Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 262 The Real Princess
Hu Dengxiao blinked a few times, then laughed awkwardly. He waved his hands in front of him and covered his ears. "I'm sorry, Your Highness, what did you just say? I was stunned. I thought I heard something strange."
"Do I stutter?" Yu Zhen asked as he walked down the corridor towards his side of the Grand Palace.
Hu Dengxiao hurried after him. Yu Zhen was now the crown prince of Han Jian. But the idea of calling him by this new title felt strange. It was a difficult choice that surprised everyone, but his supporters didn’t think so. There were many people in the court who had always supported the second prince instead of the eldest prince.
"But Your Highness." Hu Dengxiao said angrily. "She is an outsider from Wuyi. Although the court officials are open-minded, they are still conservative."
“The peace treaty between Han Jian and Wuyi was very tense,” Yu Zhen said.
"Your Highness, I agree." Hu Dengxiao nodded. "They still refuse to finalize the trade route with us. The Five Counties also have rich resources, but they all refuse to sell them."
“Political marriages can always solve problems between countries,” Yu Zhen responded, his voice soft, as if he were talking to a child rather than an adult.
"But what can Xueyue do for us? There is no way she can convince the Wuyi court to change its decision. She is just the daughter of the prime minister and the princess. I mean, she is also a princess, but it is just a title, not hereditary."
"You answered your own question," Yu Zhen muttered. He shook his head and turned the corner, only to hear the hurried footsteps of a puppy chasing after him.
Yu Zhen pursed his lips and turned around. "Do you want to go to my room with me? Or go home."
"But Your Highness!" Hu Dengxiao sighed. "The important matter at hand has not yet been discussed. Yes, marrying the daughter of the Prime Minister of Wuyi is certainly advantageous, but wouldn't it be better to marry a real princess? For example, someone who has influence in the court."
"I have a suspicion," Yu Zhen said, leaning against a pillar with his arms crossed, much to the envy of his fellow strategists.
"Don't look like a damn painting every time you move. It's so annoying." Hu Dengxiao complained in a low voice.
No wonder Prince Yuzhen is so popular among the palace ladies. When someone behaves and looks like him, there is no competition.
But Hu Dengxiao's worries did not attract the attention of other girls. He only wanted Lu Tianbi. However, she never looked at him... He sighed. What a complicated life he led.
"Prime Minister Wuyi is undoubtedly the ruler behind the scenes," said Yu Zhen.
Hu Dengxiao tilted his head. "Yes, I think so. Do you mean that we can convince the Prime Minister through Xueyue?"
"You mean I'm taking advantage of her?" Yu Zhen said expressionlessly. "I've already said I won't."
"Then why do you mention this?" Hu Dengxiao asked.
"I would ignore stupid questions like yours, but you're too persistent to take 'no' for an answer."
"Haha, thank you." Hu Dengxiao said shyly.
"That's not a compliment."
"Oh..." Hu Dengxiao pouted and sulked against the wall. He began to draw small circles on the wall with his fingers, like a poor child abandoned by his parents.
"Of course this is not a compliment to me, because who would like me?" Hu Dengxiao muttered while sniffing deliberately.
Yu Zhen rolled his eyes. Sometimes he wondered if he was talking to an adult or a child.
Hu Dengxiao glanced at Yu Zhen secretly and found that his reaction was zero. He squatted on the ground angrily and drew circles on the floor. He hugged his knees and complained in a low voice.
He perked up when he heard footsteps approaching. The prince stamped at him angrily. "Zhenzhen, I knew you would come over—Oops! Why did you kick me?!"
Hu Dengxiao fell to the ground and shouted, "How could you knock your military advisor to the ground like this? This is abuse!"
Yu Zhen sneered in response. "Your scream will wake up the entire palace."
“Okay!” Hu Dengxiao frowned. “By then, everyone will see the prince’s true face—a bully!”
Yu Zhen folded his arms. "They already know."
"Well, well... well, well, um." Hu Dengxiao had another wave of provocation in his mind.
There is no need to expose Yu Zhen's true face. Everyone knows that their second prince is cruel, but they still support him as the crown prince. This is because they know that no matter what method he uses, he will get things done. This strategy is a double-edged sword, but many people take risks.
