Li Chenyang knew his next destination. He went straight to his father's private study. He knocked on the door and opened it after hearing the voice of "Come in".

"Father." Li Chenyang greeted him in a stiff voice. Seeing his father's tired face, wrinkles appeared on his forehead.

Lord Li Chenyang motioned his son to sit down on a couch. "I'm sure we have a lot to discuss," he said.

Li Chenyang's eyes rested on the items on his father's messy desk. For a moment, Chenyang thought he saw the letters. But it was too late to take a second look.

Mr. Li Chenyang stood in front of the desk, facing his son, and blocked his son's view of the contents on the desk.

"Father," Li Chenyang addressed him formally. "The last discussion about the Emperor's private funds has not been concluded. It is extremely secret and no one can have access to it, not even the Prime Minister."

Li Chenyang nodded. "You are right. It is impossible for me to come into contact with such a thing, but it was discovered randomly."

"What?" Li Chenyang asked. "Where? Why would something so important be found out in the open?"

Li Chenyang sighed. "I was hoping you'd stop here, but I think I have to tell the truth."

"Guess?" Li Chenyang snorted. "Since when did you start to like lying to me?"

"Never, but I guess a few white lies never hurt anyone," Li Chenyang said. He rested his arms on the table behind him. He could really use some stress-relieving tea at this time... or the tea his wife made.

"It was actually given to me secretly," said King Li Chenyang. "I was in my office in the palace when I heard a knock on the door. A guard opened the door and claimed that a servant had delivered a letter to me."

Li Chenyang was stunned. "Servant? How could anyone get such an important thing?!"

? That is exactly what I want to know. I asked the guard about the servant carefully, but he could not give a clear description of her. She came and went as quickly as a ghost. "

"The guards didn't recognize her identity?" Li Chenyang asked. "But that's impossible. The palace guards keep track of every palace servant. You can line everyone up and the guards should be able to identify the right person."

"If the person who gave me this thing and the person who received it are the same person, it means that this person is not an ordinary servant." said Lord Li Chenyang.

Li Chenyang's lips wrinkled. "That means this information is not credible. What if it is forged?"

"I had the same thought when I opened it in my office, but then I saw it - the document had the emperor's signature on it. The handwriting was also exactly the same as the emperor's, especially the strokes of certain characters. There was no doubt about it."

Li Chenyang bit his nails. He paced in his private study. “That is to say, besides us, there are people who know about the emperor’s private funds. Who will hand this over to us?”

"I would like to know that, too." Li Chenyanggong sighed. "Besides, it's getting late, you should go to bed. We can discuss everything tomorrow morning when the whole family is here."

"Dad..." Li Chenyang trailed off. "You haven't told us how you found Minghua yet. Can you imagine our shock when we saw her with you?"

"To be honest," King Li Chenyang said, "I am as surprised as you are. Minghua ran to me like a ghost."

"You have to tell me what happened." Li Chenyang asked.

"I was on the palace grounds, directing everyone to their proper places. The palace corridors were a mess, the aftermath of the devastation. Servants were ordered to clean up, while guards were instructed to search for surviving members of the royal family."

King Li Chenyang's chest sank. He was a little excited about the miracle he had obtained.

"Everything I saw was grim and depressing. No one had the courage to do anything, but they trudged on," he said.

Li Chenyang raised his head towards the ceiling. He needed something to distract himself.

"Minghua descended from the sky like a fairy when disaster struck. When every meter of the palace was shrouded in melancholy, she suddenly stood up."

Recalling the next memory, the corners of King Li Chenyang’s mouth couldn’t help but lower. It was so unpleasant that he almost collapsed like his wife.

"She opened her eyes wide and rushed to me in panic. The guards came forward, thinking she was just a mad servant after the prime minister died." Lord Li Chenyang seemed to be thinking about something.

He turned his gaze to the sofa where Chen Yang was standing. "I took one look at her and knew it was Minghua. I didn't need to see her face closely. Even from a distance, I knew it was her."

