Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 230 Return it to me
Li Xueyue couldn't help but wonder what kind of face this woman had under her veil. She took a step towards the woman curiously and reached out to take the veil. Suddenly, the woman slapped it away.
Li Xueyue sighed softly and immediately soothed her hands.
Soon, the guards went to work. "How dare you hit our young lady!" They grabbed her shoulders roughly until she winced in pain.
"I didn't mean to do that, it was just a reflex!" The woman screamed, her voice full of disbelief. She struggled against the hand that was supposed to protect her.
Li Xueyue was so shocked by the servant's actions that she didn't know what to do. But someone else did it. A dark shadow passed by her, and a hand reached out and grabbed the servant's neck.
Wen Jinkai gritted his teeth. Who on earth is this servant? Such a useless thing doesn't deserve to live.
“What are you doing?!” Li Xueyue yelled and grabbed his arm. When did he stand up? She didn’t even notice him!
The woman didn't even struggle for her life. She just opened her eyes wide and looked at the man in front of her.
Li Xueyue narrowed her eyes. Are those... tears? The woman was crying.
"That's enough, stop talking!" Li Xueyue hissed. She pulled Wen Jinkai's arm, her face full of annoyance. "This is not a problem you can solve!"
Wen Jinkai threw the woman to the ground like a rag doll. The woman gasped violently, covered her throat, coughed, and desperately sucked in air. She always felt something was strange, but she couldn't put her finger on it.
"Are you okay?" Wen Jinkai muttered, ignoring the panicked look on Li Xueyue's face. He reached out and held her hand that had been beaten by the servant, hoping to check if there were any marks.
Li Xueyue took a step back. She shouldn't have come here today. Her guards and servants had broken through the formation. If the servant hadn't bumped into her, there would be no problem.
"I'm fine, don't touch me." Li Xueyue said boldly.
Wen Jinkai paused. A look of regret flashed across his face, and he looked down at the ground. He took a step back apologetically, creating some distance between them. This was not because he wanted to, but because he knew this was the best outcome.
"I just want to help."
"You do this all the time." Li Xueyue frowned. "You intervened when you shouldn't have."
"This rat attacked you." Wen Jinkai pointed a finger at the servant, as if she was worth less than the scum under his shoes. "What else can I do? Death is the only option."
Li Xueyue shook her head. "She should be punished. But strangling her to death? That violates the law protecting servants."
"The rules don't apply to me, Li Xueyue." Wen Jinkai raised his eyebrows. "It will be good for you to remember this."
Li Xueyue crossed her arms. "I will not stand here to defend her actions, nor will I accept yours."
"You are so stubborn," Wen Jinkai said softly. "Why do you always put up walls around me? I have only the best intentions for you."
"Is it the best intention to hurt me and then ask me to apologize to you? Is it the best thing to invade my privacy and barge into my room for me? Is it?" she fired back.
Wen Jinkai was stunned after hearing her words.
Li Xueyue saw that he looked heavy-hearted, as if he had something on his mind.
The cocky commander suddenly seemed small in her eyes. Were his shoulders always hunched? She noticed the dark circles under his eyes but didn't comment on them. It wasn't her job. It wasn't like she was his wife or anything.
"What do you want in order to forgive me?" Wen Jinkai muttered. "Do you want to see me kneel down? Do you want to see me beg?"
Li Xueyue trembled. "No, of course not. I just want you to stay as far away from me as possible."
"I can't do that."
"I will not replace Li Minghua." Li Xueyue gritted her teeth and said, "How could you do such a thing to humiliate her death?!"
Hearing her words, the servant raised his head sharply. Her beating neck was no longer the center of focus. What did this arrogant princess just say? !
"You are not qualified to say this name!" Wen Jinkai roared: "Li Xueyue, you don't understand anything——"
"I know you're a bad lover and a scumbag," Li Xueyue hissed. "Get out of my sight now."
Wen Jinkai's face darkened. Before her guards could react, he effortlessly closed the distance between them.
But she was faster. The moment he stretched out his hand, a knife was pressed against his neck.
"Don't touch me," Li Xueyue warned coldly, the dagger gleaming in the sun. "I won't tolerate you anymore."