Hu Dengxiao wondered if the prince had any human emotions besides sadistic rage. He looked up at the quiet prince, his attention now elsewhere.
"What is he looking at?" Hu Dengxiao watched Yu Zhen staring at the empty corridor, wondering. A calm breeze swirled across the floor, dancing and swaying as it pleased.
The prince looked up at the sky again.
This poetic scene annoyed Hu Dengxiao. Who was Zhenzhen playing for? !
"No one appreciates your beauty." Hu Dengxiao frowned. "Your Highness, go to bed, what are you doing outside?"
"nanny."
Hu Dengxiao took a breath, and a look of obvious offense flashed across his face. "I'm not a baby."
"I didn't say it was you, but if the shoe fits..."
"You are a bully." Hu Dengxiao exclaimed. "I will tell Tiantian about you."
"She'll kill you if you call her that."
"Hehe, but she was cute when she hit me... but it hurt." Hu Dengxiao retorted. He subconsciously rubbed his upper arm, although it didn't hurt.
Hu Dengxiao stood up and dusted off his clothes. He stretched his tense muscles and yawned softly. "When are you going to take Princess Li to Han?"
"I don't know." Yu Zhen answered truthfully.
"I understand." Hu Dengxiao understood. His tone was light because he knew the prince's struggle.
The politics at court were still turbulent. There was still a party that favored the eldest prince. And Yu Zhen had not yet eliminated all the traitors and corrupt officials.
If Xue Yue steps into Han Jian, it would be terrible timing. She has the best of both worlds, especially those women who are jealous of her relationship with the Crown Prince.
"I heard she's very smart." Hu Dengxiao suddenly said. "Isn't that why you went to visit her? To meet the candidate who spoke from the cold sword."
Yu Zhen nodded silently.
"I think she'll do well in Hanjian. It's going to be tough for her here, but I feel like she can handle anything that comes her way. A sharp tongue can take a person a long way."
"Until it breaks." Yu Zhen had a blank expression.
"If she wants to be queen, she has to learn to control her tongue," Hu Dengxiao replied. "Otherwise her emotions will control her and she will overcome every obstacle she encounters."
"I just want her to live happily."
"Then she shouldn't be the queen." Hu Dengxiao said. "She should be your concubine or second wife. The emperor can marry two or three concubines, you know. I heard that Emperor Wuyi had half a hundred concubines."
Yu Zhen did not respond. He just observed the boundless sky. This was his only connection with Xueyue. They were both under the same moon.
"The higher you climb, the harder you fall," Hu explained. "If she wants to be in power here, she has to maintain this position for the rest of her life."
"Go to bed." Yu Zhen finally replied in a low voice.
"I was just looking for you."
"I know." Yu Zhen muttered.
"Have you decided? I see you are in deep thought." Hu Dengxiao said.
"I have." Yu Zhen nodded.
"Also, what is this?"
"She'll adapt."
"You still want to take her to Han Jian?" Hu Dengxiao asked. "Even after I said that?"
Yu Zhen just smiled in response. He turned his eyes away from the moon that reminded him of her.
Hu Dengxiao sighed. There was no point in changing the prince's mind. He was just too stubborn.
"That's good," Hu Dengxiao said. "I will respect your decision, but you should be prepared to announce it."
"I've been preparing for this," Yu Zhen replied. "Ever since I met her."
Hu Dengxiao laughed deeply. "Leave these silly words to her. I almost vomited."
"You go to bed." Yu Zhen retorted.
"Okay, okay, I'll go right away, you mother hen." Hu Dengxiao said angrily. "You too. We still have a long day tomorrow."
Yu Zhen nodded. He watched Hu Dengxiao lower his head and walk away. "Don't go to Lu Tianbi's bedroom."
"I didn't!" Hu Dengxiao said. "But you know, this is a shortcut to my bedroom, and--"
Yu Zhen gave him a sharp look.
“Wonderful!” Hu Dengxiao snorted. “I won’t check if she’s asleep,” he said angrily, then stomped away like a tantrum-throwing child.
Yu Zhen shook his head in amusement and retreated to his bedroom. As he walked in the dark corridor illuminated by the moonlight, he couldn't help but think of her. Li Xueyue had always shrouded his mind.
Yu Zhen continued walking along the dimly lit corridor. He stepped into the darkness and disappeared into it.