Li Chenyanggong retracted his chin to a neutral position. His eyes turned to Chen Yang. "Minghua is very much like your mother. Looking at her is like looking at your mother when she was young. I rarely get choked up with emotion, but the moment I saw her, I felt like I was going to cry."

"What about you?" Li Chenyang asked. "Did you cry?"

"In public? Surrounded by so many people?" Li Chenyang sneered. "Of course not, do you really want to embarrass me so soon?"

"I thought you wouldn't," Li Chenyang muttered. "In the twenty-one years I've been on Earth, I've never seen you shed a tear, not even at Minghua's funeral."

"In order to prevent our family from collapsing, I will never show weakness." King Li Chenyang said firmly. Tears are for the weak. He doesn't need them. What can they provide for the family? Tears can't make a family rich.

"What did Minghua tell you?" Li Chenyang asked. "She will definitely explain what happened to her, right?"

Li Chenyang nodded immediately. "Yes, she explained everything to me on the way home in the carriage. It was horrible. I should have known that this damn vixen was behind all this."

“Shrew?” Li Chenyang repeated. “You mean the queen? I’ve called her worse nicknames, but go ahead.”

King Li Chenyang's mouth twitched, and he laughed. Let his son say this with a straight face.

"It was the Queen who started the fire in our house. She sneaked from the capital to Hechen just to confront Minghua. Things got out of hand and the Queen set fire to the room."

"That doesn't make sense." Li Chenyang said. "Our family was originally Minghua's territory. How did the queen win?"

"I don't know the specific details, but I believe there is more to what we believe." King Li Chenyang muttered. He hated that his daughter would lie to him, but this was not the first time.

Although King Li Chenyang was overjoyed at his daughter's return, he still felt a little apprehensive. He was grateful that she was back, and this was the happiest moment he had felt in a long time.

King Li Chenyang was a little hesitant when he saw that his naughty daughter had not changed at all. He felt like he was walking on thin ice in his own home, worrying about when he would wake up from his dream.

"Minghua was manipulated by the queen and suffered severe burns from her shoulders to her arms. She passed out in the thick smoke. When Minghua woke up, she had been kidnapped, her hands and feet were tied, and she was tied to the ground. The carriage went straight to the palace."

Lord Li Chenyang's face turned stormy. His blood was boiling. "My biological daughter has been in the palace under my nose, but I didn't know it at all."

Li Chenyang nodded slowly. "I heard that the Queen threatened Minghua to let her stay. She mentioned some dark secrets that could destroy our family. What is Minghua talking about?"

Lord Li Chenyang's anger was replaced by anxiety. The Li family had too many secrets. He couldn't predict which ones the queen knew.

"Let's not talk about this anymore." King Li Chenyang said. "First, finish your dinner in your room and get ready for bed. When you have enough energy tomorrow morning, we'll discuss it with Minghua."

"Dad." Li Chenyang said seriously. "What secret?"

"You'll find out soon enough." King Li Chenyang pushed away from his desk. He placed a hand on his son's shoulder and pushed him toward the door. "That's it."

"If I stay in the study too long and your mother wakes up, she might lock me out of the bedroom again. The sofas here have too hard shoulders."

Li Chenyang frowned at this blatant excuse. Helplessly, he had to succumb to his father's wishes. "Okay, but you have to tell me this secret eventually. Otherwise, I don't know what will happen next."

King Li Chenyang chuckled. "You've always been a worrier, haven't you?" He said as he opened the door.

"My mother gave it to me," Li Chenyang muttered. "Well, I have all your shortcomings. What can I say?"

"You can say that they are all your mother's, not mine." King Li Chenyang smiled. "You just inherited my best qualities."

Li Chenyang raised his eyebrows. "It doesn't look like it."

“You scoundrel.” Li Chenyanggong slapped his son on the head. “I can’t believe I have to force you to go to bed again, like you were five.”

"Yes, yes." Li Chenyang said. "Okay, I'll go back to my room now, good night."

King Li Chenyang smiled softly. "Good night, son. Sleep well."

"I will." Li Chenyang whispered. He opened the door and closed it behind him.