Wen Jinkai burst into laughter. In the blink of an eye, he took the knife from her hand.
Li Xueyue would not let him violate her again. When the knife fell to the ground, he fell to the ground too. Because she knelt him directly in a place where the sun could not reach.
Wen Jinkai coughed and grabbed his precious jewelry. He hissed in pain, not expecting her to be so violent.
Li Xueyue looked down at him. Her lips curled downward. "Stay away from me."
The Li guards felt like the most useless thing. How many times had they failed to protect their young lady? Guilt consumed them alive, so much so that they could do nothing but stare at the floor in defeat.
Li Xueyue stole one last look at the woman. "You're lucky I didn't have my guards chop your hand off for touching me."
The woman froze. She was so absorbed in the conversation that she forgot her manners. Finally, she bowed her head apologetically but said nothing.
Li Xueyue narrowed her eyes and looked at the woman, saying, "I will remember you well."
Li Xueyue took one last look in Wen Jinkai's direction. When she saw him glaring at her, she rolled her eyes. She had nothing to say to either of them and swaggered away, leaving the two of them on the floor.
Wang Jing heard the familiar footsteps and turned around. "What took you so long..." His voice trailed off as he saw her.
"Little one." He stood up immediately. "What's wrong with you?" He rushed to her and grasped her shoulders warmly.
He was furious at the thought of someone touching something that belonged to him. She looked like a mess. She looked like she had been badly beaten. He couldn't help but notice the obvious bruises on her neck and the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes.
She tore off her veil in anger and stamped on it with her feet. "I want to go home!" she shouted, her voice hoarse.
The second prince's expression softened a little. He pulled her into his arms, hugging her warmly and tightly. She sobbed softly and buried herself in his arms.
Normally, she was too grumpy to let anyone touch her.
Today was different. She met the two people she wanted to avoid the most in this world.
"Please...!" she begged. "I can't do this anymore. I—"
"Shh," Wang Jing whispered, patting her hair. "It's going to be okay," he soothed her as her body shook.
"No, I want to go home, the palace is not the place for me!" She screamed, pushing his arm. "Take me home, take me home! I don't want to stay here-"
"You are homeless now!" the Second Prince hissed, pushing her off of him.
The woman gasped at his outburst. She had never seen him so angry before. His expression was sinister and ferocious, with a sneer on his lips.
"Wang Jing..." She trailed off and fell to her knees. "Please! I beg you, I don't want to stay here anymore. They must know, they-"
"brat."
The woman paused. It was just a nickname, but it weighed heavily on her. His normally gentle and reassuring voice was deadly and threatening. It reminded her that he could kill her at any time, and no one would cry over her death because they had already done it once.
"Do you want to go home?" he asked her.
She blinked and looked up. "Yes, I do—" She let out a cry of pain as he grabbed her elbow painfully and dragged her upwards.
"Then I'll take you home."
She was petrified. He had never agreed to her request like this. And he had never been so strange around her. Something was wrong. She could feel it. As they went deeper into the palace, her suspicions were confirmed.
"No, wait, Wang Jing, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it!" she pleaded, struggling to break free from his grip.
Wang Jing ignored her. He dragged her into the bedroom and threw her onto the bed in anger. She tried to climb on top, but he grabbed her wrist and pushed her to the ground. She was still. Tears streamed down her face, leaving a salty taste on her lips.
"Your home is right next to me, and you are mine from now on. I saved you from suffering, and you will repay me with your loyalty!" Wang Jing said gritting her teeth.
More tears flowed. She cried not because he frightened her, but because she knew her fate was sealed. He had not lied when he said he was her home. Home was a place that could bring her comfort. He offered that to her, but at a price.
"Do you understand?!" Wang Jing asked.
She tilted her chin to one side, revealing her bruised neck. "I do."
"Okay." Wang Jing said, letting go of her. "Now pour me a cup of tea, before I lose my patience with you again."
The woman didn't respond. She simply got out of bed and ran out the door, her heart pounding in her chest.
Wang Jing sighed tiredly. He ran his hands through his hair angrily. "What did I do...?"
