao didn't seem surprised by Yu Zhen's behavior. He stared blankly at the stern elder brother in front of him.

Although the pressure of the man's fingers on his head was painful, he did not flinch and continued to observe.

Why? Because despite the fear he had felt before, he still felt safe. Originally, he was a little scared when he saw Yu Zhen getting angry. Although Yu Zhen had never attacked him, the strange thing was...

Bai Yihao doesn't like loud noises, nor does he like looking at him with angry eyes. It's scary.

"You hurt him." Li Xueyue argued. She pushed Yu Zhen's fingers away, but he suddenly grabbed her wrist.

"Where did you find him? When Yan Xi was taking care of you, he should have had someone taking care of him."

"Well, I got lost while running away—" She paused. His words had sunk into her heart. "Yan Xi is his caretaker?"

Yu Zhen pulled her up. "Don't kneel in front of this child."

"You didn't answer my question." Li Xueyue said. She kept her hands on Bai Yihao's shoulders to prevent him from feeling left out.

Yu Zhen was reluctant to say anything more—especially with a child between them. Bai Yihao seemed to be unconsciously seeking comfort from the last relative. His little hands tightly hugged her legs, almost with fear.

He sighed. "Yes, Yan Xi is usually responsible for raising the child, but now that she is with you, her responsibilities have changed."

Li Xueyue opened her lips in horror. Not only had she taken away Bai Yihao's parents, but now she had also separated him from his only caregiver.

Guilt coursed through her veins. What else had she stolen from this child? He clung to her legs, unaware of the crime she had committed against him.

"Can you arrange for Yan Xi to only take care of Bai Yihao and not anyone else?" Her voice trembled, just like her eyes.

Yu Zhen felt a little softer after hearing her words. Why would she feel pity for a brother she just met? Did she forget what the Bai family did to her?

He shook his head, thinking how stupid she was. Li Xueyue's kindness was always misplaced.

"What should I do to you?" he whispered, moving closer to her.

When he touched the side of Li Xueyue's face, Li Xueyue stared at the ground gloomily. The back of his finger was rough, but she didn't mind.

His thumb brushed the corner of her mouth. Without warning, his fingers grasped her chin, forcing her head up.

"Look at me when you talk to me," he said. A smile curved his lips. "Especially if you want something."

Li Xueyue pinched her nose and bit his finger, but he pulled back before she could do anything. Her heart skipped a beat when he let out a deep laugh. Even Bai Yihao was stunned. He looked up in horror, his eyes wide open.

“I already have a pet that bites, I don’t need another one,” he mused.

Li Xueyue snorted at his words. She felt her clothes being pulled and lowered her head.

"Will I be able to see Xixi soon?" Bai Yihao whispered.

Li Xueyue noticed that he was balling up the fabric of her dress. Despite this, she smiled lovingly and nodded. She gently stroked the back of his head.

"Yes, you'll see her more often now," she whispered.

Yu Zhen raised his eyebrows. When did he say yes?

"Really?" Bai Yihao exhaled, his dull eyes filled with joy.

Li Xueyue's heart was squeezed by his gentle expression. This was the first time she saw him smile.

She had known him for less than a day, but she was willing to give him anything. Not because she felt guilty, but because he was her brother - even if he was the son of terrible parents. Children should not have to pay for the sins of their parents.

"Yes." Li Xueyue comforted.

A huge smile spread across his lips, and without warning, he buried his face in her legs, nuzzling against them in bliss.

Yu Zhen smiled, his eyes softening a little. It was a beautiful sound, and he hoped to treasure it for the rest of his life. It tickled his soul and found a safe place in his heart.

Seeing her with the child, Yu Zhen realized how much he wanted to have a child with Xueyue. But he didn't have to wait too long, because the wedding was tomorrow, and he had plenty of time to hold a wedding.

"I'll have to find you another mature servant," Yu Zhen said.

Li Xueyue raised her eyes and gave him a warm smile. "What happened to the cheerful maid you promised me?"

Yu Zhen frowned. He put her hand to his lips and kissed her fingertips provocatively.

"Is this a wish?"

"Yes."

"That's my order." Yu Zhen said, pressing against her hand.

Li Xueyue smiled nervously. He dotes on her too much. ? Bai Yihao pulled her Hanfu again to attract her attention.

"Will I ever see you again?" he asked softly.

Yu Zhen raised his eyebrows. "No-"

"Yeah." Her heartbeat quickened, and she ignored Yu Zhen's stunned expression.

"Sunny," he warned. "This child is—"

"I know who he is," she deadpanned.

"If your guilt represents you, then you better shut that thing up."

Li Xueyue ignored his words. She bent down again until her eyes were level with Bai Yihao's.

"Little one, do you know who I am?" she asked.

Li Xueyue waited patiently for Bai Yihao to think about his next words. She could almost see the gears turning in his mind. As he was lost in thought, she noticed the tip of his tongue sticking out.

"Uh..." he said finally, "I don't know."

Li Xueyue smiled warmly. She held his little hand. “I’m your sister.”

Bai Yihao's brows knitted together. He observed her features, from her gentle smile to her holding his hand. He didn't know what to say. He felt...he had a sister before.

"My name is Li Xueyue." She whispered. "But before, it was--"

“No,” Yu Zhen roared. “It will bring back traumatic memories.”

Li Xueyue hesitated for a moment, but then she saw the look on Bai Yihao's face. His eyes were filled with fear, as if he was trying to remember something, but to no avail. She could see the struggle he was having with his own identity.

"I'm sorry," she whispered to the child.

Bai Yihao stared at her blankly, not knowing what to say. Why was she sorry? When she gently touched his face, he became even more confused.

He didn't know what else to do but lean into the touch, cherishing its warmth and kindness. His small hand grasped her wrist, not letting her stop.

Li Xueyue felt guilty. He seemed to lack love.

"Now that Xixi is back, you won't be alone anymore." She said to him, hoping that Yanxi could take good care of him. She had confidence in Yanxi.

She jumped when a hand was placed on top of her head. She wasn't sure if he was caressing her like a pet.

"I want kids," he told her, catching her off guard.

"What?" she whispered. Was her ears deceiving her?

“A lot,” he added. “They are like your little princess and prince in every way.”

Li Xueyue was speechless. She could only stare at him like he was crazy. What could have caused such an idea?

Li Xueyue didn't mention her daughter or son at all. But she shook her head. She couldn't predict the crazy thoughts that flashed through his mind.
