Reborn Daughter: The Young Lady Wants to Make a Trouble
Chapter 227: Destroying the Atmosphere
"I will seriously consider your proposal." Li Xueyue said.
Yu Zhen swallowed his pride for her, regardless of everything. It was time for her to repay this favor.
Yu Zhen smiled slightly and rode away.
"Let's go in," said Duchess Wang Qixing. "I hope you're ready for the lecture."
Li Xueyue swallowed her saliva. It wasn't her fault that she was kidnapped, but she thought her mother was right. She rarely listened.
Li Xueyue rubbed her ears, feeling like she was scolded.
The Duchess had spent the past hour venting about Xue Yue's misdeeds. Her mother angrily lectured her on the importance of honor and not allowing men to do whatever they wanted.
Next, Duchess Wang Qixing scolded Li Xueyue for giving in to the commander so easily and letting down her guard. There was a lot to say, and it was all said in less than an hour. When her mother finished, Li Xueyue had slumped in her chair, her face full of guilt.
"My dear, I'm saying this for your own good," said Duchess Wang Qixing. "I'm teaching you a lesson because I care. If I didn't, I would turn my head in another direction."
Li Xueyue nodded, and then hugged her mother meaningfully. Not because she wanted to comfort her mother, but because she really appreciated the lecture. It reminded her that she had behaved like a fool.
Duchess Wang Qixing said not to chase that person, but Li Xueyue did it anyway.
However, sometimes mothers do not understand the situation because they are in a different situation than their daughters.
Soon after the lecture, Li Chenyang Gong returned home. At dinner, he also reprimanded her for her mischief. He was not angry at her behavior, just disappointed. The latter was much worse.
Li Xueyue didn't want to disappoint them, but she did so anyway.
For the next few days, Li Xueyue stayed in her room and practiced what she told them to do.
Yu Zhen didn't reach out to her, but Li Xueyue refused to let her worry.
Slowly but surely, she took up her old hobbies. In her free time, she would take Black Moon for a run, or practice archery. The sun always shone on her, adding a healthy glow to her pale complexion.
Even the Li family noticed her progress.
The days passed peacefully and slowly, without any major incidents. It was strangely reassuring, yet nerve-wracking. Why hadn't he contacted her?
Li Xueyue turned a page of the book and decided to concentrate on studying.
"Xiaoyue~" Li Wenmin said dazedly, skipping into her room. "What are you doing?"
"Read poetry," Li Xueyue said, looking up from her little book. She smiled at his eager expression. He wanted something. It was so obvious.
"Hey, remember Yu Zhen came to teach you the Cold Sword technique, can you teach it to me?"
Li Xueyue tilted her head. "I don't remember much because it was just one class."
"It doesn't matter, I still want to learn!" Li Wenmin said. "Xiaoyue, you are such a good teacher. Without your archery skills and excellent teaching ability, my archery skills would not have improved."
Li Xueyue snorted. "Your compliments are too exaggerated."
"Hehe~" Li Weimin was too lazy to deny it.
"Well, I guess I could. I didn't do anything important to begin with-"
"Actually, you are." Li Chenyang said as he walked into his room.
Li Wenmin drooped his shoulders in disappointment. Great! Li Chenyang always ruins the atmosphere.
"What is she going to do so early in the morning?" Li Wenmin snorted. "We just finished breakfast too. I'm sure anything you want can wait."
"As you said, she had just eaten and strenuous exercise can cause vomiting." Li Chenyang thought thoughtfully.
Li Wenmin frowned in dissatisfaction. He was annoyed by his brother's accuracy. He was too eager to learn and forgot the power she would exert on himself.
"You'll be busy for a long time anyway." Li Chenyang's expression became more serious. "You have been summoned to the palace."
Li Wenmin's face darkened. "What do you mean? I thought uncle and aunt didn't want anything to do with her anymore. They haven't contacted her for weeks."
"It's not the emperor and my aunt." Li Chenyang muttered. "It's the second prince."
Li Xueyue's suspicious eyes instantly met Li Wenmin. She had not forgotten their encounter near the guest palace. Was her identity leaked?
"What does he want?" Li Xueyue asked.
Li Chenyang shook his head. "I don't know, he just asked you, that's all."
"Remember I told you I met him on the way to the guest palace?" Li Wenmin said. "Well, he was asking about Xueyue. He thought Mom and Dad were using her to replace Minghua."
“How ridiculous.” Li Chenyang frowned. “If we really want to replace Minghua, we will lock Xueyue at home and wear all the styles and clothes that Minghua used to wear.”
"Exactly." Li Wenmin sighed. "Well, I think words can be spread."
Li Chenyang glared at the ground. "We don't have time to listen to this meaningless gossip."
"No." Li Wenmin agreed.
"Also, have you ever thought about what I asked you last time?" Li Chenyang asked.
"What did the representative say?" Li Wenmin fired back.
"He agrees that change is beneficial. There is no need for a puppet on the throne."
Li Wenmin was stunned. He became silent and unsure of his next move.
"Wenmin, it's too late to regret now." Li Chenyang said coldly. "You already know what will happen. Your only choice is to join us or betray your family."
"That's not fair!" Li Wenmin argued. "How can you make me choose between the two?"
"It's despicable to have to choose." Li Chenyang said. "We are your family. Blood is thicker than water."
"Well, yes, but—"
"I've heard enough." Li Chenyang said expressionlessly. He walked over to Xueyue, grabbed her wrist, and dragged her out of the room.
Li Wenmin stood there quietly. He was torn between his loyalty to the country and his loyalty to his family. If the Li family usurped the throne, how many people would be ruthlessly slaughtered? How many members of the royal family would have to die? How many nobles who supported the emperor would be killed without mercy?
Li Wenmin stared at his hands, trembling all over. He had never used them to kill his peers before.
Sure, Li Wenmin had fought in many battles, but that was different. He was defending his country, which was what he had sworn to do. But now, he was being asked to kill the man who ruled the country.
Li Wenmin was in a dilemma at the crossroads and could only sit down and think about his choice.
