Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 31 Injured
As Li Chenyang and Xueyue were riding through the fields, they noticed something strange.
They had been riding for some time and had reached the wall of the Lee residence. Looking ahead, they noticed a pile of clothes near the white wall. As they rode closer, the metallic stench of blood hit their nostrils.
The familiar smell made Li Chenyang's eyes darken. Heiyue whined and took a few steps back to warn Xueyue. She urged him to move forward, but the horse refused to let her witness this scene.
When Xueyue gasped, Li Chenyang's eyes suddenly fell on hers. There were bloodstains on the wall, and a handprint slid down. It was as if a person leaned against the wall for support and then slipped to the ground.
Li Chenyang immediately stretched out his arm to stop Xueyue from approaching.
"You stay here, I'll go take a look." Li Chenyang said as he got off his horse and walked towards the body. He heard the rustling of clothes behind him, and when he turned around, Xueyue was already an arm's length away from him.
Li Chenyang sighed and put his hands on his hips like an overbearing mother. "You never listen, do you?" he nags, tapping her forehead. "For eyes like yours, this might be too scary," he adds, pushing her back a little.
Xueyue tilted her head in confusion. "Too scary for me...?" she thought.
Li Chenyang bent down and found that blood was flowing out of his body. His eyes stayed on the excellent craftsmanship on the armor, sword and helmet.
"It's a dead soldier." Li Chenyang didn't want to have anything to do with the injured. "I'll notify my father and he'll have it removed."
Li Chenyang sincerely hoped that this man would disappear as soon as possible. It was dangerous to have a soldier at home, especially when you didn’t know what his rank and position were. As far as he knew, this man was likely an enemy from Hanjiang, an enemy of Wuyi.
Li Chenyang is not Li Wenmin, who is kind, gentle, and generous to everyone he meets. He is more logical and tends to see the worst in almost everything. Now, he imagines his entire family being massacred or tried for treason - because they harbored an enemy soldier.
"Let's go, let's go back." Li Chenyang was about to leave, but he stopped when he found that Xueyue didn't follow him. He turned around and saw Xueyue looking at the man carefully.
"Hey, stay away from him, you might get your clothes dirty." Li Chenyang immediately walked back to her, put his warm hand on her back, and guided her to the horse's back.
Xueyue did not move from her position. "He's breathing." She pointed at his chest, which was rising and falling slowly but steadily.
The man was a mess. Blood was streaming down his forehead. His skin was suffocatingly pale, and there was a large pool of blood around him. He was knocking on death's door.
"Well, it's good for him." Li Chenyang said depressedly, not caring about the man's condition.
"We have to take him back to the house and bandage him up," Xue Yue said, looking at the familiar symbol on the man's breastplate.
Li Chenyang frowned. "We won't save him."
"why not?"
"Because he was a soldier and a wounded man. If he was found dead in our house, it would damage our reputation."
"But we have to save him."
Li Chenyang shook his head. "No. We will drag him off our property. The risk of trying to save him is too high. If he dies while in our care, our reputation will be tarnished."
"He was a soldier serving our country! We can't leave him to die."
"He can die. Just not in our house." He shook his head. "Besides, he could be an enemy soldier—Hey! Don't touch him, he's dirty!" Li Chenyang yelled as Xueyue used a handkerchief to wipe the dried blood off the runes on the man's badge.
It shows a dragon slithering around a sword and shield. Below this symbol is an engraving with the word "wen" inscribed on it.
Xueyue tilted her head and began to recall the names she knew with the character "文". She vaguely remembered something about the commander. What was his name?
"Don't you think his armor is too ornate and not suitable for an ordinary soldier? I think he can be a commander." Xueyue recognized the symbol on the flag she saw in the capital and sighed.
Li Chenyang frowned and thought to himself, "Great!" Now we really have to save him. "
"I saw a poster in town looking for the missing commander. What's his name..." Xueyue's voice became lower and lower, and he supported his chin with his fingers, making a thoughtful expression.
After a few seconds, she finally remembered the poster. "Oh my God, I remember now! Isn't his name Wen Jinkai?"
Hearing this name, Li Chenyang's whole body froze.
His face turned a little pale.
His best friend is missing?
Why didn’t the Wen family inform the Li family? When he recalled the memory of a little boy being beaten, his throat tightened and his eyes were empty and lacking in love.
"Let me see." Li Chenyang bent down and stared at the surname engraved on the armor plate. His eyes turned to the pale face with dried blood on his head.
Since it was difficult to identify the man with the bloody face, he opened the kettle and poured water on the soldier's face.
"Li Chenyang!" Xueyue panted, slapping his arm. "How could you pour water on an injured person?!"
"It's that bastard..." Li Chenyang muttered when the blood was slightly washed away. He was absent-minded and didn't realize that this was the first time Xueyue raised her voice to him.
Although Wen Jinkai's face is still red, it is not enough to hide his attractiveness. Thick eyebrows, long eyelashes, straight nose bridge, sharp jawline, and stone-chiseling jawline make him the kind of man that makes people have to take a second look.
Even with his eyes closed, Xueyue could see that his gaze was the sharpest.
Xueyue was stunned by him and blinked rapidly. She vaguely remembered that Bai Tianai had tried to curry favor with this unattainable man.
Li Chenyang noticed her curious look and waved his hand in front of her. "You can't have him." He smiled and tossed the helmet aside.
Xueyue blushed and turned away from him. "I never said I did it."
Li Chenyang smiled and patted her little head. "Well, we can't leave this fool here any longer. Let's ride back to the house and let the servants carry him back."
He wanted to send someone to watch over Jin Kai when he returned to the manor, but Xue Yue was the only one around, and he would rather risk his own life than hers.
What if Kincaid came out to attack her because he mistook her for an enemy? He couldn't take that risk and decided it would be best for them to ride back together.
Li Chenyang originally planned to help Xueyue get on the horse, but he was dumbfounded when he saw her get on the horse easily by herself.
Her hair fluttered in the wind, making her look majestic even though she was a child. Where had he seen the same posture and face before? It was so familiar...
"Hurry up! We have to hurry." Without waiting for him, she urged Black Moon forward, and the horse galloped as ordered. She was faster than the wind blowing her hair, and she hurriedly rode in the direction of the house, completely unaware that Wen Jinkai was already unconscious and heard the whole conversation.
