Li Xueyue swallowed her saliva. In her confused mind, she suddenly remembered a sentence the second prince once said. Near the guest palace, he once asked Wenmin whether the Li family wanted to replace Li Minghua.

At the time, this question was very strange and unexpected. But now that Li Xueyue thought about it carefully, she felt that she had missed a key detail. Why did the Second Prince talk about Li Minghua so intimately? Li Minghua's diary did not mention the Second Prince at all... What was his relationship with her?

"Chenyang." She called out and pulled his sleeve.

Li Chenyang wondered if she knew that she didn't even have to tug at his sleeve to get his attention. He kept the thought to himself. "What's wrong?" he asked, clearly concerned.

Li Xueyue looked up and saw that his brows were furrowed and there were wrinkles on his forehead. If he continued to worry so much, he would age too quickly.

Li Xueyue looked around. The Duchess was at the end of the corridor. She lowered her voice and asked, "Are the Second Prince and Minghua on good terms?"

"What do you mean?" Li Chenyang asked in the same low voice.

"Like, are they good friends? What's their relationship like? They're cousins, right?"

"Yes, they are cousins." Li Chenyang said. "But it's strange that you ask that. I don't remember them being particularly close when they grew up. Of course, the second prince favored her because she was very kind to him when he was a child."

Li Xueyue nodded slowly. "Do you think she had any contact with him when she was in the palace? Since you said they were good friends when they were young, do you think their relationship in the palace was good?"

Li Chenyang shook his head. "Your guess is the same as mine, but I would say that their relationship is not as close as before. If we remember the diary correctly, Minghua never mentioned the second prince once."

"Then don't you find it strange?" Li Xueyue asked. "When Wenmin and I went to the guest palace, the second prince mentioned Minghua and asked us if we should replace her."

Li Chenyang blinked in surprise. "When you and I discussed it with him privately, he also said something similar."

“If he asked it twice, it means the question is very important,” Li Xueyue pointed out. “It’s almost like…”

"It seems like he knows something we don't." Li Chenyang finished for her. His lips frowned. Why is the Second Prince so interested in Minghua? When she was secretly engaged to Wen Jinkai, wasn't the relationship in the palace particularly close?

"I feel like we've missed a key clue." Li Xueyue said anxiously, biting her lower lip. She stroked her chin and tilted her head, wondering what it could be.

"Why do you suddenly bring this up?" Li Chenyang asked.

"Look?" She followed behind, looking around to make sure no one was nearby. She leaned on his sleeve, stood on tiptoes, and whispered, "I think Minghua is still alive."

Li Chenyang's eyes had never been so wide. He was startled by her words, and when she tried to pull away, he grabbed her upper arm. He looked down at her in disbelief, and opened his lips to respond. His mind was blank. He didn't even know what to say.

"How...? What? You--hmm?" He stuttered. He scratched the back of his neck as he tried to form a complete sentence.

"Remember when I told you I woke up in the Queen's bedroom?" Li Xueyue said. "I accidentally overheard her conversation with someone in her bedroom, and I specifically remember the Queen calling someone 'Minghua.' She even brought up the fire incident."

Li Chenyang froze to the ground. His lips opened and closed like a fish out of water. What was he supposed to say about something like this? For the past two and a half years, he had believed that his sister was dead. He had no doubt that she had been burned to death.

"Before I could look inside and see the woman's face, someone covered my face with a handkerchief and knocked me unconscious. Then, the next thing I knew, my mother woke me up in front of the queen's body. If-"

"It's as if someone deliberately framed you for murder. Otherwise, why would you be left in the bedroom?" Li Chenyang said. He couldn't believe it. Who would come out to catch Xueyue? She didn't offend anyone!

The only enemies he could think of were Han Jieru and perhaps other friends of Bai Tianai. Xueyue seldom went out. She had no friends who could even become enemies.

“This idea is too evil and too far-fetched, but, uh…” Li Xueyue’s voice became smaller and smaller, hesitating whether she could say such a thing. She was nervous. What if the Li family avoided her because she had such speculation?

Li Xueyue knew how much the Li family loved their late daughter Minghua. To say something bad about her would immediately make her an enemy of the Li family.

Li Xueyue was terrified of losing her only family. Just the thought of it was enough to bring tears to her eyes. She sniffed and glanced at the ground, worried about their reactions. She had to get it out of her heart or it would weigh on her forever.

"What is it?" Li Chenyang asked. "Just tell me, it's okay, I won't judge you for anything you say. You are my sister now, I will do my best to protect you."

Li Xueyue nodded gently, but couldn't lift her chin. Of all people, Chen Yang had done so much for her. She wanted to repay them in any way possible. Accusing Li Minghua of such a heinous crime was contrary to Xueyue's original intention.

"You are such a silly girl." Li Chenyang said, holding his chin with one finger. "Don't lower your chin like that, just tell me, don't worry, I won't be angry."

Li Xueyue couldn't escape his compelling gaze at all. His eyes were gentle and considerate, as if everything she said and did was right in his eyes.

"What if the person who made me unconscious was Minghua's ally? For example...what if Li Minghua tried to frame me for the murder of the queen? And...her helper was the second prince?"

Li Chenyang felt like his heart was stabbed. It felt like he was forced to choose between his sisters. He couldn't suppress the anger in his veins. His blood boiled at his sister Minghua's accusations.

Li Chenyang didn't know how to react. On the one hand, he was disappointed that he got angry at Xueyue. On the other hand, he should be loyal to Minghua. Looking down at her, he was torn at the crossroads of trust.

Ultimately, he was unable to respond.

Li Xueyue understood his silence. He had made up his mind. His loyalty did not lie with her, whom he had known for only two years. His heart was with Minghua, who had grown up with him.

Li Xueyue knew that the inevitable had already happened. Slowly but surely, she would lose the trust of the Li family. This thought would haunt her forever and keep her silent for the rest of her life. There was nothing she could do, and she couldn’t take back her confession.
