The horse suddenly kicked with its front legs, and Xueyue was startled.

Fortunately, she reacted faster than the horse did. When she realized that her hands were still entangled in the leather reins, she immediately jumped on the horse and the horse rushed forward.

"Slow down!" Xueyue called out as the horse jumped over another hurdle. Soon, it was running towards the trading port. She gasped as the horse began to run straight towards a fruit cart pushed by an old woman.

"No, don't!" Xueyue screamed, grabbing the reins and trying to pull the horse in the other direction. Her heart started beating wildly and she was heartbroken at the thought of hurting innocent civilians.

"Black Moon, please!" She had no idea where the name came from, but it rolled off her tongue smoothly.

Suddenly, the horse shook its head violently and seconds before colliding with the woman, it veered in the direction of the port terminal.

Xueyue knew that if the horse kept running, it would run straight into the sea. "Heiyue, listen to me, you can't escape at this rate! You're just running faster towards the gate of death." Although the horse couldn't understand her words, she tried her best to make her voice soft and soothing.

Xueyue saw the approaching dock a few meters ahead. Her heart was pounding with fear. Winter had just ended and spring was about to arrive, which meant the water was still icy cold.

Neither horses nor humans could survive long in icy water. They would die!

"I know you don't like being treated roughly or forced to accept these uncomfortable reins, and I'm very sorry for what I'm about to do now!" Xueyue took a deep breath and pulled the reins roughly. This forced the horse to slow down, but it didn't stop Heiyue from running.

She sat higher on the horse so she could have better control and she pulled the horse back again.

Just seconds before the horse ran across the harbor, it suddenly stopped.

Xueyue took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down.

Black Moon snorted and stepped on the wooden deck. It creaked due to the powerful force.

Xueyue bent down and gently rubbed the horse's neck. "I'm sorry, it must hurt..." She whispered, feeling full of guilt.

Xueyue gently massaged the horse's face, hoping to soothe and relieve the pain. She moved closer to the horse. "Can you take me back to the stable?"

The horse neighed and stomped roughly on the wooden deck, causing Xueyue's heart to tremble.

She sighed, knowing that Black Moon had rejected her request.

"You won't be sold again, I promise."

The horse cocked its head to the side, as if considering sending her back.

"I have already given you a name, and I won't let you go." Xueyue reached out and gently stroked the horse's mane, and said again.

After careful consideration, the horse began to walk back to the ring. Xueyue smiled when she saw him obey.

Suddenly, she noticed a pair of eyes following her. Some admired her ability to ride a horse without a proper harness, while others were shocked that such a little girl could tame a horse three times her size.

Whose noble daughter is this? This family must be very happy to have such a talented and beautiful daughter.

"Xueyue!" Li Chenyang immediately chased after her. His face was red from urging the horse to run too fast, and there was a look of panic and fear on his face.

He helped her off the horse and held her at arm's length.

"You crazy woman! How can you run like this! Why don't you jump down?!" Li Chenyang began to curse, his voice getting louder and louder.

He began to attract the attention of the crowd.

The young women marveled at the boy's handsomeness.

"Do you know you might get hurt?! What if you fall into the sea?" He continued to scold Xueyue, his face darkening with anger.

"If you drowned, how would I explain it to Li Wenmin? What would I say to Mom and Dad?!" He stopped talking nonsense when Xueyue suddenly hugged him.

He stood rigidly, his arms hanging limply at his sides.

"I'm fine." Xueyue's voice came out low from her robe.

He stepped back until they were an arm's length away. "You idiot." He was relieved to see that she had no visible injuries. His hand hesitantly reached out, paused just above her head, and patted it with one smooth motion. "You can't do that again."

"I know."

"Otherwise I will bully you."

"Pfft, I get it."

"Otherwise I'll make you eat bitter melon."

"Okay, little bug, don't worry." Xueyue nodded obediently.

Li Chenyang patted her head gently, suddenly feeling guilty for scolding her. He didn't know why he felt so worried seeing her standing so close to the port. Maybe it was because he had already lost a sister and didn't want to lose another one. Li Minghua was not really a sister to him, but despite that, they had the same blood, which was enough for him to care about her.
